Saltwater vs Freshwater tanks

Which do you prefer and why? heart

I have an empty 29 gallon tank that I would like to set-up soon.

I just can't decide which type of tank & fish I want mrgreen

ive only got 2 tanks, my 20gal community and my 10gal which has a female betta, neither tank is that nice. once i ge the space i plan on upgrading my community to a 55gal

i prefer freshwater because its so much easier and i m not that consident at my fishkeeping skizzles. plus plecos are freshwater and they are my favorite fish

though i would love to keep a saltwater tank of rays and skates, but i dont think ill ever have the time, money, or space for that lol.

I have a 20g with 10 pygmy corys, 3 bloodfin tetras, 1 bn pleco, 2 german blue rams, 1 betta and 2 "green" corys. 5.5g with 3 dwarf puffers and an oto. 10g with 4 kuhli loaches and 2 adfs. My 2.5g is empty right now, but I'm turning into a saltwater nano with dwarf seahorses when I can afford the equipment.

I'd say freshwater is easier, but if you're curious about saltwater, the 29g would be a decent size to start with.

I like freshwater more. It is easier to handle, saltwater has a lot to do just to insure your fish make it through the day.

I have a 50 gallon freshwater community tank. Swimming about are tetras, a couple rams, loaches, and rummy noses. I prefer freshwater mainly due to the lack of real work to keep one going. I'm pretty lazy in that department. xp
But saltwater really isn't harder than fresh if you're interested, its just more work to keep things maintained.

I use to have a freshwater but I have a Saltwater right now. I prefer Saltwater because it makes me feel proud for all the hard work. And Saltwater will never cease to entertain you, there could be always a hitchiker in your live rock, serious growth from SPS corals, or a Fish that spawned.

alright, i'm not too much on a side for this one, but i'll explain the pros of both. saltwater are easy to maintain once you have everything balanced out right. however, the fish are astronomically priced, and you need more expensive equipment and so on and so forth. freshwater tanks are my favorite, for they are relatively inexpensive, but take a bit more maintenance and you need to remove water more ect. ect. if you're looking for a in between tank, you can try an aggressive freshwater tank, for they have the most color and are very easy to keep ^_^

Once a salt water tank is up and running it is 100% more low maintenance than a fresh water tank ( less water changes). But aside from that I like the Fresh water cost a lot more. And ATM because of cost it is the only one I have aside from a goldfish and a crayfish.

I've worked with both. Saltwater definitely has more needed maintenance and more things that can go wrong. Freshwater, all you need to do are weekly water changes and you're set. I could fix most fw problems in my sleep. With saltwater, there are more parameters to worry about, evaporation is more of a problem than it would ever be with fw, and the fish are a lot more delicate.
