I have already posted on this guild... a rather looong time ago, but now I have come to post some lovely pictures of my new homemade Lolita skirt ^_^
Actually, I just used the fabric from an old skirt (in great condition!!) picked up at a cozy second hand shop and turned it into something Victorian Maiden inspired.
Before, the sewing/modifying process, the skirt looked like this:

I wish it turned out puffier, but i just couldn't find the thick kind of tulle for the petticoat; speaking of which:

as you can see, my cat decided to dwell in it for several minutes 4laugh
And last but not least, a picture of the cake

the strawberries and the ribbon were made of marzipan and the numbers and the ruins of the fence made of chocolate. A complete work of art if you're asking me, but unfortunately i wasn't the creator; my sister was.

I'm anxious to read and mentally note either positive or negative remarks, considering all the things above ^_^

Your skirt looks great! Well done!

It looks like you completely changed the top of it to be gathered onto a waistband instead of elasticated.

You really found a great skirt and made it into something even more special.

Are your ribbons changeable? The only constructive criticism is that the ribbon doesn't appear to tone in well in your photo and maybe a different colour ribbon would work better if you eventually find one.

Your hair is great smile The ruching idea was wonderful! You have inspired me to do a similar thing, if I ever find a skirt like this smile

Are your ribbons changeable? The only constructive criticism is that the ribbon doesn't appear to tone in well in your photo and maybe a different colour ribbon would work better if you eventually find one.

I agree about the ribbon. Maybe a black one that's not as shiny would've probably looked better.

Yes, my 17th Birthday, but apparently, i forgot to mention that...
Anyway, the ribbons are not changeable, but this shade of violet/purple was the closest to the colour of the skirt and I've been to all the major shops that sell such things in my city; i haven't really thought of using black ribbons, though sweatdrop

So were the alterations on the skirt difficult to do? Did it take you a long time? I've seen soo many skirts like that while thrifting and never thought I'd be able to do anything with them. But, yours looks so adorable it's inspired me to try. ^^

So were the alterations on the skirt difficult to do? Did it take you a long time? I've seen soo many skirts like that while thrifting and never thought I'd be able to do anything with them. But, yours looks so adorable it's inspired me to try. ^^

I didn't really measure the time it all took me, but as i think back, i believe the that the sewing of the petticoat took me about 3-4 hours, and the alterations on the skirt about 18 hours.
By the way, if everything goes right i will be finishing the matching Alice Bow from the leftovers of the skirt (which, i just remembered, i bought for less than 2 dollars biggrin ; sorry but i just couldn't miss the occasion of stating that sweatdrop ) next week ^_^.

Anyway I'm really glad my work inspired you. It makes me feel like I have finally managed to give back a little bit of what this style offered and offers me smile

2 dollars?? wow that's great! I'd love to see a picture of the alice bow if you'd care to post ^^
yeah, you definitely inspired me. I haven't really been motivated to sew lolita much lately but you gave me motivation! ^^ I see so many skirts just like that at thrift stores and I had a bunch given to me too. I had no idea I could turn them into lolita but now I'm going to try lol
