I actually expected that, and in the movie you can see that sweeney turns his head a bit up, he probably knew that Toby was there, because Toby can't disappear, so Sweeney was waiting for Toby to finish him, so he could be with his wife

I know I already posted here, but a local production that I saw recently had Sweeney kill himself. o_o I'd never seen anyone do that before... it was always Toby.

And the song at the ending is awesome too. It was the perfect ending, in my opinion. I mean, it's a dark movie. It definately won't end with everything turning out the way it should be ('cept for anthony and johanna)

I know the musical well, so I knew what was going to happen, to a point. Am I the only one who didn't understand why Todd was still over Lucy's body as opposed to slumped over it. I mean if you're gonna die, what held him up? Doesn't make sense. And the bleeding on her face was rather appallling too. Don't get me wrong, I love the blood in the movie, maybe too much was used at the end. I love the death scenes during the song "Johanna." That's somethng you would obviously not be able to do in the live theatre.
