Good evening, Guild
smile (or morning or afternoon or whenever you read this)
Let's imagine that you have, through a series of strange and wonderful events, gotten your hands on a
TARDIS time machine. Being the Egyptomaniac that you are, you leap at the chance to travel back in time to ancient Egypt. So, you program your
TARDIS time machine for almost five millenia ago, and off you go...
Which dynasty would be in power when you get there?
Which city would you land in?
What would you do?
Where (in Egypt) would you go?
Who would you want to meet?
Would you take a memento of your journey?
Would you leave a memento of your journey for Egyptologists to puzzle over for centuries to come? (i.e., "Nevira Was Here" misspelled badly in hieroglyphs on a monument)
Anything else that might happen during your stay?
Keep in mind that time paradoxes (i.e, the
grandfather paradox) are applicable and people will probably notice that you're not from around there. For the sake of discussion, let's automatically assume that your time machine comes with a universal translator so you can understand the people and they can understand you.
I'd want to travel to the 26th Dynasty, to the (then) capital of Sais. Since that's where the main temple of my favorite goddess Neith is, I'd definitely want to visit that. I'd also observe daily life in ancient Egypt, to see how the everyman lives in such a time, not just nobles and royalty. I'd want to talk to all kinds of people-soldiers, priests, nobles, kids, mothers, craftsmen...I'd write everything down about my findings to take back and share the knowledge with the archeology scene. Unless I was feeling particularly mischievous, I wouldn't try to inscribe anything in stone or introduce new technology (hey, such actions violate the Prime Directive, after all ;D ) but since I'm so pale, I'd noticeably stand out, and people might think I'm some sort of spirit and try to exorcise me
gonk !
Ready, set, time travel!
Don't forget to take care of K-9
