The trickster god was said to have faded out of existence... but was that really so?

The forest is filled with all kinds of plants, shrubs, flowers, trees and even wild animals. One's safety is never guaranteed in midst the forest since it's density makes it difficult to see beyond twenty meters. The emergents and the canopy of the forest block out most light, and what little light that is let through is filtered a light green. Naturally, there are clearings and a small stream winds through the forest floor.

Max lay strewn across a branch, glowering out into the rest of the forest. She was bored. Needed something to do. She couldn't just sit around, and since there weren't any teachers present at the Meika school, there was pretty much nothing to do. She supposed she could go for a fly - it was very relaxing - and decided that it'd be the best thing to do. Getting up, she shoved herself off her branch and landed lightly on her feet. Straightening up, old habits caused her to glance around in caution. Nothing seemed too out of place. She smiled to herself, stretching out her cramped wings. "That feels so good," she murmured, shaking slightly, so that loose any feathers tumbled out. She realised that this wouldn't actually be a good place to get up in the air from - the trees were that thick that you couldn't get to the top. With a resigned sigh, she folded her wings back in again and set off, searching for a clearing in which she would be able to take off from.

The young demon tore through the forest, stumbling over protruding roots and ripping through the thorny briar that spilled across the forest floor. The sharp smell of metal hung in the air around her, but she left it alone, preferring to continue running blindly through the foliage.

Oak didn't know where she was going, nor why she was going there. This obviously wasn't the best method to let off steam caused by ignorant teachers but she didn't want to kill anyone. She scoffed, 'I didn't want to kill anyone~' she mocked herself mentally. Living on the surface had made her go soft. Only a half a year ago, she would have killed without hesitation and with a grin on her face.

Then there was the problem of the huge memory blank that spanned from when she was around seven, the age she was appointed to a member of council, till only a few weeks back. Naturally she had asked others about it, but every time someone told her about it, she would forget it as soon as she heard it. Asking Lirica produced similar results.

With her mind preoccupied with curiosity and fury, it was no surprise that she expertly tripped over a blackberry bush and landed face-first in the decomposing leaves. Exhausted, she propped herself up against a tree and simply sat there, letting her mind run away with the wind. A few minutes later, a tired demonic cat also dropped down from the branches.

"Nya." (You're worrying about something and I don't like that.)
Seeing as it took less effort to speak in Demon, she followed her cat's example and switched to her native language. Any nearby listeners who hadn't studied demon or wasn't a demon would hear nothing coherent.
"Well, my worries need my worrying to feel like themselves, so who am I to stand in their way? And mind you're own business; Curiousity killed the cat."
"Nyan. Meow." (No. Stupidity killed the damned cat and the dumb thing deserved it.)
Oak sighed, this was going nowhere.
"Only you, Liri, only you. Now sit there and tell me if anyone comes. I'm taking a nap."
". . .Nyaaaan. Nya." (Noooo . . . Lazy b***h.)
"Shut up, kitty. Or I'll tie you to the tree."
Silence followed as the demon fell asleep and the cat seethed on the first branch of the tree her mistress was sleeping against.

The boombox was hooked up to an iPod Ali had "borrowed" from Valerie. It was belting out some kind of electronic music called "dubstep" or something. It was good, but every time Ali reached over to change the song, she would get zapped bad enough that her hair would stand on end. So she didn't change it, even when a bad song came on.

The music was loud enough to scare all the birds out of the tree that she was sitting in. And the trees around her. And the trees around those trees. Her (illegally downloaded) music carried. And it was starting to hurt Ali's ears.

She hopped down from the tree. She was alone, her goodie-goodie holder had decided NOT to go with her and stay at Gelder. Ali stuck her hands in her jacket pockets. She rarely got out of the city, and it was a nice change of pace to go walking through some woods.

Max stopped dead when she heard the faint sounds of bad music floating through the air. ' . . . Who the hell plays bad music loudly in the middle of a forest? What the hell?' She ground her teeth together, clenching her fists. If only people would stop attempting to defile forests. Deciding to go and kick the a** of whoever decided to blast shitty music, she changed her direction and set off towards the music.

Overhead, she saw a few flocks of birds bolting from the trees. Max shook her head. Displacing birds? That was one of the worst crimes in her book.

She began to speed up, soon moving at an inhuman pace. When she was a few hundred metres away from the source of the music, she stopped. Her ears were throbbing - sometimes advanced hearing was a total pain in the a**. She stared through the trees, her eyes soon spotting a girl holding some piece of technology. Joy. She looked as though she'd been shocked at some stage - her hair was standing on end.

Unable to move any further for fear of her head imploding from too much noise, Max was content to glower at her threateningly, probably looking like a stalker in the trees. It wouldn't matter, though, because the girl, unless she had heightened senses like Max did, she would not be able to see her.

There was no one else around, though, either. That was good. She wanted to be free to glare in silence - after all, yelling would be pointless.

Setting the boombox down, Ali walked a couple feet away and picked up a small stone. She walked back over to the box, now blasting something that was probably in Swedish or some other foreign language, and tapped the rock against the power button. Even though she hadn't touched the box herself, an arc of electricity connected with her finger. This time her hair stood up so far it lifted the hat off her head.

"Shi--" she said, falling backwards into some mud. Well, at least now her ears wouldn't bleed anymore. And the squawking birds might come back. They were louder than hell, but they at least looked better than a boombox.

She stood up, scowling at the mud on her jacket. She should probably get that rag boy, Stitch-what's-his-face, so wash it out. He seemed to be good with clothes.

Max watched in curiosity as the girl placed the stereo down and picked up a stone, before using the stone to turn the device off. At first, she had been a bit confused as to why she had felt the need to use a stone to turn off the stereo - then she saw the electricity jumping out to meet her fingers. That her hair was standing on end now made sence, and soon her hair had been raised so badly that the hat on her head was actually lifted off.

Raw, pure satisfaction came to Max as she watched the girl tumble down into some mud. Ha. Serves her right, defiling the place with her disgusting music. She was now inspecting her muddied jacket, a ponderous look upon her face.

Figuring it was now or tomorrow, Max advanced hurriedly, wanting to cross the few hundreds to yell at her in a quick yet half-calm manner. "Hey!" she yelled out, eyes fixed on the girl. "What in the hell is your problem?" Admittedly, she was still a little over a hundred meters away, but hopefully the girl would hear her.

An echo, muffled by the soft ground and trees, made Ali peer around her. It sounded to her like somebody was pissed at something, not by the words, which had been lost in the wind, but by the general tone of the voice. She ran a hand through her hair, which was still sticking up with electricity, in an effort to smooth it, with only limited success.

She stooped down to pick up her hat, then bent back up. "'Ey," she called out, to anybody listening. "Anybody around?" The voice couldn't have been more that a quarter mile away, otherwise she wouldn't have heard it. Whoever it was might have been talking to her, and therefor angry at her. Ali's eyes scanned the trees, but the trees yielded no strait lines, only organic lines. She could see movement, but it was harder to focus on any particular shape in the forest than it was in the city.
