False Gods: Take 2

Telaer examined the battle calmly, his vines still multiplying beneath the earth. So far Io wasn't in immediate danger, but he would have to pay close attention just in case.

Cuddles let out a hiss. His flames could burn anything, and those stupid spiders found the one weakness. His little cat body charged for where they were repairing themselves, and this time the cat opened his mouth wide. A black fog like substance came forth and headed for the repairing robots. The substance rotted and decayed anything it touched on its way.

Jamie sighed, and dropped the wind, catching them in midair with a shock of chain lightning. The electricity arced through 6, 9, and 11 as they fell into Cuddles' fog, focusing in on 3 and 4. The lightning channeled through the remnants of the arrows, frying them from the inside out.

Io was confused when the two spiders suddenly stopped, but she realized their game when they went to join with their fallen comrades.

"They're trying to heal each other!" she shouted as she bolted toward them with her quarterstaff at the ready. She hoped that they would be more vulnerable while attempting to repair their broken brethren. When she was close enough, Io attempted to smash one of the conjoined pairs with her staff. She was prepared to put up her shield if the spiders attempted anything.

((Edit: The previous two posts went up while I was writing this one, so let's just assume Io has her Ward up to protect her from Cuddle's attack while she's recklessly charging into battle))

Spiders 002 and 007 had almost finished completely healing their comerades when the black fog came rolling towards them along with the woman with the quarterstaff gaint club of buggie death. Naturally they abandoned their bretheren Spiders 003 and 004, and sprinted away from the black mass and started up the side of a building across from the Lightning god. Spider 002 had made it about four feet up the building before the staff came plumetting down smashing its left half. Spider 002 fell off the side of the building and into the fog and Spider 003 had even awakened and started to twitchilly waving his legs before 002, 003, and 004 all turned black, hissed and bubbled, and died.

Spiders 006, 009, and 011 screeched when the chain lightning coursed through them, in that order. Miraculously, 011 had barely withheld conciousness and wobbled over to 006 and was desperately trying to heal itself and its comerade. Spider 009's screech was stuck in a loop and was repeating its last second before blackout over and over. (Eeech, eeech, eeech, eeech.....)

Spider 001 sent his mission report to headquarter's. He knew that the masters wouldn't be very pleased. Vergil was supposed to have protected the Spiders which were expensive peices of equipment. Not to mention the lack of availability of souls to use in their bio-hardware. "Only two of the ten remain. They will most likely be dispatched shortly. The mission has failed. Requesting additional orders." Spider 001 waited patiently while his masters were debating over the new plan.

"Crap!" Arliss said as his wings disappeared. There wouldn't be a easy retreat now. 'Plan B Mushi!'

The limb he had in front of him quickly shot forward towards the man as Arliss fired steam into the solidified fog. The elf brought his second hand forwards as well, dispersing the second fog hand around the steam and firing a second stream of it. Mushi's eyes glow as bladed shards of ice formed in the streams of super heated moisture.

Arliss's legs continued their steam distribution, now firing streams from his knees to make sure he wouldn't fall to the ground before hitting this guy.

"Jamie, that one over there's escaping."

Jamie knocked another arrow and sighted 11 "Go ahead, Alaria." he pulled the string and let the arrow fly.

A sinister cackle sounded around the town for a second, in the reverse of an echo, focusing in on 007. Ice with a black aura exploded out the side of the wall right underneath 007, embedding several shards into it. The aura grew, making the spider give off an eerie black 'glow'.

"Um...Alaria, can these things feel pain?"

Io flicked the end of her quarterstaff, trying to remove the remnants of the spider she had struck from it. Hearing Spider 009's death rattle, she walked over to it and smashed it to put it out of its misery. Jamie looked like he could handle the remaining two, but Io stayed in her place so that she could quickly dispatch a survivor if one of them managed to squirm away.

With the spiders essentially managed, Io wondered when the real fight would begin.

Vergil slashed at the hardened fog weapon and knocked it upwards just in time for it so soar past his left ear. His left hand release the scythe and he held it palm out toward the other speeding appendage. An orb of dark violet corrupted aura grew and swirled to about the size of a small watermelon before being released into the appendage. "HahHA! Gotcha!"

Spider 011 had seen the arrow just before it launched and had turned halfway around in retreat before being impaled. Spider 007 was impaled by the dark aura ice just as it was erecting its Firewall. The Firewall built itself around the ice instead of breaking because it had been there moments, and began absorbing some of the dark aura. The bio-chip healed slowly and Spider 007 pulled itself out of the ice shards and skittered above Io. His bio-chip, in its damaged state, had undergone some kind a weird mutation where the soul of the chip had become corrupted. When the Firewall had absorbed the dark aura his bio-chip could not successfully filter out and convert the elemental energy into pure energy and had become corrupted. Spider 007 leaped down from the building and skittered as fast as it could toward Io, not far away. He would jump on her back, dock, and attach if he got the chance. The masters would be so pleased if he could capture one.

((OOC: If he docks it would take at least two people to yank him off, and the only thing 007 could do is prevent Io from using powers and annoy Valko. If you thought two souls was a crowd, try three. Lolz))

Arliss cried out in pain, clutching his arm to his chest as he flew past the man hitting the ground. "Oh no, oh no, oh no!" Mushi said, getting off Arliss's back, "You're an idiot! An absolute idiot!" With a squeak he dived into Arliss's gun. "Use this damn thing!"

Fog quickly swirled around the both of them, making it impossible to see Arliss getting up and brandishing his gun.

Telaer's eyes were closed as he focused un spreading the vines beneath the earth around the area where the battle was taking place. "Telaer! Protect Io!" The Nature God's eyes snapped open as he heard the voice of a small male child come from Cuddles. A voice he had not heard out loud in.... well he couldn't remember how long. He quickly focused in and saw one of the spiders rushing towards Io. A small smile appeared on his face.

The ground beneath Io and the spider seemed to rumble for a moment, and then flailing green vines burst from the ground beneath and around Io. They made sure not to harm Io, but those were simply precautionary. As the spider ran to the Goddess, vines began to erupt from the earth beneath it. If even one vine grabbed hold of it, the spider would be crushed by the steel hard greenery.

Spider 007 could not fail. He could not. He could not. He attempted to dodge the greenery but it was to no avail. He erected a spherical Firewall in an attempt to keep the vines from crushing him, but the pressure the vines were exerting was immense. The Firewall broke like thin glass. The vines crushed 007 thoroughly as he protested with one final blood-curdling screeh. Black fluid dripped through the vines and onto the cobblestone road.

Spider 001 to Headquarters: The last has failed. Requesting additional orders...

Vergil located the man through the thick fog with his excellent hearing. Fog couldn't stop a blind man. He cracked a grin and the air around him swirled lifting him upwards in a small dust devil. This way he could adjust the wind and dodge things faster. He pointed the blade end of his scythe towards the Fog god and another violet swirling orb of energy collected at the tip. This time, he swung the scythe through the air and the orb formed into a crescent blade which was flung toward Arliss. "Heh, this fog won't save you from my blade!"

((OOC: For future reference, Vergil is blind except when he uses his Pure Darkness release. Then his irises turn from pale to black. The full description of the transformation is on the char sheet. OMG I just got off of work so I'm gonna go sleep for about a month... biggrin ))

Jamie nodded at Telaer as he crushed the spider "Good work." his eyes unfocused as he took his goggles and boots off, revealing the actual color of his eyes "Alaria. Prepare a blizzard." wind whipped around him again and he rose.

"Indeed..." snowflakes started to appear in the air around jamie, and frost creeped along nearby windows.

He turned to Claire and smirked "Aint nobody beats me in a storm." he lifted off of the roof, and the wind gusted him towards Arliss's fight.

(I know he's blind, but Arliss doesn't, plus the fog serves a duel purpose)

The fog around the both of them immediately solidified in front of Arliss, creating a wall that was several feet thick. Using the wall as quick leverage, he whipped himself around the wall and the attack. Arliss pointed his gun at the blind man. The pistol no longer looked just like a regular gun, but instead had tiny blue bat wings across the barrel, and tendrils of cold came off of it.

He pulled the trigger and a single piercing bullet shot towards the man. It would freeze solid whatever it hit.

Claire reached for Jamie as he took off. "Goddammit Jamie, wait!" She raised both arms straight out with the wrists together and her palms facing down West Main. Taking a deep breath, she absorbed any and all heat energy from down the road. Frost covered everything and it had begun to snow, literally. She breathed heavilly, breath creating its own fog. The effort it took to absorb so little energy in so large a space took more energy than it was worth, but she thought it would strengthen Jamie's and Arliss's power. She hoped. After she had caught her breath, she drew her katana, the blade glowing red hot. "Chloe, I'm sorry but I need you this time." Claire became enveloped in a blood red aura. Wings of flame sprouted and spread open from her shoulder blades. She charged toward the enemy with bursts of heat propusion from the soles of her feet making her glide across the cobblestone.

Vergil watched as the man attempted to trick him with the gun. Just as the man pointed the weapon Vergil shouted. "Spider!" "Firewall." Three firewalls appeared before the bullet. The first two shattered easily but the third ricochetted the bullet just enough to the right when it shattered that Vergil could lean left. The bullet sliced across his right cheek causing it to bleed. Vergil frowned darkly at the fog god. "Spider." His voice was almost like a hiss. "We have commands to retreat, for now, Vergil." "Spider! Pure Darkness Release!" "Permission Denied." "What?" "Permission Denied. Retreat for now Vergil. I have commands to retreat on foot." "That's bullshit! I'm not going anywhere or running away from..." A single electric shock was sent through Spider's feet and Vergil's muscles twitched causing him to lose control of his dust devil and slam into a building. "Spider!" He regained his dust devil and started beating his Spider with his right palm with each word. "Stupid little bug. Pure Darkness Release!" "Permission Denied." "Spider I want to see my enemies! I want to fight!" "We have all the data the masters desire. We must leave for now." Vergil just stood there in the dust devil standing his ground until another shock coursed through his body. His frown deepened. "Fine! But next time I get to slaughter something!" He turned to start hovering down West Road.

Jamie soared higher above Vergil as he started yelling at his spider <Alaria...That's not him.> he thought, finally getting a good look at the man.

Alaria humphed "Regardless, he represents negative energy. You know what to do. Meteor crush." she cut off the energy charged for her blizzard power.

Jamie smirked <You finally called it by its name. Ha.> He cut off the wind and angled down, silently dropping towards Vergil <This is gonna hurt...> He folded his legs and grabbed his feet, angling himself as a projectile, ending in a double knee drop in Vergil's back.

**After he hits Vergil, or is somehow blocked, he will activate his wind power to keep himself from splatting into the ground.**
