Okay, so a few years ago, Bandai announced Cowboy Bebop was to be released for the PS2 here in the US. It would feature a new story written by the show's writers, they'd get Yoko Kanno for a couple new songs and even brought back the show's voice actors.
It sadly later got canceled for a US release in the shuffle between the Namco/Bandai merger.

Turns out that fandub group Studio Sokodei (makers of fanfilms "Eva ReDeath" and "Nescaflowne") made a straight translation of the game's story into a full feature length episode with neat edits by fixing up the game's weird cut scene pauses, out of sync moments and lack of music at times. And then promptly released it on youtube...

This is pretty awesome. It's different to hear them in Japanese. I must say I prefer the dubbed Cowboy Bebop over the Japanese (one of the few animes where this is the case), but it's not bad nonetheless. I even like the movie title. heart

Once again, the title is a musical reference. All the titles of Cowboy Bebop are in some way or another, like the actual movie's subtitle "Knocking on Heaven's Door".

I first saw the series through fansubs and then through the official release, and the voice cast for the japanese version was fantastic (Not that the english one is any slouch either, although I prefer the japanese spike over Steven J. Blum.)
And I'm normally a "dub" guy.

Still, one episode of the series you have to see in japanese is "Cowboy Funk" where Spike gets a rival in the form of Andy the Cowboy. All the mangled english he says in that episode... whoo boy.

I know all about the music references, and I love Led Zeppelin, that's why I loved this. whee

I'm gonna have to watch that, the Cowboy Andy episode was a lolfest. Once I get the boxset (if there is one), I'll watch it in Japanese.
