The Mana Wars

[Maha1930]

The two turned the corner and came upon a dozen soldiers surrounding Vex's house. he immediately turned back around the corner grabbing Jessie and Lucius as well. "s**t! s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t, s**t! This is not good! They know where I live! And we can't go back up the elevator cause they'll probably be expecting us! Great, what are we going to do!"

Jessie immediately recognized where they were. She quietly jumped up and down clapping her hands. She whispers "Sorry, but I know where we are! Haven't you ever noticed the buildings up there and down here are the same, just up there is classier? This alley is where I jumped from building to building to get into the palace! Come on, follow me!" She grabbed Vex's arm and pulled him over to a ladder along with Lucius.

"Climb up the ladder." Jessie instructed, climbing up the ladder. All three reached the top and looked around. "All we need to do now is figure out where to jump to for safety. Or we could watch the soldiers from here and see what they are doing." She offered to Vex.

Vex finished clambering up the ladder. "Jeez lady, I didn't know the fear of getting captured again would consist of so much exercise!" He exclaimed wiping his brow and bending backwards so that Lucius could jump to safe ground on the rooftop.

Vex snapped his fingers as a questioned formed in his head. "Hey, Jessie, didn't you come on a ship? You think we could get on a cargo ship and high-tail it outta here?" Lucius barked. He hated travel, especially one involving flight.

"Lucius!" Vex quitely shouted at him, grabbing his snout. "Shutup! You'll alert the-"

"Hey over there! They're on the roof! Get'em!"

"-guards....s**t. We gotta move, like NOW!"

"Yea it was on the emperor's ship. And if ya still want to assassinate him, leaving wouldn't be the greatest idea. What we could do is hide in his ship and wait for him to go to another planet. I don't know about you, but I still want to kill the b*****d." She said as she saw the guards running to the building.

"For now, the best idea I've got it to jump to each building till we reach the elevator, board it and make out way to the space dock." Jessie positioned herself to start jumping.

"True, true...he still has my coat. Well, for now let's just try and make it to the space dock undetected and we'll go from there." As soon as Vex uttered those words however a bullet soared past his shoulder, narrowly missing Jessie's right arm. "Let's move! Now! They're right behind us!"

Jessie nodded and started heading toward the dock. All three of them dodging bullets and spells as best they could. Jumping buildings may have seemed easy at first..Till you're being attacked.

Sooner or later they reached the elevator and it went up leaving the soldiers below behind. As they reached the top, more guards came after them. "s**t!" Jessie ran for the dock, "Come on! No time to spare. The sooner we get up to the dock and hidden in the emperor's ship, the better."

As the party ran towards the space dock, Vex thrusted his fists in the air at the oncoming guards, sending balls of fire hurtling towards, knocking them back and out of commission. But there were too many coming towards them, numbers multiplying it seemed with every step they took. Lucius slashed and gnawed the ones that got closest to them while Vex, burned them to a crisp. But it was still no good, they had to reach the space docks and fast.

"Yo Lu, execute plan 13!" Lucius nodded and Vex did a backflip, landing on Lucius's back and catching up to Jessie. Vex outstretched his hand extending it to Jessie and she took it. The three of them gained speed, with Vex still firing and Jessie backing him up from the rear. The three reached the space dock, but it would seem impossible for this to be a covert operation, since they were getting so much attention from the soldiers. Vex reached into Lucius pouch positioned under his butt, and pulled out a black ball which he tossed onto the ground near the soldiers. Then, he thrusted his fist in the air, targeting the ball. A flame shot out from his fist, hitting the ball, showering the square in a cloud of smoke.

Then Vex kicked Lucius's sides, telling him to speed up. The three headed for the nearest ship with an open docking bay, which by the looks of it was the Emperor's. They galavanted into it, jumping off of Lucius and behind some cargo littered across the docking bay. They saw the soldiers in the distance look over in there direction and simply turn to go the other direction.

"Sweet! They bought it! Didn't think we were stupid enough to go right into the ship of the guy trying to punch our heads off. But, so are we, so it's all good."

"Haha!" Jessie said quietly so the guards wouldn't hear. She looked around making sure that no one was looking then grabbed Lucius and Vex and dragged them into the Emperor's ship.

"We can hide in his cargo station. It's at the bottom of the ship with large windows. There we should be safe till we dock at the next planet." She said leading them down a bunch of different staircases.

They finally reached the bottom as they heard guards running at the top level. " We'll be fine as long as they decide not to search the cargo." She walked over to a door and punched in a bunch of numbers she saw a couple guards do when she stowed away.

The door swiftly opened and Jessie pushed them two inside. She walked in and closed the door quietly, making sure the sealed lock didn't make much noise to alert the guards. Jessie walked over to the same box she had chilled on on her way here and lunged herself up onto it.

"Just sit back, relax and wait." She said leaning against the wall and closing her eyes.

Vex filled with his hair, twirling it as he himself propped himself up on a box. "Lovely, me and Lucius get to spend who knows how long listening to you rant on about your tales of woe. How exciting. So, what story are you going to tell first Ms. Jessie? Little Bo Peep? Or Goldilocks?" Vex laughed sarcastically while scratching Lucius behind the ears.

She opened her eyes and stared at him. "None. I was planning a hopefully quiet and relaxing ride before another battle begins..." Jessie said glaring at Vex.

Vex smirked. "Nope, c'mon, let's here Jessie's story."

Jessie looked away and stared off saying, "I don't have a story." Then she jumped down from the box and walked to the window, looking out.

Vex laughed not believe her one bit. "Oh come on, everyone has a story! Fine, would it help if I told you ming first?"

She turned around to look at Vex. She didn't say anything for a few minutes. "No. It wouldn't help. Some people just don't feel like telling their life story, or any other story. Some people just hate their life stories." She shook her head and turned back to the window.

Vex nodded at Lucius and he ran up to Jessie nudging her hand. "Look, even Lucius wants you to tell it, c'mon now, don't be shy." Vex said tauntingly.
