I mean I am really glad when I see a familiar yaoi manga turned into an anime, what with the beautiful artwork and animation used; however I find it to be way too toned down sometimes as far the sex scenes. The only one that I've seen that's kept all the details (without the pixelated censoring) was Sensitive Pornograph. So far that's the only one that has not been softened. I'm hoping there will be a little more like that one in the future; but other than that I do like some of the recent ones such as Kirepapa. And now the latest Junjou Romantica....UsagixMisaki heart

yeah i've noticed the toned down anime, like i thought that FAKE would be a full series with completed episodes and stuff but it was just an OVA of when they went to England so i usually like the manga better

Personaly, I prefer reading yaoi mangas than watching yaoi anime... though, some anime OVA actually were really good and well drawn(Kirepapa, xD). yep, I have a preference with mangas! ^____^

I think everyone would agree. I like the smut in mangas. If they added that to the anime I would like it more, but yeah, I do enjoy yaoi anime too, just not as much as manga.

I prefer manga for several reasons. - First of all, I find it harder to actually find Yaoi anime. I even braved the hentai section of a local video store that prides itself on carrying anime, and I couldn't find squat. - Seccond, as other people have mentioned, they tend to soften the animes. Also, I find that the sex scenes they do leave in are often rather awkward to watch in animated form. The manga leaves more to the imagination ^^ - And of course, manga is much easier to hide. I may be over 18, but if any member of my family walked in on me watching yaoi.... sweatdrop awkward....
In defense of anime, though, I do enjoy getting to hear my favorite characters have actual voices... sometimes by my favorite voice actors .

Yaoi manga is definitely better in terms of smut xd You can linger on pages and it's portable, whereas the anime is toned down and short. The good thing about the anime though is that you can hear their voices and their nicely animated 3nodding

Good points spoken here.
It's nice to be able to associate certain voices with the characters, especially when you read the manga over for the n-th time. But it's really bothersome that they soften the animes so much, makes it awkward to watch, like someone mentioned.
Sensitive Pornograph was good though mrgreen Very good. And though I'm not really into shota, Pico to Chico/Boku no Pico aren't particularly soft either.

I'd have to say that I like both for different reasons. Manga for the scenes.. yay. Plus in the mangas you get more of the story. Anime I guess for the lack of scenes, you get more of the relationship but know whats going on you just can't see it on the screen, just in you head. I usually watch the anime then go and get the manga.

Manga and Anime are equal for me. The manga is usually the original story and they sometimes change it in the anime. But the anime has the voices, what with the panting and moaning. oooh, yeah baby. *cough cough* but uh, anyway, the manga is good too because, well, it's the manga. And it's usually a little more graphic and you can actually see stuff. The anime is sometimes toned down so you can't see as much. Either way, i'm happy. ^^

All of you make really good points. So far, I've liked most mangas I've read better than the animes. Of course, for me, it's really hard to find a good yaoi anime that actually has all the episodes up. There are several good ones (Sensitive Pornograph, Okane Ga Nai, Papa to Kiss In the Dark, Kirepapa) but then some that I've found only have one episode that I can find, or just part of the first episode (Level C).
Sure, I like hearing the voices (and as Masami_Mistress_Of_Fire mentioned, the moaning and panting) but the mangas are just better. You know?

I really enjoy Yaoi manga because of the storyline and I like how it can be not only sexy but romantic at times. I havent had the luck to buy a Yaoi anime but oneday I would love to get one so that I can enjoy it very much. My two favorite manga-ka's who write Yaoi are Naduki Koujima and Row Takakura. I find their manga to be enjoyable and romantic too. My favorite Boys Love from Naduki Koujima would be Our Kingdom and my favorite Yaoi that she has written is between Great Place High School, Little Darling & Selfish Love. My favorite Row Takakura manga is between But I'm Your Teacher, I Can't Stop Loving You & Skyscrapers Of Oz.

Everything will be okay in the end. Reading it. Def.
If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.
