Well I have this friend who I have know for about two years now. And she said she has a boyfriend and none of us have ever met him but she says he nows us because he sees us at the conventions. The thing is the cosplays she told us he was in were the same ones we saw and we never told her. We also go to talk to her supposed boyfriend on the phone but he sounded too much like her with a deep voice with an accent for she said he is from Russia. But even more recent as in a few months ago she told us he looks a little like Davey Havoc of AFI and we thought sure since you know a lot of people like to copy his hair and style. But the picture she showed us was for damn sure was the real Davey. How did we know. We saw the same photos of him plastered all over photobucket. So what me and another friend did was some snooping. We got a few of the photos that were the ones she showed us and printed them out and showed them to major AFI fans and they clearly said that the supposed boyfriend was Davey. So yesterday we printed out every photo that she showed us off of photobucket and showed them to her today. And she went on saying that "Oh those were his cousins putting up those same photos on their account." but we didn't buy it. So I decided to play along with her (for it was part of the plan) to see what was going to happen. And I found out she is really convinced that her boyfriend is Davey Havoc.
So now she was extremely angry and asked me what to do. So I told her, I'm not sure if this is all true or fake but most of the evidence is pointing to fake so I'm not sure if I can help. But I did tell her to just ignore everyone that talks to her about it.
But what I want to know is what I should do. Keep playing along with her game or just go with my other friend who thinks he is not real. They both are really good friends and I'm not sure on what to do.

I suggest you ignore the whole thing, and pay as little heed to her "boyfriend" situation as possible.
A friend of mine once invented a fake boyfriend as well, thinking that it would get everyone jealous. However, we all knew he wasn't real.
We ignored it, and eventually, when she realized she wouldn't get a reaction out of us, she stopped making the effort to synthesize him.

As for your other friend, is she very vocal about the obvious falsehood of the main friend's "relationship"? If so, you could probably talk to the other friend about allowing the main one to ride on her imagination until it finds no attention, as GilAskan suggested.

I know exactly what you're talking about, I've got a cousin who thinks she is me friend (but isn't) who does the same thing, anymore I just ignore her, but my cousin lied about the shopping mall, she said that there was a store called "Black Out" in the mall, but my best friend was there about a week before Tristain (my cousin) talked about "Black Out", and my best friend said there was no store that could move in, redecorate, then move out in less then a week, and just recently Tristain said that "Black Out" had too many fights and got kicked out. No store can move in, redecorate, open, have to many fights, close, and move out!! So, yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about, so just ignore her that best you can, maybe she can realize no one buys her lie.

Thank you all. I have been ignoring her lately. From what I over hear in class she is still going on about it but I just don't pay her any attention.

NekoYasha09er Thank you all. I have been ignoring her lately. From what I over hear in class she is still going on about it but I just don't pay her any attention. That's probably the best thing you can do right now. If she gets upset about you ignoring her and what not, tell her why you aren't giving her any attention. Most of the time, if someone is doing something that might cost them a friendship, they'll stop once they realize it.

That is what happened since she came up to me and wonder why I wasn't talking to her and I told her why I was ignoring her and she understood. So we are cool now but she isn't with the other one. But she doesn't mind though.
