I saw on Animal Planet that cats are able to make 100 different vocal sounds! Doesn't surprise me at all. Esp. since I have 2 very talkative Siamese! heart They also said dogs can only make 10 vocal sounds.

They most certainly do. I have four cats and they all 'talk' to me whenever they want something. One even comes to me or my father when someone else upsets and throws a hissy fit then leads us to the person who upset him. Cats are very smart animals.

Chrissy is not very talkative at all but she does have a different meow for when she wants attention, for when she wants dinner, and for when she wants OMG! Tuna Flakes Tuna Flakes TUNA FLAKES!!!

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Tiger is very talkative and says different things depending on what he wants. When he wants to go out he has a meow that sounds very similar to the word "out".
My girls also get pretty talkative at night and they make a bunch of different sounds. Mostly chirps but some meows too.
And then of course there are the extreme sounds like shouts, hisses and yowls. Thankfully I don't hear those too often.

Most definitely. Besides the obvious aspect of each cat having a different meow, all 7 of my cats meow differently depending what they want. When Bailey is begging to go out, she draws out her meows more. When Lilly wants my attention she does a bunch of short meows - but once she has it she does a few long tone changing meows. Abby chirp meows when she's lost my Mom, but just chirps when you pet her head. Mikey squeaks when he wants his ball thrown, but squeaks and meows when he sees food. I could go on forever, but I agree with this thread entirely. xD

Mhm... my baby, Chip, talks every time he wants attention.
He'll meow rapidly and incredibly loudly until I pick him up. When he's stuck in a room or something it's a more long, drawn out "MUROWR! D:"
And when he see's a bird or something of the like out the living room window, he'll "chirp" at them.

My cats love to "chatter" at bugs(when they are out of reach to catch) and the birds at the birdfeeder outside a window. I also have the "Catnip" video thats of videotaped birds/squirrels that the cats always "chatter" to also. I've actually taught two of my cats to speak (meow) on command. 3nodding (Anything for a treat xd )

i also have a siamese. boy does she talk a lot. mainly to me but also to the other humans, dogs and ed. the other cat in my house is common black cat (edward) and ive never heard her talk to any of the other animals (except for hissing at the chihuahua) but whines at me all the time. haha if you can call that meowing; her voice is like extreamly raspy, likes shes been smoking 3 packs a day for 40 years.

my 2 baby's are taz and dove, they both talk when they want something.
taz talks just to be social also..
dove chatters at the birds.

Yes. All my cats have different meows telling me what they want. "I want to be pet" or "I want food" or "I'm unhappy", and so on. It sometime takes me a bit, but after owning these cats for a while it gets to be almost like you know exactly what they are saying to you.

My cats all have very different attitudes when it comes to talking, but they all do it. and take for instance, my tabby. She meows so it sounds like "mama" when she wants me to pick her up.

All of my cats are chatty, They all have different voices and some are alot more chatty than others, the whites (Tonks) for example never seen to shut up, they are always calling or chattering to someone or at something. They all sing for canned food if the see me with any kind of can as if any of them (all having paunches) have ever missed a meal. As I type Freya is in the back hallway calling, Bella who is her kitten But over a year old and ignoring her. Loki talks all the time, and its odd since He is a dark tabby.

He rolls his tongue when he meows..

Issy talks all the time XD Almost more than me XD
We can have long conversations where wh discuss what I did in school, what she ate for breakfast etc. It's fun talking to someone who's always when yo nice to you and really miss you when you're gone.
Whenever I go out she starts meowing like crazy O_O;
Ah, I really love talking to her.
