GAH! My slide keeps sticking like crazy. There is this amazing stuff I used to use but I can't find it anywhere anymore. I got some other stuff but I have to basically pour water on for it to move easily. I have a new piece that is really fast and it is getting to the point where I can't stand it anymore.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

It's not oil. It's cream. Oil gets all over everything. Not a fan of it at all.

I've had that prob before, A list of fixes:
1. Take apart the slide, Wibe off the inner tube with a fresh rag real good, should be completly dry Run your snake through the gold part that goes on the silver, Take the cream and put it on just the very end of your slide (just below and on the two rings). Put only one tube together, and slide it all the way closed, and back down, then up slowly wile twisting. repeet for other tube. Test it, if not good enuf then, put a little more at the bottem, and check for any sticking parts, if so then put very little in that spot,
After testing it, and its good, use a fine spray bottle (eye glass sprayer) and mist your slide with normal tap water. should work greate!!
you probly used to use Slide-o-mix. and if not, you probly should, stuf is awesome!! (stuf is a little expenceve)
usely happened to me after marching, change in the sesions, or just after a wile of neglect (a cupple months)
Know it's long, but it works, and i am a dork.

I used stuff before called Trombone Cream. It was funny that that was all it was called but it ended up helping but they ended up stopping selling it where I live.

I've never heard of "slide-o'mix", but I use Trombotine for my slide. It works so o so well, but it lasts a week if you practice a lot, at most.
Also, I was told of a great website for ordering trombone gear. It's a place in New York(?) called Hickey's. one of the Founders was a trombone player, so you will find all that you need here. Look at their website to order from their catalog...NOW!... NOW!!...No? Okay...

Slide-O-Mix works well, but like Zack said it's kind of expensive. Since you're not a fan of oils, regular old Yamaha slide cream and a spray bottle work like magic too, if you apply the cream just right. Put a little bit on both stockings and make sure it's spread out evenly. You shouldn't really be able to see it. Spray it down with water and you're good to go! biggrin Hope this helped whee
P.S. Just an idea... look on the stockings, especially on the ends. Maybe there's some dried cream that needs to come off... I don't know if that would contribute to sticking or not, but I guess it's worth a try.

Answer= Super-slick kit its cream,a spray bottle and a bottle called Super Slick (or something) u put cream on and then spray the bottle evenly like the people have said before then u put about two drops of super-slick (its a little bottle) the drops make the difference really they'll make it a lot better trust me its pretty cheap too

if it gets to the point where u can't stand it nemore u might just want to go and buy a valve trombone, which is a trombone with valves like a trumpet instead of a slide

I use just the regular yamaha slide cream (may be cheap but its really good stuff) and then spray some water on it..and yea like everyone has said watch for the ends of the slide (in side not the outside color((not saying gold cuz not everyone has gold i have silver for example)) But..yea that should work..lasts about a month depending on how much ya put

Loki92 if it gets to the point where u can't stand it nemore u might just want to go and buy a valve trombone, which is a trombone with valves like a trumpet instead of a slide Disgusting! A Valve Trombone?! What are you thinking?! Not only are they unconventional and unacceptable in most bands, but they also ruin the unique sound that is trombone, and unless you want to read euphonium music for the rest of your days(and for that you might as well just play euphonium if you want valves), then never bring valve trombones into this again!
