I would imagine for mundane activities it wouldn't be necessary. If you were leaving the kingdom on SCA business, then I'd notify those to whom you've sworn yourself.
I do not say this with 100% surety, just good reasoning.

I would think that unless they call on you fairly often or you have a specific position in their court or the kingdom politics, you wouldn't have to let them know.

I agree with the first two posters. I only really tell my household members if I'll be away for a long period of time.

This is why I just dont swear fealty to anyone who is not in my household. The Prince is usually a member of my household here though.
All I do in fight behind them in battle, and bow when they come by.

How does one swear fealty? The royalty changes every six months, so it doesn't seem quite right to swear to the current King/Queen/Prince/Princess. Someone spoke of notifying a household, does this mean you've sworn yourself to the house? I know knights and others inducted into a chivalric order swear fealty to those on the throne, but also to the kingdom. What seems to be spoken of here is more personal than to the kingdom as a whole, so I'm brought back to my original question of how and to whom in an every changing royalty line up.
Info, explanation, examples welcome.

I think you swear to the kingdom, but I'm not really sure.

Amalys_Krys you swear to the crown of the kingdom, when the king/queen changes, you vow is to the new crown There are a couple of former Kings of Northshield I'd have been honored to swear fealty to, and through them the Kingdom.
