"Darkness and hat and book's traveler"
personally i think t means 'The Darkness's, Hat's, and Book's Traveler' though the sense of possesion may also be swiped in such a way as to change the title into 'The Travler's Darkness, Hat, and Book'.
I had a similiar problem with the title of manga im trying to scanlate. directly translated it came out 'Pupil of Wolf' though it could be swapped to 'Wolf's Pupil'
That's not the same kind of swap though. "Pupil of Wolf" and "Wolf's Pupil" both have "Wolf" as the thing that's possessing, for lack of a better word. Changing "The Darkness's, Hat's, and Book's Traveler" to "The Traveler's Darkness, Hat, and Book" changes what's possessing what.
Speaking of using "of" instead of "'s," some other possible ideas (some more likely than others) for the translation could be:
"A traveler of books, hats and darkness"/"A traveler of a book, a hat, and the darkness"/Combination of any of those
"The darkness, a hat, and a traveler of books/a book"
"The darkness and a traveler of hats/a hat and books/a book"
"The darkness and a traveler of a book with a hat"
"A traveler of a book with a hat and darkness"
And I'm sure there are some other variations.
And just so we're clear, here's the kana version of the title: ヤミと帽子と本の旅人
I do think it's interesting that the "yami" part is written in katakana rather than kanji or hiragana. I looked it up and it's not the name of any character. I don't know why it might be written that way.
