if you can't handle the heat

it's not intended for anyone personally
and almost all of the time it's not directed at gay people at ALL.
it's just something people say

Even if subconsciously, it's still derogatory.
It teaches other people that it's okay to make fun of people for who they are as long as it's indirect, which isn't right.
It does mean something, even if the person speaking doesn't realize it.

there are so many swearwords which are derogatory to people,
it's a swearword, its function is to be derogatory in the first place.

You're all getting your knickers in a twist over this but to be honest, i'd rather 'gay' be used as the term instead of something more hurtful.

It doesn't offend me its dumb that it offend anyone. Then again if 'gay' is the most important word you can pick to describe yourself then I could understand - but that is kinda pathetic and I dont think anyone feels like that.

The word f*****t is used to describe someone who is stupid or a loser, and it was already a mean term. I find that a lot more offensive.

But its like rappers saying '******' in songs. why should other people quit it when the minority does it themselves? neutral
