Chaotic Lamb So it seems that hurricane is headed in my direction and suppose to hit sometime tomorrow.. not sure if it is a direct hit.. but I am not leaving.. I will stay and fight mother nature! Pardon the cussing but-- This has been the shittiest Hurricane season. Every friggin' week the poor coast is getting hit. I'll say a prayer for you. May safety be with you in days to come.

Well best of luck with you, but this one seems big and furious....I'll pray for you as well; just make sure you have a emergency strategy if things does not go as plan.

If I was near the coast I'd be out of there like a bat out of hell.
I hope it's not a direct hit on Galveston.
I'm going to get some of the effects where I am even. I'm 200 miles northwest of Houston between Dallas and Austin.
Good luck to everyone and stay safe wherever you are.

I've been watching it move closer to the coast (on the internet) most of this week. I've been having a work review in California, but 4 guys live in Houston - they all flew back last night to get home before it hits. I hope that there isn't too much damage and all goes okay, Chaotic Lamb.

When you live in a coastal town you kind of expect this kind of weather to happen at least once a year. I was lucky last year and the storm that was heading in our direction downgraded a few hours in advance. It was no worse than the thunderstorms I had to deal with growing up in the (not so) midwest.
That reminds me we are back in torando season again aren't we. Poor Xenia.

from what i've heard, it's a giant storm. it's 600 miles wide, with the eye being 49 miles across. it's only moving about 12 mph. the winds are super intense, whipping around at roughly 110 mph. my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by that storm.

I'm in Austin, and it seems like the storm isn't going to do much here other than drop some rain and some winds. But we've got a lot of the evacuees from coastal areas, so traffic's been nuts.
Good luck to everyone in the path of Ike!
