That's something of an urban legend. Evidence has suggested that he may be bisexual, however, he's held notable and frequent relationships with women.

On the subject of bisexual musicians, it's hard to go far without mentioning David Bowie.
But I can't think of any strictly gay or lesbian musicians... even though I once thought that the lead singer of Virgin Prunes is gay.
