Flags are all right. I don't like one-handed parallel tosses (I managed to hit myself in the face with one of those Freshman year, and that kind of gave me a nice mental block for those), but anything else with a flag is okay.
Rifles are my babies. They're the reason I continued with guard after my crummy Freshman year. I was the little rifle prodigy of my guard. It felt nice. I was a Freshman, and I could toss a five. Most of the Seniors on rifle couldn't even do that. I felt so special!
Saber is the reason I joined guard in the first place. You see, I love swords. When I saw that the guard at the high school I was going to spun sabers, I was hooked. I got to spin sabers in a show before I got to spin rifle, so that was cool. Sabers hurt worse than rifles. They bite. Spanish sabers. . .owies. I didn't get many cuts and bruises, but my hands hated me.
Unfortunately, I'm no longer in guard. I graduated. . .
crying Ha ha, you sound like me. The very first colorguard practice I ever went to we were throwing horizontals which I think is the same thing as your one-handed parallels, but anyway, it hit me right in the head. I got a humongous goose egg and my nickname from then on was Goose. I haven't been able to even throw a horizontal since.
Also, I was a bit a prodigy in my guard too, only I was the same age as all the rest of them and they got really angry when I was able to do everything they could and more. One girl, who had to wait three seasons before she could get on weapon line was pissed when I got on it my second season.
But yeah, weapons are my favorite. I can't decide if I like rifles or sabres better. I'm better at rifle, but that's mainly because I always put too much power behind my sabre work. Heh. Oh and on the topic, my band has never been to Florida. Though we talked about going. We've also discussed Busch Gardens Europe, though that fell through as anything more than a fun trip. We were going to perform but whatever they were holding there or near there got cancelled cause not enough bands signed up.
