With the height of Wi-Fi, remembering the functionality of old-school Internet connectivity is quickly becoming a tech-geek's secret. Last Christmas Jim and I severed our connection to our Wi-Fi modem, when our Cable television and computer provider claimed that we would need to buy into their high-speed Wi-Fi service with their own modem (at a higher price) to keep Wi-Fi running, even though our old modem was serving us well enough.
So, instead, we ran an Ethernet cable directly from our CableBox to our laptop, which has kept our Internet on.
But what we could not figure out, was how to get our Canon Printer/Scanner online and able to communicate with our laptop. So, last night Jim chatted with his tech-savvy friend at the pub, and got direction to plug a cable from the printer to a USB port on our laptop. Then, I needed to enable Internet Connection Sharing in Windows 10, so that my printer/scanner could use the Ethernet as well.
I realize, now, that this seems simple, but if you can't see the full picture -- realization can remained blurred. xD
So, we have done a printing test with success -- but I have not done a proper image scan yet -- so I'll get my drawing hand ready for some superb scanning action!
Well, guild friends, I got my Yes, indeed!
And, since I have my LENOVO laptop bluetooth enabled + recognized, next I will see if I can get my Samsung tablet on board, as well (since my laptop is now acting as a Network!) YAY!

BatChic PRINTER/SCANNER UPDATE 1/11/2022
Since almost forever I have wanted a new Printer/Scanner to be in synch with my laptop. After speaking with Jon, he suggested that having a printer with wifi capability would be best. So, in a recent Shoppers flier, a special price for the CANON PIXMA TR7020 PRINTER under their electronics department lead me to phoning our local Shoppers to see if they had one in stock. They did not, but Amazon did -- with free shipping. So my Printer/Scanner is now on its way -- to be delivered between Monday, January 17 - Thurs. Jan 20. ❤️ YAY!
The Printer came today! (A week earlier than the estimated delivery date.)
Jim and I will not touch our Canon Printer until our computer tech-guy can come over and set it up for us. It's got wifi connectivity, so it ought to get computer-synched quite quickly -- that is, in Jon's hands.
I know from experience than to try to muck with the wifi settings -- it will only give me grey hairs trying to follow along with the Canon instruction video, because, for some reason, the general instructions always seem to be different than for when I want to get into the Windows 11 system quickly.
But Jon is like a magician-wiz when it comes to getting the set-up-synch stuff done quickly.
I'll give him a phone call tomorrow. ❤️👽
