Alright, so of course everyone is all for equality amoungst races, genders, etc. women as good as men, black equal to white. And I agree.... i am all for equality. However, in modern days, it seems to me like our actions for equality are actually tipping in the opposite direction and causing prejudice against the white male. for one thing, there are many scholarships and even full colleges thast are just for certain races and colors, or just for women. However, if someone were to do the same for "just men" or "just white", then suddenly it is called racist or sexist. But isnt that basically what the other scholarships were doing? Same goes for the whole idea of "real gentlmen pull out a ladies chair" or "real gentlemen hold the door open for women". As far as i can tell, women are just as capable of doing it themselves. I think these rules come from long ago when women were still all in dresses, so doing this kept their dress from catching on the door or chair.
Anyway, lets hear your thoughts......

I personally am not for the 'equality' thing. Before anyone explodes at me, let me explain: I am not racist, I am for Non-White/White 'man' equality. But I dont think women should think that they should be just as good as men, and still have the men of this world act as "Gentelmen." I --as a woman!-- would give up many of my rights as a citizen to have a true gentelman hold open a door for me, pull out a chair for me, not show off boxers in a hallway at school. I personally do not think that women/men equallity will last long like this because of the facts you brought up. But colledges and boarding schools for 'girls only' are mainly about the safty, if you put 2000 boys in a school together, fights will break out. That would be cut down considerably in a gender-forgotten or 'girls only' school.

I'm Not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but I disagree what you say about fights breaking out in an all guys school. Ill admit, Guys do rough house a lot, but girls LOVE to talk crap about people. (I'm deeply sorry if this offends anyone) And girls argue a lot. probably just as much as men do. So just because males go through that rough housing stage, dose not mean their mostly violent... If theirs danger, I think I guy can even associate with someone they hate to get the job done. pluse the only fight ive seen ALL year was two girls, so they fight too.

Hmmm.. I agree and disagree with all of you. First, women do fight just as much as men, but we tend to be more verbal where as most guys would prefer to use fists first. Now I do have to agree with camilla, its just nice for a man hold open a door. Though I see your point azrael, we are capable of doing it ourselves, its just being polite (And sweet) is all. And in all boys or all girls schools.. Well, there will be fights in either one. In my opinion, it wouldn't be much different than a normal school, just same genders. And Skizlersan, I must say that thats a little sexist and I am offended. I do NOT love to talk crap about people nor really like people who do. Saying all girls do that is like say every guy will always use their fists first. And guys 'talk crap' about people too, whether they realize it or not. Though I do agree that in certain situations, people, male and female, can have enough control over themselves to 'get the job done'. And, yes, girls are probably more prone to fight in school, but could it not be possible that males just do it elsewhere like after school or where no one is around? Just because certain girls can't hold back their angry doesn't mean guys don't fight a lot too.
((And I do kinda believe in equality, women can do what men do and men what women do. But I also believe that there are certain things men should do while on a date. And if they do do it, it tends to make most girls happy at the politeness and think the male is very sweet (So really its just bonus points). Though the chair thing.. I don't know. I prefer to seat myself.))

No matter what you do. No matter what you say. there will always be those that are unpleased. There will always be a group that doesn't accept the rules and gets the others excited as well. Races that have suffered in the past will always secretly desire revenge and thusly try to tip the scales in they're favor any way they can.

When will all the talk about this 'equality' end?
Everyone is equal. It's the people constantly bringing up the past who make it seem like we aren't.
Race equality - We're all equal, so stop bringing up slavery and stfu, then maybe you'll understand.
Sex equality - Men and women are equal. Next time you see a woman sitting on the side of a road holding a sign that says 'Wil kook 4 man' let me know.

If I Don't Respond..
The one true way for us all to be equal --and yes, I know it will take a while-- is to forget completely about all 'country's, 'nations', 'race's, and 'gender's.
But the thing is, Females will always believe they are smarter then Males, and Males will always think that they have something Females dont. It shouldnt matter, but it will always happen.
Maybe we should just give it a rest and let it be that there hasnt been a woman president. Man kind has always needed the little 'booster' that they get from putting other people down. Thats all the racist/sexist/nationalist-jokes are, ego-boosters.
It's 'Cauze I'm Reading!

i find the whole "equality" thing more of a excuse in some cases. now im not trying to sound rasist becuase im not. but their are some black men/wemon that are so ignorant of the fact that skin color means nothing that they bring the human race down with the way they act. they use their skin color to try and get what they want, and if that doesnt work then they get a bunch of their freinds together and "jump" you(not as in the reader but as in a person who "offended them") and i do know this aplies for all races but iv seen and heard more so of black, now if the black comunity would get it together and actualy tried more as a whole then maby the sterotypes would lessen. but the whole thing of afirmitive action is just stupid in my opinion, i dont care if your black white asian, hispanic, ect. i want someone quialified teaching kids, or learning in great colledges, ect. not some guy who got by on his ancestors and what happend to them.
as for the whole thing of guys vs. girls fighting thing. this doesnt apply all the time. when guys fight if they are friends then they will just resume what they were doing before and nurse their bruises. but somegirls fight even if they are freinds they will conitinue to fight with words after the initial confrontation happend, badmouthing the other, spreading lies ect.

This is not true for most girls as well. Most get angry at each other, but we will not physicly harm anyone in the first place [unless they're what we call 'prep']. We spread rumors untill they're old then we are over it and its time to move on. That is all.
One more thing about the racism, who here has heard the term 'white' used when refrancing someone's "Coolness level"? I have been called 'white' because I cannot dance. This is extremely racist, we need to get over the non-caucasion's[sp?] treating caucasion[sp?] people the like crap, and non-colored people treating colored people the same way, and get over 'which race is cooler' thing.
Because B♥ys in life b♥♥ks… Are Better…

I too would gladly throw away 'equality for a minute and have a real gentleman assist me. yes, and another thing, I got a lot of trash about being Caucasian at my old school. Very nasty names. ): Race equality should be payed more attention to.

Equality is a great ideal, but it is not very realistic. It is nearly impossible to look at a person and not notice the color of his skin, his facial features, his height and weight, etc. The human brain is built to make judgements based on what it sees, and as long as people look different, the brain will see them differently. This is not an excuse to treat groups of people better than others based on race or nationality, but it is a fact of life. Unless we can force our brains to see red hair and black hair as the same thing, we can never see them as truly equal.
As for gender equality, as a sexually dimorphic species, true equality is impossible. The fact is that there are physical and mental differences between men and women. Some of it is learned, but some of it is also hereditary and cannot be changed until we evolve into some other species.
I think that an ideal is something to be strived for, but that is not necessarily reachable. If we were to reach all of our ideals, we would have no reason to grow and change and make things better. As long as our society as a whole continues to strive for equality, I'd say we're doing pretty well.

im all for equality of everything. i just dont wanna see a non-caucasion person rip at someone constantly for being white and then pull the race card when something is said back.
that aside, on to women. not all women, just illogical feminists. they love to say that they want equality. they wanna "be treated like men." bulls**t. they say that, but if we treat them like we treat our male friends, we are called "pigs" "sexists" "perverts" etc. but then if we treat them not like men, they go and wave the sexist flag. so, this goes out to all you women who THINK you want equality... HEY, IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED "EQUAL" THEN GROW A SPINE AND TAKE EVERYTHING THAT COMES WITH BEING EQUAL. I REFUSE TO CONTINUE TO TREAT U EQUALLY ONLY WHEN ITS CONVIENIENT FOR YOU.
thank you.
