Ever go through a cleansing?
Never! I have loved my dolls for years and always will!
Sure, I periodically weed through my collection.
I have had to sell my dolls for monetary reasons and I'm okay with it.

I remember being so in love with the hobby that I couldn't get enough dolls. Every time someone on Den of Angels posted pictures of beautiful sculpts, I would just have to have them!

Well, two years ago I bought a house. I didn't have time to think about the hobby while we've been renovating. I have 6 dolls that are dressed and posed; I have 26 that are boxed up. I have numerous dolls without faceups that I've never gotten around to finishing. I even forgot I had some of these dolls until I finally got a closet built into the alcove where they'd been stored.

So I think I'm going to sell off a bunch of my collection. On the one hand, I feel that it's a responsible and practical thing to do; we have so many repairs to make right now and I'm about to have surgery. That money would really come in handy.

On the other hand, will I regret my decision? I'm a little worried about that. Because I have collected mostly limited edition dolls that I may not be able to rebuy later if I decide I've made a mistake.

Have you ever left the hobby? Did you keep your dolls in storage or just leave them displayed and ignore them? Or did you sell them--and if so, did you regret that decision?

I really think this is what I want to do, and what I should do, since I'm not putting them to any use at all. But I also feel kind of bad, like they're my babies and I'm discarding them. lol Heeeelp.

(Also, I was recently reminded of how badly I want the Asa sculpt by Iplehouse in, like, multiple sizes. XD And I can't afford a single one right now, but if I sell some of my crew off, I should easily be able to buy her...)

Earlier this year I sold a limited doll that I had impulsively put on layaway in the year previous. He was a little Soom Yarn - the bronze scorpion, and he was adorable. But despite his convenient size for taking to meets, when I was at home, I all but ignored him. Eventually, after seeing a doll I really wanted go on sale I decided to see if I could bear to part with the little one. So packed him into his box for over a month and tried to forget about him. While I didn't forget, I did disconnect and soon after, I sold him to a lovely lady who has since completely re-vamped him. She's happy with her 'new' doll, I'm happy with my incoming doll (if somewhat impatient, damn these waiting times), all is good.

I don't know if any of this helps, but that's just one example of a similar situation and what I did.

I think that was a good plan. My Soom Phonolus has been in his box for over two years, never unboxed, and I literally forgot I had him, so I can't see being crushed if I sell him.
