It has recently come to my attention that many of you are unhappy with our Red Light District subforum for mature topics and it has been suggested by a couple of members that we remove the Red Light District altogether. I've discussed this proposal with the mods and both have given their approval. I'm now opening this up to the rest of the guild for discussion and will base my final decision on your opinions. Please feel free to debate this proposal openly and take part in the poll. I'll be checking back here regularly, so keep the discussion clean and remember not to offend others with your opinions. Thank you for your input.

Hmm~ I suppose I'd support it's removal. The concept of it still confuses me because how are people supposed to have discussions about and post pictures of something that's not allowed on Gaia? No one wants to risk getting themselves or this guild in trouble, so basically, they can't. Instead, the posts and pictures in there are mostly just cute/funny couples hugging or kissing and nothing even remotely graphic.
The subforum is like having a huge "Beware of dog!" sign when in reality all we have in our metaphorical back yard is a bunch of adorable puppies. Its existence just sends the wrong sort of message to people I think. People who actually think they're going to find hentai/yaoi/yuri in there will be like "wtf where's the pr0nz?" and people who see the title, but don't go in will be like "ew there's pr0nz in there."
If it doesn't get deleted, I'd suggest at least finding another title for it that isn't as intimidating to our younger members. Maybe it could be more of a Couples Subforum or something? Like a place for people to fangirl/fanboy over their OTP and post cute pictures of them and stuff? That's pretty-much what it is now I think. :3

That's a nice idea ^^ But you're absolutely right. Younger members are scared off by the fact that the subforum is marked 18+ and Hentai lovers aren't attracted to the lack of hentai. At best, it's become a subforum for cute and amuzing pictures ^^;;
Personally, I'm not into hentai or adult discussion anyway, so the subforum is there merely for the benefit of others.

personal, i dont like the Hentai, but it can be funny, and the yuri/yaoi stuff i think can be innocent, but as long as it is watched over.
i know what people are thinking "but chakra1 you made most of the sub forums in the red light". that maybe true but i did it cause it was part of the guild and i try to keep all parts of it active.
thats all folks.

I don't mind that it's there but agree with giving it a less controversial title. I try to only post the funny stuff, but I can understand other peoples feelings about the subject.

Honestly, I think having a subforum like that is a good idea; though, posting pictures probably isn't what it should be about. It should be about people's favorite hentai, etc....and a discussion about it.
Example: Strawberry Panic! People would know that it's graphic and contains either pornoerotic images or storyline and know to either stay away from it, or chat about it. Fans would know about it, instead of random chatters coming in and flaming for something someone else likes. I would even go as far as putting almost all genrally romantic storylines in the redlight district, as some people may be offended by it.
Bottom Line: I think it's a good idea, but I agree that it should have a less threatening title. I think it's a useful subforum and more people should get involved in it.

I agree on the consesus that perhaps it should be re-named to be less, 'off-putting'. Something like, 'For Grannies Eyes only'?
If not then perhaps it is best to remove it. I don't mind the adult talk (I am 27) but I wouldn't want to put off other members by it being there. I'm happy to lose it for the sake of members comfort in the guild. It' not a big part of the guild and the guild won't lose any of it's purpose by the loss of that particular sub-forum.

I was never expecting hentai to be in there, but I can see how the name would be off putting.
I do think it's a good idea to have a separate forum/subforum for yaoi/yuri. I t always annoys me to have topics like that floating around in regular forums, just because I don't endorse it - and whenever a topic isn't clear what it's about, and I click on it, I'm like, "shouldn't they have a section for this?"
I think having the forum is a good idea, so that people who aren't interested in that stuff know not to go in, but changing the title would probably be a good idea.

i have looked over all comments, and i think if anything the name needs to change at the very least.
also maybe take my"post your hentai here" down. make a hentai discussion maybe and have a funny pic every now and then.
then the yuri and yaoi, i think that they can be kept, but still keeping an eye on them. i can help with that, because i sortof made two of the yuri, and yaoi topics.
maybe also haveing a vote like this every once in awhile will do us all good to keep the guild on track.

honestly, my opinion is that if there isn't the designated area for it. it will be mixed among all the other stuff and then people may accidently wander into the thread and cause more of a commotion, this way people can see that theres a thread there and if they dont like it... dont go in there! its simple as that.

ZOMG. This is rather funny. Its only natural straight minded people don't get it. yuri is girl/girl relationships, yaoi is guy/guy relationships. Oh course some people would be confused about it. But; it's another form of romance. Love is love, why deny it? If I'm spouting out the obvious, don't mind me. I sometimes like to crazily rant. razz Well; to the subject at hand now. I feel it would be denying the yuri, yaoi, and hentai lovers, what they want. I think whinin the "Red Light District - Yaoi/Yuri/Hentai/18+", there should be 3 subfourms. One for Yaoi, one for Yuri, And one for Hentai ("Hentai - Enter at your own risk"). Other then that; I guess I kinda agree with: thestarthatshines I was never expecting hentai to be in there, but I can see how the name would be off putting. i have been thinking (omg yes i was thinking) that maybe we should make a list of out comes for each choice we might make. 1. remove the red light. * we may get less people that are intested in joining. at the same time if they only join because of that the red light then they should not even be in this guild. * less over all post for the guilds popularity down the road, so we may start to die if people dont join because it is less inactive than other guilds. on the flip side we will have less post and it just will take more time to get popular. also is our goal not to become better and more popular than the A/M/C?( this can work two ways) *more people may want to join the guild thinking that it is a clean guild, and that is good.
2. keep the red light as it is. * we may get more people but the chance of it beening some sicko looking for a chep thrill will be up. * more over all people/post down the road. this could help the guild, or hurt it. the post maybe red light and the more red light the more of a chance that a bad image is posted by the wrong type of person. maybe not, we could take our chance. * more varity to this guild. itis a good thing, but can back fire.
3. change title. * ditto for the most part of number 2, but less chance taking thats all. there will always be high chances llike said in number 2, just alittle less.
4.get rid of the hentai. * this will lower the chances of a sicko down! yaoi, and yuri are just celebrations of love, but hentai....not so much if you know what i mean. *disapoint people, and have less joining the guild, well if they are joining the guild for that then tx god they are not joining. *less post. one less topic/ sub forum will translate into less post most of the time. * more people and post. more people will join and see a clean guild, and more people = more post. ( i cant think of anything else if you do then tell me)
anyways there you go. sweatdrop

if you don't like it then don't post or go to it its as simple as that btw its easier to have a section just for those disscusions otherwise you would have hentai right next to a bunch of other topics and that would confuse and get some kids that share comps in trouble ^^ oh and i thought this was a guild about non-mainstream anime well alot of hentai isn't mainstream so lets keep it ^^
