Where the Wild Things Grow

______________A r e a tab D e s c r i p t i o n ||
tab Once a lush terrain filled with bamboo, grass, and forests, Kusagakure was struck most by the eruption of Konohagakure's supervolcano due to its close proximity, and the readily available tinder. The land of grass was burned to the ground, with the people within it put to the torch as readily as their surroundings. Few of the village survived, and now it is a hollow ghost of what it once was. Due to the rich nutrients in the grounds, however, time has healed some of the wounds of old, and bamboo and trees that seemingly are made from the same material have grown into a forest that echoes with the souls of those who had passed away. A haunted land where fields of graves can be found between large swathes of these bamboo forests, Kusagakure is a land damned by time. Some buildings still remain here and there, but they always seem to fade from time to time, almost as if they are the ghosts of buildings. But inanimate objects can't possibly have ghosts, and surely, there's no such thing!
tab ....Right?

tab • Mirage Arcana → A small city, easily built to house more than two thousand people with room to spare, Mirage Arcana is a home as fleeting as the winds, and housed by many who would call such winds family. A city of illusion, somehow both real and unreal, the city teems with life during the night where it is physically real and acts like your average city. During the day, however, those who call it home vanish upon the wind, burning up mid day as they relive the deaths that brought them there. Whether they are ghosts, or a figment, is difficult to say. Those within know they die, and help as they can. Somehow, food and drink, and some purchases, remain real even after leaving but always leave a slight sheen that whispers of a reality where death is all that can be expected at the end of the day.
tab • Silvered Spire → A tower that is buried half in the earth, made of some sort of bamboo that has silvered in the moonlight. The tower is clearly taller than you see it, but from the outside it is five floors tall and nearly five hundred square feet to a floor. The bamboo tower is rich, with a silver sheen across the wood that cannot be explained. What lies within is difficult to sayt, since there is no door, and there are no windows. All that is known is that on nights of the full moon, clear of any weather, the tower glows with an eerie light, and the sounds of a party in full swing can be heard within that dies as the sun rises.

tab • The Dead → As might be expected, the dead walk the earth. In places these may appear as phantoms, apparitions without substance that do little more than haunt. But when the dead are too close to the Rift, and the black winds of Corruption grow too close, the dead rise as monstrosities to tear all that lives asunder. Beware the dead, for they hunger for the life in your veins.

_______________The Narrator Whispers... ||
tab Through emptiness you float, your minds and souls lost in a dreamless slumber that seems to pass in moments. Your memories of what came before are difficult to ascertain, for little can be grasped in oblivion. Yet as you lay in the darkness you feel something within you, and without, calling your names. A voice both grandfatherly and loving, supportive, whispering to you in a gentle voice that perhaps it is best that you awaken, for the world needs you now more than it ever has. Strange that his name escapes you, and stranger still that he knows your names. Yet all the same something embraces you in warmth one last time before you are thrust outwards in a burst.
tab The sounds of shattering glass serve as your wake up call a moment before rough grass embraces you upon a cold, temperate earth.
tab Around the two of you, sprawling together in a pile, the world you see is a strange place indeed. Trees hang their boughs above you, stiff, rigid, and glowing with white fruit that burn like little wisps. Willows, you would bet, if you know what those are. Around the grass is stiff, firm, yet they resemble the green grass of many lands you've been to but somehow more resilient. They refuse to bend completely at your movements, making the earth a rather uncomfortable place to lay. The night is young, for in the distance the horizon is burning orange, purple, and blue as the sun sets yet the world remains in twilight thanks to the burning of the seemingly natural torches that hang from long leaves above.
tab Natural sounds assault you as you lay still, crickets chirping in the night while things move about their livelihood in the distance. So far nothing lay around you, and you appear to be in the dead center of a clearing with a ring of glass spray about you. Glass, or crystal? The question is answered by your minds and decisions alone, yet you know without even looking that you are not alone. Two humans, possibly familiar, and you need only raise your eyes to meet theirs to begin what must surely be the adventure of a lifetime.

                                                                              In one instant, she is flooded with snapshots of a lifetime that flicker on the inside of her eyelids uncontrollably. She tries to catch the memories, but like attempting to grab a koi in a stream, they slip out of her hands and are gone forever. She recognizes some sense of self when she sees a blonde woman staring at a pond in her mind's eye. She misses most of the images but a few outlandish ones stick out for just a half second longer - strange faces, like a sharp-eyed black-haired young man and a smiling, giddy blonde ( it is better she forgets ) - and sometimes more surreal concepts like two small fish sages ( her mouth shapes 'grandma' and 'grandpa' when she sees them, but she won't remember ) or a giant conch shell monster that allows you to sit on his back and call him cute nicknames despite his intimidating nature. As quickly as these images are here, they are gone. She feels herself being woken up by something not of a physical plane.

                                                                              With a gasp, she opens her eyes and jerks herself up into a sitting-up position, curling forward and resting her arms on her bent legs. She pants, heart racing and pumping blood that burns ( she is reborn ). She cringes at the roughness of the stiff grass around her, something in her gut screaming that this is unusual before it is silenced quickly ( she forgets ). The coolness of the twilight air grants some relief from her panic, and she finds her breathing regulated quickly.

                                                                              She spares a glance to her left and right; she observes two 'people' (is that one a monster?) and the glass shards. Her mind is still reeling even as her body as relaxed, and she finds herself staring right at the monstrous woman beside her. She is fixated on her face ( the voice tries to explain that she's a friend, a good, old friend - but it is quieted, and the finality leaves a deafening silence for her conscious thoughts to fill ).

                                                                              She sucks on her front teeth as words evade her for a moment longer. This is a little awkward, she mentally acknowledged, but I don't really remember these people. Or this glass. Huh. She looked between the two strangers and felt a battle of her emotions play out before curiosity won out. "So, uh, not to sound completely rude but, are we good acquaintances?" She groaned and put a hand to her head, wondering why she was so disoriented when she had a gut feeling that she was usually very much in-the-know. Her gaze fell on the glass shards again and she grabbed one carefully, bringing it closer for inspection. "I have no idea what we were just doing, but I think we were doing it together. I must know you, but... I don't." She bit her bottom lip at the confession. She felt a strong urge to analyze the situation further, but she needed more data ( knowledge is power, power is control, control means safety ).

                                                                              Neryem

                                                        Darkness engulfed Xi's form, her spirit and mind scattered like petals in the wind. In this darkness would come a pulling sensation that would, for lack of a better term, literally drag her out of the darkness and towards some mysterious place. Her already fractured memories would only worsen as her ailing mind would try to make sense of it all. Memories passed her by as she tried to grasp at them in a desperate attempt. They would stay here forever or until she managed to unlock them, however long that would take. After being pulled continuously for what felt like an eternity, bright light would shower itself upon her eyes. Everything was flooded in a bright white light they soon died down as she would pushed herself up from the ground. Groaning to herself, she would feel her tentacles gently sway about as they always did when she left them idle for too long. Her eyes brought her towards the tan skinned woman beside her, blinking as she searched her mind for any memories or names that would pop into her head from this woman. After a brief staring contest, none would come as the monster girl would frown. She felt familiar, but all that Xiao could recall was just this faint basic feeling that they had been traveling together. In fact, it wasn't until she turned around that she spied another person behind her.

                                                        Looking at both of them together as the female spoke, Xiaowan rested, her tentacles coiling around in the grass as an unpleasant taste would grace itself in her mouth. Disgusting. She would much rather have something more meaty to eat than something cattle fed on. Maybe some nice flesh would do the trick. Managing to snap herself out of her longing for answers, Xi tried to answer her question. "(・∧‐)ゞxxGuuuuuuh...Ahhhhhhhdunnuuuuuuh...Fuf." Nothing intelligible came out of her mouth. Not a single word of it. Still, she stared at both hopefully friends of hers as she gave both a quizzical look and would pick up some of the crystal chards that the one female was holding. It certainly was shiny. Her many eyes twitching as they focused on the shards, it wouldn't be long until they all would find some common ground. That or maybe try to kill one another.

                                                        "(◝‿◜)xxJiyuuuuuuuuuu..." She pointed to the nearby trees with drooping appendages! They looked like fruit and something to eat. Her tentacles pointed with her as Xiaowan would look back at her comrades cheerfully. They probably wouldn't have a lick of a clue of what she was talking about, but it never hurt to try! "(^∇^)xxTreeeeeeehhhhhhhs! Fwaaaaaah!" To really drive her point home, her stomach would growl ferociously, akin to the sound a bear would make had it been busy getting flattened alive.

                                                                              Alana eyed the tentacles suspiciously as the woman-monster moaned in response. She couldn't be entirely sure how sentient this creature was, if the noises were habitual or intelligent response. She moved the shard in her hand as she noticed the creature's gaze on, watching the other's eyes carefully as if she could detect thought just by seeing them.

                                                                              Then the woman pointed. Alana re-examined the tree, staring at the wispy fruits. She wasn't sure what to refer to her companion as, be it monster, woman, monster-woman, strangely-familiar-stranger... but seeing another sign of potential intelligence was exciting. Alana forgot about the third passed out member of their party in order to rise shakily to her feet and point to the tree herself. "You want the tree?" Alana flinched at the sound of the creature's tummy growling.

                                                                              She stepped closer to the tree. She should help out this tentacled creature - if they stuck together, Alana might remember more of her past. Not to mention, these wispy fruits could be tasty. "I might remember these wisp things, give me a moment... Memory's a little broken at the moment," Alana chuckled nervously.

                                                                              Neryem

                                                                              Lanfaer

The wind howled in Camael's mind. A flash of cold. Blood. The unknown and an unknowable presence.

These thoughts shot through his mind before Camael awoke. Indistinct shapes and odd memories. Worthless things really.

Camael's eyes flashed open a shocking yellow. He could see a tree and then white fruit burning hot above. The ground below was unusually warm and no snow at all it seemed. How bizarre. The sun was not above him but there was still another source of light Camael could tell. Camael immediately sat up straight to take in the details around him. The sun set before him. Mellow and calming. This certainly did not appear to be the land of snow. A worrying crystalline structure encircled him however. How strange. Perhaps a trap or a seal? This would require investigation.

Next his ears perked up. Female voices? One of them at least. The other voice was a gurgling mess. Was someone dying?

Quickly, before anyone could see his face, he pulled his hood over. The low light helping to conceal him in his brief daze while he took in as much information as possible. He stood up to face the woman and then, that thing, whatever it was. Perhaps these were old classmates? It would conveniently explain where that creature had come from. He'd certainly seen worse failures (or were they successes) than her. This one seemed to at least be able to form thoughts based on the fact it was pointing at a tree. At the fruits maybe?

"Who are you?" Camael's question was short and curt. "Where are we?" Another simple question. He knew that it was possible they might not be able to answer but gathering information was key right now. He wasn't currently paying attention to what was going on and looked around himself to see if there was any break in the crystal circle. Was it a seal of some sort? The girl had some of the crystal in her hand so if it was a seal then clearly it could be broken.

He awaited their answers. His swords at the ready. If that thing turned on him he was ready to attack and he watched it carefully for any unusual movement. Aberrations like him and her could not be trusted under any circumstances.

OOC: Salutations friends. I will work on a posting format for your viewing pleasure eventually.

                                                        Looking at the auburn haired woman expectantly, the monster girl's eyes would focus on many different things in the environment. The sides on her chest and side would be busy focusing on the form and figure of this creature in front of her. The others would be darting every which way. Maybe it would be the crystal still in her hands or the many trees. Whatever their focus was on, they would be twitching and sometimes moving around without so much as a blink. Following the woman to the tree as she went to pick a fruit, the creature would bubble happily at being so close to food. "(◜w◝)xxFaaaaaaah!...Gekgekuu..." Her tentacles would reach up and grab the lowest lying branch, beginning to shake the tree violently in hopes of causing any fruit to drop out or anything. With the tentacles busy, if either of the two were able to look at what lied at what should have been her feet, small maws would be flickering open every now and again, tongues scraping by as a trail of residue followed wherever she went.

                                                        The voice behind them would cause the beast to turn around and face the man near them. He spoke as did the woman before he was currently helping her. Offering the male a mindless smile, she would offer him a bow of her head before continuing to speak and pull on the tree as if anybody could fully understand her. "(^ཀ^」)xxHaaaaa...Crywah fluuuuu. "O-oh, I don't know if those fruits are safe, though..." She frowned as the monster-woman seemed intent on getting some of the fruit. Alana didn't even know what it would taste like, let alone how safe it was. Then another voice arose.

                                                                              She whipped around as her heart skipped a beat, though she quickly realized it was the passed out person from before. He asked who she was, and where they were. Her gaze was glued to his brandished swords. She put her hands up in a placating manner. "I- uh, I'm Alana. We're - uh, well..." She looked at the monster-woman like she could help, then realized that she was incapable of speech in a manner Alana could comprehend. I don't even know. Mind, uh, putting the swords away?" She took a step back towards the tree, considering her options for hiding spots.

Camael's eyes followed the situation closely absorbing each detail. The rapid eye movements gave it away. This girl was afraid. Probably of him given he'd made her now keenly aware of his swords. Not fully brandishing them but with his hands on both ready to draw. Was she looking for an escape route? Unlikely she'd be able to escape in such a wide open area though Camael knew he didn't want to fight the other creature.

"What's that?" Camael moved his jacket to obscure the twin swords again and stuck a finger out at the slupring creature. He wasn't looking to start a fight and he admitted to himself he might be a bit agitated. More than he should be. The creature seemed harmless, for now at least, perhaps a helpful ally. Its bow revealed it was docile and that it had ignored his tone. It was either extremely confident or extremely law. Best to play it safe.

"Clearly you're as clueless about all this as I am." Another rude statement but it wasn't untrue exactly. There was no use in pretending that everything was fine. Doubtless that would lead to more problems down the line. How best to proceed? This didn't appear to be the land of snow and those fruits were utterly foreign to him. Taking a closer look at them he could see that was it was fire but there was no wave where the air distorted.

"Don't touch that. It looks like fire but it's...not like fire." There was something unusual about everything here. Why had all three of them arrived here? There mysteries to unfold and Camael was not in the mood for mysteries.

                                                        Xiawoan would look back up at the tree as the other two people continued talking to one another as she began to feel the hunger pangs continue. The monster woman would let out a troubled growl while removing her tentacles from the tree and then go back to her sides. Eyes would fall on her while she would happily greet them as they did. "(・_・ヾxxHaaaaaaai. " Her eyes blinked and would scurry about as she would go back to mindlessly bubbling about as they continued discussing things.

                                                        Focusing back on the fruit in the tree along with the Flames maybe not flames, Xi's eyes would widen as it danced along. Moving along with it, she would snicker and mutter out a simple minded, "。^‿^。xxKufufufuh...Fuhyaaaa." Leaning closer to the flames, Her tentacles would raise again, this time reaching up to try and collect the fruit hanging from it. The man from before would mention her, telling her not to take or try to touch the fruit in question. Her head spun around at him, giving him a happy look. Once she got the fruits from the treat, maybe they could be shared with the bother of them. "(๑╹ڡ╹๑)xxFuhhhhyuuuuh naaaaaah. Shareeen?..."

                                                                              Alana huffed at the stranger's dismissal of her, even if he was correct in her cluelessness. She hated not knowing. And she certainly didn't like having it rubbed in! Her frown deepened as she wondered heatedly about what qualifications this stranger had in relation to his observational skills in order to talk down to her. She put her hands on her hips as her unhappiness grew, though she instinctively took a step back away from the tree when he said not to touch the fruits.

                                                                              "Maybe," she said as she weighed his warning with the monster-woman's needs, "You should knock the branches or the tree itself so that the tree drops instead of touching the wispy fruit yourself." She rested her thumb on her bottom lip as she thought more about their surroundings. She wanted to investigate the glass-crystals as well, and the tree didn't seem to serve as an indicator of their location.

                                                                              She bent down and grabbed a shard of glass-crystal, then picked up another. She compared their edges, curious of they looked like they could go together. She stared at the collection of glass-crystals on the ground... maybe if she knew what shape they made, she could figure out what it was they came from.

                                                                              She crinkled her nose as a thought came to her. "What if you tried eating this?" She turned to the monster-woman with a shard in her hand. The monster-woman would be the most likely among them to be able to eat actual crystals or actual glass. Maybe these weren't even real crystals nor glass... if fruit was fire-y, glass could be edible... right?

                                                                              Lanfaer

This girl clearly wasn't one for keeping her emotions below the surface it appeared. Had she just huffed at him because he'd told the truth? How utterly childish but could she be blamed considering her physical appearance though his words hadn't been ignored. Not by the girl. The monster didn't care at all. Did it simply not understand him or was it willfully ignoring him? He still could not make out the creature's speech and that worried him. He brushed past his lip with his teeth half concerned but also slightly curious about what may happen next.

He considered offering his fishing rod but decided against it. The fishing rod was his and essential part of his survival equipment. He decided to keep it hidden for now and just watch what the monster did. There would be valuable data to be gathered here. Hopefully her strange physiology might mean that she wouldn't die from eating glass or crystal. Knowing the capabilities of his allies as well as the dangers the area around them posed seemed to be a valuable use of their time.

"I'm going to see if I recognise any landmarks." Camael began to trail around the edge of the clearing looking out for geological formations, towns and really anything which could help to define their location. He looked at where the Sun was setting. At the very least that should mean that direction was the West though it wasn't a guarantee of anything really. Simply knowing what lay to the west of them would only define their position in relation to other structures and geological formations if Camael couldn't recognise anything.

He continued to do this however remained prepared for an attack or an incident. Quickly glancing over his shoulder while he traced the perimeter of the clearing.

_______________The Narrator Whispers... ||
tab "Yeah they call me Krog. I dunno why though. Ever since I was a wee little fade that's been me nickname." A camera crew follows around the being of darkness known as Krog around the forest documenting his life. "Gets a lil boring out here in the woods. Not much goes on now these days heh. I've been trying to learn how to whistle but the damned mask in front of me face really make it hard cause o' me long tongue you see." Krog stops speaking and just stands silently for about 10 seconds looking at the camera. "s**t!"

In the woods lurked something. A being dedicated to harvesting one specific emotion. Which emotion would be left to interpretation by the afflicted. It watched the movements and speech patterns of the new life forms present within it's forest. Imagine living in an empty pond and one day a large rock dropped in the middle of it? It would be like aliens landing on your planet one day without realizing they are alien. There was a being in particular that interested the observer. The being in question that closely resembled the observer. The creature seemed to have problems in communicating with the others. That made the observer smile. What made it even happier was the fact that the two that could communicate were ironically less in tune.

"Ooooooooooooooh woah is me!" Krog shouted before revealing himself to the small group of newly awakened humans. "Alone in such a place with no one to rely on oooooh woah is me!" His acting skills could improve but his focus was not on fooling the two that could understand him. "I have awakened from the crystal domain that imprisoned me and- Oh heavens! It's people like me!" Krog was a cloaked individual wearing a mask concealing his face. What could be seen were tentacles coming out of his cloak. "Are you all lost as well?!" He looked over at Xiaowoan and waved with his tentacle appendages excitedly. "Fuuuuuuuuuuahahaha!" It shouted incoherently. (Hello there my name is Krog I'm 24 like long walks by the beach and feral cats. My favorite color is pale pink and I find this place scary during the night. Pleasure to meet you!)

                                                        The sound of a voice she had never heard of before caused her to pause what she was doing and turn her attention over towards the masked figure. Coming from seemingly nowhere, Xi would recalled her tentacles and turn herself around to rest beside Alana as her many eyes darted to the tentacles that made the figure's bottom half. The other two would do whatever as the maked thing would turn to her and wave. Returning with a wave of her own, Xi was surprised to find she could understand the figure. "( ・ω・)ノxxGyuuuuuuu~ Haaaaaah. Moyouuuuuuuuushi?" She babbled on, her speech patterns incomprehensible as always.

                                                                              Her woes were answered with chaos. She turned her head to see some eccentric stranger in a mask and... tentacles. Oh, great. She just didn't have enough of those to deal with, obviously. Then the masked thing spoke like the tentacle woman had been and she responded in kind. So it was intelligible language!

                                                                              "But what the hell are all of us doing here? And ey, do you recognize this mask guy? He said crystal prison, is he the cause of this glass? Were we imprisoned?" Alana asked all of her questions to the tentacled woman, getting worked up.

                                                                              Neryem
