K...OBVIOUSLY this topic is about the S&M album by Metallica. But not only is it about rock and roll, b/c then it wouldn't pertain to this forum.

i have arranged a version all my own of "One" as well as "Nothing Else Matters." unfortunately i can not post any of it online so that you can look at them and what not. but we can at least talk about the album and your opinions on whether or not you think that rock and roll should be arranged for symphonies or orchestras.

only one real rule:

PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANY RUDE COMMENTS ABOUT SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE ELSE WROTE! I WILL NOT PUT UP WITH ANY DEROGATORY s**t!

thank you!

Have you heard of Apocalyptica? They're a group of cellos who originally covered Metallica music, then started their own compositions. For cellists, they sure know how to rock.

I also have a CD where someone took all of Pink Floyd's music and made an orchestral arrangement of it all. I mean, London Symphony quality music. It makes classic rock fans double take when I have it on in the background.

I'd have to say that pairing an orchestra/symphony with rock and roll is the best thing to ever happen to music. Queen did it well, along with the others mentioned already. Freddy Mercury's a pure genius....Apocalyptica's also one of the best bands to walk the face of the earth....

And don't forget to mention metal acts, such as Nightwish and Dream Theater.

Apocalyptica is really really really good! I love "Don't Care" feat. Three Days Grace singer. Its dark and the low bass-y sounds from the cellos really give off the dark mood. Metallica covers from them are really good too... even if there aren't any singers. I think that orchestras and concert bands should add to the metal clash. It would sounds really good for "Nothing Else Matters"- Metallica.
