Recently, I've taken to read "A Game of Thrones", I like it thus far and it has been warmly recommended to me by many friends. I, of course, like all Harry Potter but I like more the 4th one as it is just the good measure between good and evil, light and dark... For those of you who read French (more particularly, those from Quebec), I have an excellent trilogy for you. "L'Ange Écarlate", "L'Eau Noire", "L'Ombre Pourpre" by Natasha Beaulieu. Truly, I love those books, especially the first and the last... I've got to reread them all, I just finished the last one.... heart

Here are just a few of my favoties, with summarys given by the Publishers
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Summary
Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balance precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.
New Moon, Sadar's Keep & Beldan's Fire by Midori Snyder
Summary
Two hundred years ago, the Fire Queen destroyed her rival queens ofEarth, Air, and Water in the fateful Burning and took power over Oran. No child with a trace of the elemental magic was alloved to live. Years later, the country still trembles under her oppression. But now there are rumors of hope. Four young women escaped—four who have the powers of Earth, Fire, Water, and Air—and are even now finding each other. At the same time, a ragtag army of artists and singers, orphans and vagrants, thieves and knifewielders is stealing into the city. Their sign is the bloodred, blade-thin New Moon . . .
Beauty by Robin McKinely
Summary
A young woman, well educated and honourable, accepts responsibility for her father's act and leaves her family to enter the enchanted world of castle and Beast. The Beast she finds is not the one she imagined, but can she stay with him?
Crown Duel by Sherwood Smith
Summary
Battle on and off the field, with sword and fan, with might and manners...
It begins in a cold and shabby tower room, where young Countess Meliara swears to her dying father that she and her brother will defend their people from the growing greed of the king. That promise leads them into a war for which they are ill-prepared, a war that threatens the homes and lives of the very people they are trying to protect.
But war is simple compared to what follows, when the bloody fighting is done and a fragile peace is at hand. Although she wants to turn her back on politics and the crown, Meliara is summoned to the royal palace. There, she soon discovers, friends and enemies look alike, and intrigue fills the dance halls and the drawing rooms. If she is to survive, Meliara must learn a whole new way of fighting--- with wit and words and secret alliances. In war, at least, she knew whom she could trust. Now she can trust no one...
Darkhenge by Catherine Fisher
Summary
It's been three months since Rob's younger sister, Chloe, fell into a coma after a riding accident, and his life is in disarray. Rob's parents spend most of their time at his sister's bedside, and his best friend is afraid to talk to Rob about Chloe. To distract himself, Rob takes a job working at a secret archaeological site, where workers have uncovered a mystical ring of black timbers. At its center an ancient tree is buried upside down in the earth -- a tree with the power to transport Rob to the Unworld, where Chloe lives in a forest of enchanting dreams, trapped between life and death.
The Naming by Alison Croggon
Summary
Maerad is a slave in a desperate and unforgiving settlement, taken there as a child when her family is destroyed in war. She doesn't yet know she has inherited a powerful gift, one that marks her as a member of the noble School of Pellinor and enables her to see the world as no other can. It is only when she is discovered by Cadvan, one of the great Bards of Lirigon, that her true identity and extraordinary destiny unfold. Now, she and her mysterious teacher must embark on a treacherous, uncertain journey through a time and place where the forces of darkness wield an otherworldly terror.
EDIT:
I'd like to also add that I'm recommending any book by Tamora Pierce. She is an absolutely fabulous author and has what I find to be original stories. I love her and she is the author that sparked my love for reading.
