Beauty in the Night

I look
back
Thinking to myself,
What was I thinking?

I sit in a field
Under the moon
Thinking
What is it like?

To be up so high?
To know that you’re being looked at...
Knowing that people think you’re beautiful
Being waited upon

You bring the darkness to light
You show us a new day
You have your friends
Show us the way

Those stars burn out
Like fading personalities
Everything changes in the world
We have to move on

We forget about these stars
But we shouldn’t
We should always have a memory
of what was then and what’s now

About the Author

My name is Spaztastic Rain and I'm 13 years old. I grew up in a small city that had a lot of characteristics that were similar to a big city. Of course, in every city, the sun sets and the moon rises. I'm very intimidated by the night’s presence, hence the title of this poem.
I've been heartbroken, felt like I was forgotten and told I wasn't beautiful, but that didn't stop me.
