I am thinking of going into a profession but i can't think of what it is! They research, make hypotheses and develop theories on the actions and past of the universe.
philosopher? Astronomer? what?

Well if it's regarding the large scale structure of the universe then it's cosmology.

Astrophysicists also study past (and present) phenomena like planetary nebula and stellar formation.

Could you be more specific?

sounds like a cosmologist
an astrophysicist studies the kinematics of the universe, including planetary orbits. they are less ocncerned with the orgins/ending of the universe
