I can't stand him. I never quite understood why he's that popular, he's annoying beyond belief. But the whole cast seemed odd to me, as if they had too blunt personality traits, and were hardly any fluid. Even if they weren't all exactly fitting under a stereotype, most of the characters could only get described by one word. In Edward's case the word was: obnoxious.
No, for serious, he's loud, and even if he's determined, he shoves his determination down people's throat, same with his beliefs, even if he's determined, he expresses it in the most awful way possible. He seems oblivious, and at the limit of being simply careless about it, about who he hurts with his decisions (betraying his master by joining the military, contradicting Rose's beliefs in the bluntest way possible, etc) and yet people find him courageous...and honorable? No, oh ******** no. He's obnoxious, refuses to get proven wrong, shove his views, his action, his whole existence down people's throat, and people actually like him for it? No, even if I hate Envy too, I really, really, loved seeing him kick Edward in the stomach in their first fight in the first anime series. It was definitely in my top 5 of the best fanservice moments I've ever seen. Because to, me, oh, to me, that was some hell of a fanservice moment.
He's also an example of why I can't stand 99.9% of the atheists I've encountered, even being an atheist myself, I just think that most of the others are just plain disrespectful twats who really deserve a bitchslap or 243.
