Okay, so I've scraped together about $500, to start off my Lolita wardrobe fully unprepared for the shock and awe at the prices of everything.

I know, I know, I should have researched them more, but I was really excited to buy my first pieces!

So, is there anywhere on this planet I can scrape together a blouse, skirt and possibly a jsk without breaking the bank?

If you buy from companies like ITS, Anna House, Bodyline or Fanplusfriend, yes [check the FAQ and link list on the front page for these sites, I'm in a bit of a hurry].

You can also join LJ and buy items from the EGL Comm Sales [also linked in the FAQ] for cheap, which is how I've gotten a good chunk of my wardrobe. Buying from Yahoo! Japan through a shopping service is incredibly helpful as well. I've managed to more than triple my wardrobe without breaking that five hundred dollar mark you mentioned.

these are the websites I would recommend. Bodyline and rakuen are iffy so just watch out.

You might be able to find perfectly good lolita blouses at your local department store smile

I found a really cute little lolita-esque dress at my local Ross. :3 It was a mini dress, with absolutely NO poof (like an A-line), so I just cut it off and made it a blouse. It's got really nice black lace around the neckline, small puff sleeves, ruffles around the collar, and it buttons up the front. It's positively adorable, I love it - and it was $10! :3

I would buy the blouses, skirts, and dresses from anna house.

I would have to say, don't buy a tulle petticoat, buy an organdie/chiffon one from Candy Violet (which is the malco modes one, but the FLUFFY PETTICOAT is too huge for me unless you are investing in heavy skirts such as velvet). In The Starlight has nice reviews on their petticoats.

I would buy accessories from Baby, the Stars Shine bright. I find their headdresses to be great quality with out have to pay a huge some of money (well, compared to Moi meme Moitie).

If you have small feet, unlike me (size US 9), buy a pair of shoes from Nana-jun. She sells nice quality shoes for a low price (comparing to brand). Montreal is ok, but I would rather save up my money for something a bit nicer.

Of course, these are my opinions. Good luck!

Check American sites too, North and South.
Megan Maude does cute outfits, and so does NEKO. The shipping costs alone will save you money. Also, don't forget the joys of Hot Topic. I've found a lot of hidden treasures there (petticoat: 16 USD).
