Crystalrose, is a Bio "Fanatic" most of the time she wont join an rp if there are no bios. But that's not to say that you have to have one. But I'm going to give you tips on how to fill out a bio in a thread that has them. To me a bio tells you a lot about a rper, and the character, which helps me to know if I should accept them.

Bios can also be called Profiles. I prefer the word Bio, but the other applies here.

So let's start with something simple.

Username:

Well this one is obvious. It's not the name of your friends account, or your neighbors account it would be the name of your account. In Example, mine would be Crystalrose.

Character Name:

Now this one is ALWAYS fun for me. Even if I have a hard time comming up with names.

There are many ways of deciding a name, you can use a simple name like "Jessica" or, you can play around with words.

You can take a word and spell it back words, like Lost = Tsol, Heart = Traeh. Giving you the full name of Tsol Traeh.

You can just think of random names, I like to play around with how it rolls off your tongue. If you want to to be pronounce a unique way put that off to the side so...
Jessica Smith (Jess-Ih-Ka)

If you're really stuck you can go to Babynames.com, or even Bablefish and find a word in english that translates to something that fits with the rp.

People don't gernerally like if you use something like "Inuyasha254" as your character name, numbers shouldn't be in the name unless it's a robotic name or there's a reason for it.

The more original, the more fun it is!

Character Age:

Always follow the rp rules with this one.

If you're in a school rp, your student wouldn't be 81 now would it?

If the person asks for a certain age range like "20-30" then follow that.

Make sure that depending on how your character acts reflects how old he is. If he's 100(and isn't magical), then he's not going to be a triathlete.
If your character is an infant he can't talk now can he?

Gender/Sex:

Very, very simple. Male, Female, Girl, Boy, or my favorite It. Now, obviously if it's a normal school you're not really going to have an "it" for a character, unless it's his big secret.

But say you're in a "Fantasy" rp, then you can play around with your character not having a gender, and just be able to transform from both.

Just make sure when you pick a Gender, you stick with it.

Personality:

This relates to how your character acts, you must make sure that you keep with what you write here. I understand this can be hard because I tend to stray from it, but it's important to keep with it.

So, say you want your character to be a mean person. Well, you can't just write "mean". So lets try something more descriptive,

"This character is mean, and is a trouble maker, not caring for others, or atleast not holding regaurd for them."

It gives the same idea but is a little different. And if you want to add even more to it, try something like this,

"If you're in their group of friends, you might end up seeing more of a soft side to them, but not enough to look weak."

Don't want a meanie? Well, perhaps you want some one nice. Same thing works, don't just say "Nice", add to it.

"This character is nice to almost everyone they meet, giving everyone a chance before judging them."

Want to make them not as much of a softy? Try adding more,

"Even though this person is nice, if crossed they'll let that person know instantly."

The possibilities are endless with Characters!

Appearance:

This is how your character looks, this is always fun for me. I close my eyes, and depending on the rp I imagine what this person will look like. Do I want a mysterious looking character? Or do I want a beautiful character?

There are many ways to make how your character looks. You can take influences from your life, like you know that girl with the amazing blonde curls you wish you had, or even your own eye color. I've taken ideas from my friend's dream guy even.

This is the best place to be descriptive, and put thought into. Think of their eyes, what color are they? Think of their hair, is it straight, or curly? What do they wear is it dark or bright? Think of their height, are they short or tall? Think of their smile, is it seen often or not at all? Make sure these things fit with their personality.

You can also use pictures, but I rather like painting a picture with my words. Especially when if you use a Anime Pic, it may just be from some random Hentai, and that'd just ruin it for me.

History:

Fun, fun, fun. Now, this is where your character developes the most. Most people do not like it if you just say "Unknown", because to them it says you're unoriginal.

Now, remember your character's personality? Well, here's where you can explain why they are like that. Remember their weird name? Well you can explain who decided on that. Remember their appearance, perhaps a strange scar? Well, here's where you can tell everyone why they dress like this, or have that scar. If it's a school rp, explain how long they've been going, if it's a rp where the character has a "gift" explain how they got it. There's so much to explain, and this is the place to do it.

Watch this:

"This character forgot their history."

Can now be changed into:

"This character has forgotten all of their history until the age of 17. They've spent the last few years trying to understand the previous moments of their life, but it's really hard, not knowing their parents, if they had siblings, or anything about themselves. They only remember the day that they woke up in a strange room with a splitting headache, walking out of the room with strange faces staring at them, and nothing familiar to grasp."

See how much can be givin from one small idea? You try it. Think of one sentance like "Their parents beat them", and try and work out the hows, whys, and whats of that thought/sentance.

Other:

Now this is for imformation that you may not have gotten a chance to fit in throughout the bio making.

Things like, who their best friend is, the pets they own, or something that may just be strange to others but relevant to you.

Extra Bio things that may arise:

Powers:

This is for rps that have gifted people in them. This is the gift your character has. Now, try and be original, which is really hard with all those movies out there with people discovering powers. But saying you can talk to animals and read thoughts isn't exactly original (Hehe, that was my character awhile back...).

On another note, make sure the powers fit together. Saying that you can produce flames from your fingertips, and that you can talk to animals doesn't fit. If you have one power that has to do with fire, make sure the other one also has to do with fire. Or elements.

Also if there is a limit on the ammount of powers you can have, follow that.
If there isn't a limit don't go overboard with the amount that you have. Don't go, I can shoot fire arrows from my arm, I can breath fire, lazers shoot out of my eyes, I can fly, I can make bombs appear, I can control metal, I can read minds, I can make people do what I want... And on. I'd say keep it to 3.

On another not you are not God, and you cannot just say a person is dead by your power unless that person previously agrees to it.

Weapons:

This is what type of weapon your character has. Now makes sure you don't use too many weapons, and that the weapon fits with the character you have. Don't make him have a gun, AND a bow an arrow. Make sure that the weapon also fits with the timeperiod of the roleplay. If you want to be creative with your weapon do be creative, but make sure it's possible. Also, note that you should limit the ammount of your weapons. Imagine your character holding each one at one time... Yeah...

Grade:

You will probably see this question in a School roleplay. This goes along with your age, if you're 11 you wouldn't be in 12th grade, unless your a genius, and then you can put (Explained in History), however an owner of the rp can reject your character if you put that. So ask them before doing that.

Level/Status/Occupation:

This can relate to many different rps. Game roleplays, where your character might have a certain level. If you're a newbie to the level, or haven't played the game IRL(if it is an IRL game), then you will want to start as level 1 or 2.

As for Status this could count as where you stand in a royal roleplay. Meaning are you a peasant, a king, a maid, a queed, a servant, a duke/dutchess... Make sure you okay these things with the Rp maker.

Occupation works with the above. What job is it your character has. Make sure it fits with the other things within your bio, if he's a macho man, he might not run a floral shop, unless there's something in the history that explains that.

Other things might come up in the roleplay, but that just means you have to read them. Make a bio using my ideas, and post it here to show me if it helped. If you need any help just ask! I love making Bios.

Try out my name backwards after the hyphen and see a shining example.
