Prompt: Snuggles
No one was allowed to know about Snuggles. His ears were ratty, and his formerly-white stomach a shade of gray. His left eye hung on by a single black thread; the right had been lost long ago. His pink fur was faded from age and countless hugs from a young girl who would never even admit his existence. Snuggles lived under the bed, and was only allowed to emerge from his dark abode in times of crisis and worry.
This was one of those times.
Moira slipped into the tiny apartment above her store in Durem and headed straight to the bedroom, stopping at the nightstand to take off some of the heavier necklaces she was wearing before stooping down to reach underneath her bed. She felt around for a while before her hand rested on the soft, cottony object she was seeking. Quickly snatching up the ragged bunny, she pushed herself onto her small twin-sized bed and lay back against the pillow. She hugged the stuffed animal, squeezing so tight that a bit of polyester stuffing came out of Snuffle’s stomach.
She couldn’t believe Liam would do that to her. Vanessa and Sasha at the same time? Come to think of it, she couldn’t believe Sasha. Her best friend was dating Liam? He’s not even her type! Of course, it’s wasn’t exactly Sasha’s fault – Liam cheated on Sasha the same way he cheated on her and Vanessa.
How did he pull this off, anyway? All three of his “companions” were friends. How did none of them mention that they were dating Liam? Well, they did. Vanessa did. Vanessa mentioned she was dating Liam, and Moira and Sasha said they were dating Liam, and they’d gone to confront him. He, of course, just stammered on like an idiot about how he thought none of them were “exclusive” or “against him seeing other chicks.”
Chicks, he called them. Jerk.
He’d better not try to get back with me, Moira thought, squeezing Snuffles even tighter. He’ll probably pull some stupid stunt to get at least one of us back, if not all of us. She wrung Snuggle’s ears tightly, breaking off a few more threads. Ugh. She couldn’t even stand to think about this anymore. Standing up, she shoved the bunny harshly back under the bed and headed downstairs.
Underneath the bed, a little black bead rolled around next to the stuffed bunny, just another battle wound from the big little girl who had no one else to turn to.

Prompt: Bubblegum
“Yume-Chan!”
I turned around, looking for the source of the voice. There were so many people out today! When did Gaia get so crowded? With all these people, to say I was lost was an understatement. I pushed my way through until I saw a familiar face. “Kuro-Kun!” I ran toward him and hugged him. “You saved my life!”
“Your…. Life? You were only gone for twenty minutes!”
“Oh. Well, I didn’t know where you were!” I straightened my long silver hair, trying not to laugh. I was proud of it. After all, not many had hair as carefully cared for as mine. “So, what should we do? We still have some time before I have to head over to the guild. Do you want to come today?”
“We’ll see. I’m still trying to work on my own. I don’t know how Romi does it.” He sighed heavily.
“Oh well, Kuro-kun, she works really hard, unlike someone I know!” I poked his chest, smiling.
“Yea, and like someone else I know,” he poked me back, “Miss Waste Time in Barton Town! I know you like to hang out in Barton Town, bugging the cat.”
“I don’t bug Rufus! He’s my friend! He warned me about Liam a long time ago! If he hadn’t, I might’ve fallen for the… hot… blonde… built… uh… lecherous, inconsiderate muscle headed idiot! And where would I be?”
“Where you want to be?”
Dang him. He knows me well. “Well, I’m not going to stand this injustice any longer! I’m going to buy what I need and leave!” I turned and walked off. I can hear Kuro laughing as he followed me. I wonder how I can get him back…. But before that, I need to make a stop. I really needed to buy a kimono and the only place that had the one I wanted was Crate and Apparel.
“Be careful, Yume-chan. It’s afterschool. His fangirls will probably be there.” He stopped outside and stuck his hands in his pockets.
“Aren’t you coming in with me?”
“And face the screaming hoards of ‘Liam I love you!’ ‘Liam show me your abs!’? No thank you. You know how fangirls work. You can go. I’ll stay here and watch the door.” He gave me a small salute. Honestly!
I went inside and sure enough, hundreds of Gaian girls (how do they all fit in here?!) crowded around the counter, screaming. I climbed up a clothing rack and my heart skipped a beat. There he was, being fed by two girls I recognized from the GD area of Gaia. He would never go for a guild girl like me. I climbed back down and picked up my kimono. I walked up to the temporary cash register and a pretty girl from Barton Town. “Did you come to see Liam too? Oh, he’s so amazing! Oh! And this month, with any purchase, you are eligible to join the Liam Lovers fan club! Would you like to join?”
“Oh, um. No thanks.” The room got really quiet. I think they were staring at me. “ I really have to go out and meet my friend.” I handed over the gold and grabbed my kimono. I rushed out with my head down. I didn’t want to look at them but I did hear some strange spit noises. “Kuro, can we go now?”
He nodded. “Yea.” I rushed passed him but he grabbed my arm. “Something wrong?”
I shook my head. “No. Nothing. Let’s go. I want to model my new kimono for the other guild members.” I smiled and hummed happily. Once again, I felt his grip on my arm. “Kuro-kuuuuun! I told you I’m fine!”
“You have gum in your hair.”
I froze. “What…?”
“Bubblegum. There’s a pink one, a purple one, one that looks like someone stuck a ranbow in their mouth. It’s kinda gross.”
Slowly, I reached behind me and touched my hair. I felt sticky and wet. A lot of it. Those girls…. They must’ve spit it at me! I tried to pull it out, but it was stuck in there. I smiled at Kuro. “Excuse me.” I made my way to the center of Aeka, took a deep breath and screamed before fainting.
When I finally came to, I smelled hairspray and hair dye. Kuro was next to me. “Kuro-kun? What happened?”
He took a deep breath. “There was… an incident. I don’t know really know what happened. Vanessa tried her best. She really did. But there was so much gum! I know it will take some time to recover, but this is for the best. Please don’t be mad!"
I sat up. “What are you talking about?” I looked around. A hair salon? Vanessa standing far away? Why was she biting her nails?
“It’s still silver!” she offered, forcing a smile. “I know you’ll love it!” She crept forward, carrying a mirror. I took it and brought it up to my face.
My hair… my hair was gone! “Sdfgskjldhflkgsdflkgjsdfg!” I put down the mirror. Everyone stared at me as I touched my hair. Five minutes…. Ten… then finally…. “I love it!”
I could feel the rush of air as they all sighed. Kuro straightened. “So, Yume-chan, did you learn your lesson?”
I nodded. “Yep! Don’t piss off fangirls!”
Vanessa handed me a free comb. “And stay away from Liam.”
I jumped off the chair. “Definitely! Kuro… thank you.”
“No problem. You’re my guildmate. We’re supposed to look out for each other.”
I smiled and nodded my head, my short hair shifting to my face. “Yea. Thanks Kuro!”
“Besides, I don’t think Liam would go for a guild girl like you.” Ouch. Now… how can I get back at him…

Prompt: Sunset
A lovely young woman stands alone at the cliff’s edge. Her pale face is stained with tears. Her cotton dress is paler still. She looks up at the sunset, staining the fluffy white clouds with tints of evening color. Her bare feet left no indication in the dirt that she had come, yet someone knows of her presence; someone she believes to be long since dead. She came to this spot to remember him. She looks down. If only she could share this beautiful sunset with him; to be here alone is almost a sin. She blinks back tears; he wouldn’t want her to cry. As the wind blows her dark hair into a stream behind her, she turns her head to see him coming; there’s no one there. Yet she feels a strange presence. Could he be there? No, that’s impossible. He’s been dead for almost a year. Nevertheless, instinct and curiosity tell her to follow that motion from in those trees. She obeys. She is guided by intuition alone; her eyes are clouded by tears. But she mourns also with her voice, singing the song they wrote together so many years before. Only now, when he is no longer with her, does it really hold meaning. The sun sinks slowly behind her as she follows this presence. Is it real? Could he really be there? And suddenly she is in a clearing, an opening onto the rocky edge of the cliff. It was a dream, a wish, a fantasy. She had imagined his presence; she was truly alone all this time. She steps out farther, towards the rocks, weeping, mourning him still. The wind whispers her name, and once again she turns. Someone is behind her. He really is there. Disbelieving, she turns away. A moment later, the vicious blade pierces her back. She gasps. A moment more, and she too is gone, a mere memory slain at sunset.
