So, I'm going to Egypt in July of '08 (insert fanatic squeal here) and I was just wondering what tips and info anyone can tell me. I already have a passport and I know I need a visa, but other than that, I know nothing. Thanks in advance!

Do not put the following in your hand luggage (the bag you carry onto the plane):
Sharp objects like scissors, knitting needles etc
Containers with 150ml or more, thats like deodrant.
In Egypt the people want tips alot, even for taking your suitcase to your room so make sure you have plenty of small money (10 Egyptians pounds is the equivilant to 1 British Sterling and about 2 American dollars). DO NOT drink the tap water because it is not sterlised so buy plenty of bottled water (they're cheap out there anyway).
The heat is excrushiating out there, especially in July, and it can get to as high as 45C (50C once) so cover yourself up, wear a hat, sunglasses and frequently apply sun tan lotion (high factor like 15 and more, no lower).
