Woah. Wtf!!!
I went to my profile just a moment ago and got this weird pop-up asking for username and password to check for bots. It clearly states it's origin coming from lanzer-mod.com or something.
It almost frickin' got me!!! I didn't even realize it until after a few seconds of mental processing!
It should come naturally [that is if you remember the #1 rule from Gaia: They will never ask for username and password] that you should not fill in anything! Just close it! Ignore it! Write something stupid in it like "stfu you *****"!
This popped up in my profile too!!! Apparently it's coming from an encoded post of some sort. If this ever happens to you, delete the post saying "Hi!" or w/e immediately!!!
I know this may be random but for some strange strange reason after it's been announced that Gaia is cracking down on bots there has been a huge influx of fake "safety measures" all over the place.
Keep the #1 rule in mind and stay safe!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEK!!!! Good for you for realizing before it got you! I'm getting to be so bot/scammer terrified that I don't want to do ANYTHING. You should report the message to a mod, after setting your profile to private or something like that. Now I have to go check mine...

Yeah I've been seeing those on a few other people's profiles lately to. These stupid scammers are getting smarter about this... Since the image ban doesn't effect profiles I guess they started sticking them there.

Maybe I'll just change my profile to private to be on the safe side. I hate the thought that someone might use my profile to get another person's password.

And just a reminder, but please don't let these scammer people ruin your Gaian experience. After all, they can't get you as long as you use common sense.

I just hate that these scammers are doing this and making it so I can't look at alot of people's profiles because they set them to private.

I've just done it so that nobody else falls victim to this scam when accessing my profile. I get a lot of "Hi. Want 2 b freinds?" posts, so I think it's better to be safe than sorry.
Damn scammers. *Tears all of their eyes out with incense sticks*

I haven't seen any of those yet. I guess that I will just check my profile more to delete them if necessary. I have only gotten one or two comments that looked as if they were from bots in my entire time on Gaia. This is really sad. I hope that it gets cleared up soon so we can see people's profiles. sad

Yeah. It's screwy -- I checked out the forums if anyone else had noticed this thing and apparently there's been a good handful of them. They've reported already so I don't feel the need to do so myself. The problem though is the fact that it hasn't been addressed at all! Even more so the fact that it has found its way to the admin's own profile without attention whatsoever!
I don't think they're going to bother with these any time soon. They've got a lot on their hands already so in any case it's just better to keep an eye out.
Another scam I've realized is the random friend requests... I have the habit of PMing people and getting to know em first before adding and even then I might not bother. Heh -- this new "breed" of scams/tricks are damn annoying and actually convincing.

I have rejected many friend requests since joining Gaia 3 years ago. I have a policy of not accepting friends unless I know them first. For example, if I get to know someone on a thread, then I will accept the request. If I have no idea who the person is, I reject them without hesitation. I think that it is kind of pointless to have people on your friend's list who aren't your friends.
