Dunno if anyone still checks in here, or is aware, but Basara Judge End began airing a couple weeks ago, episode three will be streaming in Japan later today. Judge End is not the third season of the Basara anime, as an entirely different studio has taken this project up, and the art styles are different. The character designs more closely resemble the way the characters look in the Basara games (which hurts when I hear anime-only fans saying the designs are ugly gghhh), and in fact, Judge End is essentially a retelling of the Basara 3 game (localized as Samurai Heroes), so do not expect any sort of continuity between the previous Basara anime and Judge End, as they are separate things.

T.M. Revolution does not perform the opening song this time around but singer Nishikawa Takanori does voice the newest character, one of the Tokugawa retainers, Sakai Tadatsugu; you can check his design sheet here (spoilers)

That's due to a fail on localization's part, Funimation has it listed on their site as season 3 and Raindrops tried to tell them on Twitter that doing that was causing confusion for fans but they don't really care and it's probably better for them to list it as season 3 to pique the interest of fans who liked Samurai Kings. But listing it as a third season is wrong when there's absolutely no continuation between Samurai Kings and Judge End and will inevitably throw off the anime-only fans who were expecting more of what they came to like and didn't get that at all, erk


Personally I liked Judge End, all the way up til the last few episodes. I kinda figured they weren't going to stick with Basara 3's storyline all the way through but the route they took was... ?????

I WAS SO ABSURDLY HAPPY SORIN APPEARED THOUGH, that was the best part of all of Judge End. I'm still mad over the copout defeat they gave Motonari; not the fact that he was defeated because honestly anyone could have saw that coming but just.. the way they did it. Not happy. Also no one died but Hideyoshi and Hanbei, Hanbei forever doomed to die within the first 5 minutes of anything, damn.
