I have naturally curly hair, yay, yes? I can make it work for some loli-ness when I'm rushing about taking care of my son, for class and for work (my manager said that I am a very "interesting" individual for my hair styles XD) Thank you kind people for helping me the last time with this sort of issue. <3
But I have a styling problem, and I will understand if no one can really help.
I have a big event coming up this year, and I'm planning on going full throttle with it. Which means I don't really want to "make-do" with my own curls.
I want those long, sorta thin curls, but everything I've tried to do to get them is utter failure! My own curling irons don't work. And I have tried to used blow dryers/pencils/hair product/sleeping in curlers, but nothing seems to be working. I get long, not tight, not always pretty curls, but those tight curls are what I'm really aiming for. They are elusive little devils. D:
Any help or suggestions? I would be eternally grateful. heart

I'm not so sure of how well this would work seeing as my own hair is naturally curly... I've done similar by curling my bangs around my finger to get even curls... this seems like it may work as well:
heart I believe that if you take your hair after you get out of the shower, towel dry it but leave a little moisture so the product spreads easier. heart Use Noodle Head (or something else that will hold the curls... noodle head will hold the curls but wont be crunchy like gel or sprays) and comb it through your hair from the ends. You don't need tons but make sure you get all over. heart Put your hair in the desired size curlers and start drying them with the dryer. Just before they are fully dry carefully take out the curlers and let them finish air drying (it gives them time to have a natural sag- esp if you decide to use gel or something that may try to hold the hair in the curler position).
sweatdrop I pray that it looks alright when you're done! If you use this method please let me know how things come out. side noteMaybe you could try very thin curlers... or try a pencil and a bobby pin to hold it in place. >.< I'm not sure what would work since i just use what God gave me but I'd still like to help Noodle Head: It looks like... http://www.sallybeauty.com/Beyond+the+Zone+Noodle+Head+Curling+Creme/SBS-140722,default,pd.html

heart heart heart heart Ahh~~~ i know what your talking about with the curls not holding crying I have frizzy, wavey, AND straight hair! (yes, my hair is a circus : p) so its hard to hold curls, but this ussually works for me ^_^
Brush your hair and spray the area you want to curl with hair spray (I use Garnia Ultra Hold Spray) Then curl your hair with the curling iron like normal then spray the curls agian with the spray
I tend to use alot of hairspray (the stuff I use smells like perfume heart ) and the curls hold all day, and well into the night If im not sleeping on them XD
thats what I do, but im not sure if it will work sweatdrop

~*~ I kind of know how you feel when my curly hair was long I couldn't get it to curl just right it always ended up frizzy and falling out, but than I just cut it off which I wish I had done earlier lol But my friend did have this problem for prom, she went to a professional who did the iron and a freezing hair spray that held her flat hair in curls better than my natural curl >< I truly suggesting trying it if the event is this important to you and your curls lol ~*~

Thank you so much for the advice, Momomaro. <333 I'll try that soon.
If any home remedies don't work, I may go to a professional. I just want to see if I can do it myself before I actually do so, you know? <3 Thank you though, Fluffy. mrgreen

I have loong naturally curly hair kinda fixed messy! If i want doll curles, I use a high heat curling iron, a wax based (washout) gel (not the kind for dreds) or lots and lots of hair spray/gel. It normally takes between, 30-45 minuts to get them to set, preworking them with curlers (like when you sleep) also helps out wonderfully.

Now, this isn't the same an ringlets, but I've heard you can get a sort of semi perm that makes your hair wavy. Has anyone tried this? I'm kind of curious about perms in general because I'm sick sick sick of my hair. But I don't want it to turn out icky...

i have natrally curly hair, and when i want doll curls i put in sponge curlers after i get out of the shower(towel dry it a little) then i blow dry my hair(i usualy do this right before bed) then i sleep on them, and in the morning when i wake up i blow dry it a little more, take the curlers out and..TADA! it usually last for about three days without hair spray..but i think it would depend on your hair, but it works for me and my mom and she has strait hair sooo....

I have curly, yet thin, hair.
So nothing ever stays but the frizz. sweatdrop
I use hair product, and it works, if I don't try anything overly...anything ^^;
Heck, it won't even stay straight after I straighten it. D<

We've met in a "what is lolita" thread in...I think chatter box. Not really friends but we don't really fight like enemys... I'm not trying to be full-out mean, just that's what I remember her as! But I was mean in the "what is Lolita" thread....due to period timey and all... -clap- She seems very nice though! and it's oddly wonderful to see her here! It's makes gaia seem so small when you meet someone in a thread....then suddenly in a guild as well! ^____^ nyah! I adore your avatar though!

I'm sure you've gotten many responces but I'm hoping that this helps a bit....
For one... how well your hair holds that type of curl depends on the type of curls you naturally have (i.e .... loose curls, medium curls, or Shirley Temple curls), how thick your hair is, how dry or damaged it is, and the type of shampoo/conditioner you use.....
since you're not relying on your own curls you'll want your hair slightly damp if using curlers with a gel or mouse like those from Sunsilk or Biolage.... Biolage also has a really good conditioner... it's slightly expensive but you only have to use a little bit so it actually lasts longer than the cheaper ones.....
blow drying is okay... as long as you don't have fine curly hair... otherwise it fries it...
another thing you could use is a steam curler.... wouldn't suggest this for thick hair though... the steam curler makes beautiful curls with thinner hair but lowsy curls w/ thick hair...
w/ thick hair I'd go to Sally's and get some really thin curlers... then either sleep in them after putting mouse or gel in the dampened hair... or blow dry them. You'd only want you use small sections of hair though.
a little note though..... if you want tighter and neater curls w/ your own curls.... leave your hair dripping and let it drip dry.... it's annoying but it allows your hair to curl to it's most extreme possible curl.
Hugs, tea, and candy to all
Bridgit (Yuriko)
