Sweet Lolita, that is.
I love all kinds of cats equally, whether it be the adorable scottish fold, the beautiful persian, the elegant siamese, or the unique hairless, I love them all.
My parents are considering letting me get a cat so long as it's not Hairless (my mom thinks they're ugly, but I beg to differ! They're ADORABLE!) and I pay for all it's expenses (medical, shots, grooming, etc). They can't be too expensive just for the breed (I'm on a budget of 500$ or less for the cat) so I'm all for mixed breeds or more common breeds.
What do you guys reccomend goes best with sweet Lolita (who revels in pinks and lilac colours)? ^^;

Well, I'm hardly an expert when it comes to breed, but I have a Black DSH (with a little white heart-shaped patch of fur on his stomach) who's incredible.
He goes with all of my outfits, and that is high praise coming from me.

How about whatever one you want?
But for the love of god, don't get one at a store in the mall. Adopt one from the SPCA.

C a t h a r s i s How about whatever one you want? But for the love of god, don't get one at a store in the mall. Adopt one from the SPCA. Problem is, I can't decide. Loving all cats equally doesn't make for very good pickings since you're always like "Wow, this Persian is beautiful! But this Tabby is adorable! Awwww, look at this Russian Blue!" So it's more a matter of what do people picture a little Lolita dangling a peice of lace for? Actually I'd prefer to buy a kitten from an independant breeder, we have a lot around here, after I see the kitten with it's mother and can determine how they were raised and if they're healthy or not. I don't think I'd adopt one from the humane society, it's just way too much paper work and I don't like paper work. sweatdrop I hardly ever get my classwork done. I've done my research though, don't worry. xp I hate pet stores as much as the next person...they're horrible. cry

A rabbit XD
Also, I agree that you should adopt. It really isn't that much paperwork and a lot of shelters give you a voucher for free shots/ spay or neuter when you adopt.

Hmm I guess it's changed then. My grandma adopted a mixed breed dog (we think she's a labrador crossed SOMETHING but I dunno xD) and she had stacks and stacks of paperwork to do like "What is family life like" and "What is your income like" and then they sent people to check out her house. o.o Pretty intense lol.

That sounds more like Second Chance than the SPCA. They Humane Society does require you to fill out a profile so that they can make sure you won't abuse or neglect an animal and they do run a background check to make sure you haven't previously done so. It's pretty standard, really.
Also ... uh ... there is no set "animal" for a lolita pet, never mind a specific breed for a specific pet. You're better off finding an animal that suits your lifestyle and habits than your fashion image.

Ah, I'll check it out then. ^^ Thanks. Personally, I know I want a cat. I've wanted one since I was little, and my sister already has a puppy which is the reason I can't get anything else. She had a hamster once and the dog attacked the cage and scared it to death, so I don't think rodents or birds or things that spook easily would be very good match with a hyperactive puppy. Funny thing is, the puppy's very tame with cats, probably because she got scratched pretty bad by one for making it too angry. So a cat is safe, and cute. xD; I'll narrow it down. Specifically, the easiest to find here are Russian Blue, Calico, Persian, Siamese, Tabby, and various mixes. razz

We don't though, and that makes me sad. gonk Only problem I personally see with a Siamese is that they're very short haired and thefore you need to get them little wool coats to wear in the winter, since it gets pretty cold around here. Gotta love Canada. stare Calicos are cute, in my opinion. Good for the climate, too. What does everyone else think? xd

I have to put in promotion for Tonkinese here, the lovely breed of my gorgeous cat Athena. Tonkinese is now an accepted breed, but began as a cross of Siamese and Burmese. The Tonkinese is a wonderful mixture of both breeds' best qualities. The Tonkinese is small and dainty, with a semi-pointed face. Tonkinese are quite talkative, like the Siamese, but have the sweet voice of the Burmese. They have astoundingly soft fur-- and I really mean it, it's incredible-- and are very affectionate and playful even when grown. Tonks are great jumpers, and my parents' old cat (who ran away before I was born) used to jump from the floor straight up to the crown molding and walk around the room. One of their breed characteristics is shoulder-riding, and a Tonk will happily sit on your shoulder for as long as a few hours. According to legend, this is because the Tonk was originally a temple cat, and sat on the shoulders of monks. The Tonk has four colourations-- Blue, Platinum, Champagne, and Natural-- and can be either Point pattern (with the distinct dark points of a Siamese), Solid, or Mink (much softer points). Most of the colours are self explanatory, but Natural is a warm, rich brown. My cat, Athena, is a Natural Mink, and is the dearest cat you'll ever see. She's a bit of a doofus, but not all Tonks are, and it's endearing anyway. Pictures! Blue-- Point, Mink, Solid.Champagne-- Point, Mink, Solid.Natural-- Point, Mink, Solid.Platinum-- Point, Mink, Solid.. . . .You can tell I'm a cat breed nerd, huh? sweatdrop

If it's an inexpensive one you want I suggest you check an animal shelter. You can often find breeds there, plus you will be helping to rescue a poor little animal (sometimes they have some of their shots and stuff already done).
We rescued one of our cats: she's a beautiful girl that looks like a mix of a Turkish Angora and a Maine Coon. She's so lovable too! Our other kitten we adopted from some friends. A lovely little grey and white tabby girl. Both look perfect for a lolita.
Oh, also sometimes it's good to get a mixed breed because they usually have less health problems, therefore taking care of them would cost less. Sometimes the personalities are better too.

Adopt an animal. I don't understand why people would pay that much for a cat, when there's plenty out there in need of homes.
And I hate cats. Does that make me less of a lolita? Pets are pets. Not lolita accesories.
