Before the school year ended, my friend has a sister that goes to the high school I'm going to. She saw me play before, and thinks I'm good. She recommended me to join their drumline because she said that, and I quote: "They, SUUUCK!!"
Me being a freshman when I go, it's going to be kind of hard. So, here are my questions:
Is it hard for freshmen to join drumline? Will there be a good chance if I make it? And should I do anything now to keep my skill question question question

This is just how it is with my line but... Is it hard for freshmen to join drumline? Just as hard as it is for everyone else. there isn't really a bias against freshman cuz we want people who will be there a wile.
Will there be a good chance if I make it? I dont understand the question, but if your good, you'll make it.
And should I do anything now to keep my skill? YES! warm ups and making sure you can still keep the technique down are VERY IMPORTANT!! depending on what instrument tho, there are different things to do to make sure you still have the right form.
What drum are you going for?

Snare or tenors. I'm good at both.

well, if you have a practice pad, for snare i would use it and practice sticking, making sure your hits are in the center, and that your technique is sound. (depending on how your high school line holds the sticks. mine uses traditional grip *they use their wrists more*) also practice accenting and stick heights.
i'm not so good at tenors, so i would just say make sure you can play without hitting the rims (Without looking) crossovers and double sticking wouldn't be a bad thing to practice either.

I think we use Matched grip, but I'll practice using both.
Then I already have tenors down, but still kinda work. Thanks.
