I've read quite a lot of books. Read the Inheritance series by Paolini, The Inkheart series, anything by Tamora Pierce, Stephanie Meyer (famous for making the vampire/love novel), Eoin Colfer books, primarily the Wish list, The Supernaturalists, Airman, and the Artemis Fowl. Oh not to mention Harry Potter, House of Scorpions, THe Sea of Trolls, And THe Eye the Ear and the Arm.

The Green Rider series by Kristen Britain (I think that's her name)
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson (It has a crazy amount of action and humor)
The Black Cauldron, Taran Wanderer, The High King, The Book of Three, etc. by Lloyd Alexander (It's all a series if you're wondering)
The Ear, the Arm, and the Eye by ???? (I don't remember if it's the arm, ear, eye, or eye, arm ear, but whatever. The book include quite a bit of African folklore, which I find fascinating)
The Guardians of Time series by Marriane Curley (fantastic series!!!!)
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (It's a bit complicated. So don't read it if you hate hard to follow plotlines.)
The Earthsea Cycle by Ursula le Guin (ancient books, but great!)
The Blue Swords, The Hero and the Crown both by Robin McKinely (lovely, with pleasing heroines)
Anything by Tamora Pierce!
That's it for now!

TempestRising Fans of Tammy P (my affectionate nickname for Tamora Pierce) should check out Mercedes Lackey.
Since she's written 70 books, she's had some hits and misses. But I whole-heartedly endorse her Bardic Voices Books and I've heard the Heralds of Vladmar books are even better. Heralds of Valdemar, that is. And some more by her that might interest people include the SERRAted Edge series( elves in the modern-day world done in a spectacular way in my opinion) and the Bedlam's Bard series has me absolutely captivated right now. For the more mature reader I'd suggest the Thieves' World series. They are written by multiple authors, you will find the lump of them under Robert Asprin as the editor and creator of the concept, and some side books by Janet Morris.(Perhaps more, my information is a little outdated sorry.) For those of you who just want a taste of comedy, I'd firmly hand you "The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld" by Terry Pratchett, compiled by Stephen Briggs. It's a collection of quotes from the many Discworld novels that can be picked up and put down at any time, and is guaranteed to give you a giggle at some point. I would also like to put another word in for Mercedes Lackey, as she is an author that you almost can't go wrong with. She has a little something for everyone at some point in her career, and it's not like she only wrote "a few" books. biggrin

-the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer
-Harry Potter (obviously) by J.K. Rowling
-the Ingo series by Helen Dunmore- not very well known, but don't let the front cover put you off (it has a mermaid on it), it's really good and nothing like those fairytail mermaid stories...
-the Cherub series (it's like Alex Rider, but the action scenes are much better) by Robert Muchamore
-the Alex Rider books by Anthony Horowitz
-the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
-the Wind on Fire Triology by Willian Nicholson (personally, i found it really boring and couldn't bring myself to finish the last half of the 3rd book, but it's one of those books that once you start reading, you can't stop, even if you are really bored)
-His Dark Materials Triology by Phillip Pullman
-The Valley of Secrets (one of the best books in the world! It's really good! And the imagery is really realistic so you can actually get a clear picture of everything that's happening), by Charmain Hussey
-The Da Vinci Code, Digital Fortress, Angels and Demons and Deception Point all by Dan Brown (seriously, he's one of my favourite authors)
-the Young Bond series by Charlie Higson
@ Suzuka: Howl's moving castle movie was really good! Well, the storyline is a bit confusing/boring but i love the music...
