Reference librarians are a wonderful resource!
I tried, honest I did.
I live in small town USA, where our public library doubles as our senior center. The Librarian is also the only librarian, and didn't even know that "Berber" was something other than a carpet type or fleece variety.
The college here was no better. While the Librarian knew that the Berbers are a people, she found that the library holds NO books on them. Maybe a page or two there, telling everyone what wikipedia can, an encyclopedia entry here and there... but I need culture, beliefs, women's clothing, religious beliefs, this like that. Wikipedia is by no means the source I was looking for, but it has more details than my college's library.
I don't have the phone minutes to call up towns outside of my state (or inside of my state, really) to speak to their librarians. I need primary sources I can read in person, interlibrary loan, or buy online.
