The light of the blue moon . . . .

Damian shook his head once she asked him if he wanted tea, though he should have taken her offer. He knew it was best to follow her since he didn't want to be left behind for someone who lived here. At least she had kept him alive this long, most others would go for a straight kill. He watched her carefully before he began to follow her again once she started walking. Perhaps he followed her because it wasn't the fear of being lost, just being alone. He had been on his own for awhile, and it grew tiresome after some time.

She glanced speculatively at him, eyes black once again, but dismissed it and placed the remote on yet another holder on the wall. "Suit yourself." Finally making the turn into the true labyrinth of hallways and rooms, dead ends and secret passages, she checked behind her to make sure that he was close enough to track her before slipping through a holographic wall to the hallway on the other side. Their security was impeccable, even this far in the earth. They didn't take very well to dying...

Not much further, and she'd reach her room. It wasn't her main room- the one where she normally spent her time- but one of her rooms, anyway. It was closest to the entrance- less likely to tire Damien on on the way there. Stopping, so that Damien could catch up, as opposed to trailing her from a bit of a distance, she viewed her route in her head. It was a bit confusing, but her memory, as always, was perfect. There were enough turns, though, to befuddle anyone who didn't know what they were doing. Best to wait so he wouldn't end up lost anyway. She could smell her tea from her- once Damien got a bit further, his human nose would be able to smell it, as well.

The light of the blue moon . . . .

Damian followed her, actually stopping at one point to play with holographic wall. He still wasn't quite use to the idea of being in this place with that girl. He wondered if she planned on killing him sometime soon or making a pet out of him. He chuckled to himself silently. Oh, he didn't really favor either of those ideas. He finally stepped through it and rushed to the girl's side, hoping he wouldn't lose track of her here.

A pet? Interesting. He seemed morbidly fixed on the idea of her killing him, too. Chuckling out loud, for the first time since...well, damn, it wasn't like it would happen again too soon either, so it pry wasn't worth taking too much notice of. Their victims weren't kept- they had lives of their own. They made sure they were healthy, stuck a tagging system on them to ensure they didn't get hurt in the next two weeks, the time it took to regenerate completely the blood lost, and then took no more notice. If someone ended up as dinner more than once, then that was one hell of a coincidence. It wasn't like this dictated the rest of their lives.

As he stopped at her side, Doro snagged Damien's shirt, then began going considerably faster, forcing him to a near run. Left...right..press the notch, through the wall at the "dead end", turn left, drop a level, turn right, up a level, and...home. Damn, it was good to be here. Releasing her hold, Doro walked to her- now ready- cup of tea, inhaling the aroma of unsweetened lemon and rose hips. And that right there, it made her day. Downing the scalding liquid in a single long drink, she replaced the cup on the ledge she had retrieved it from. Time to face the tougher bit.

"Let's get this straight. You're not going to die, although your thoughts and mannerisms make it pretty damned hard to stop. I am, though I may not have really shown it, still thirsty. There's not really a damned thing you can do, so I really hope you don't try anything stupid." Talking was giving her a headache. Made her want to do something physical, smash something or two. Drawing in a breath- which, now she noticed, was sending a flash fire through her parched throat- she continued on. "As for after I'm done- well, we make sure you're healthy, then make sure you stay that way for two weeks away from us, and then you don't matter anymore, unless we end up with you as prey again." The truly addicted either found out about the feeding system or figured their feeding patterns, intercepting when they could. A bit annoying, actually.

Her eyes were bloodshot again- she could tell from the sharpened vision she had of the room, every detail in perfect focus. Her fangs, extending themselves again, she automatically let hang out of her mouth- pressure on them only increased thirst, and holding them in put enough pressure on them to send a vampire into a bloodlust that could kill towns- only once had the mistake been made. So simple it would be to just drink now, but if she was going to provide time now, she might as well follow all the way through.

The light of the blue moon . . . .

Damian quirked an eyebrow at the girl. "So you basically dragged me here for no reason, which takes up more of your time and if you just drank from me earlier you wouldn't be hungry now." He pursed his lips and nodded his head. "Your logic still doesn't make any sense to me." It probably wasn't a bright idea to be speaking to a hungry vampire like this, but what the hell. He wouldn't be anyone to her in two weeks, so why start caring now?

Logic? "I wasn't explaining logic. You would've been brought here anyway, I just like to make sure I get back before the others, so I can be sure we'll stay safe. We bring you guys here to make sure we don't kill anyone that doesn't matter." Her voice was dangerously soft, which was a bit more normal- when she lost her temper, she got quiet, like a snake's deadly and insinuating hiss. "Why I'm still thirsty is your fault. If I had kept drinking, I wouldn't have been able to stop, because of your errant wish to die. So now I'm hungry, with a really short temper, and wishing I didn't have to talk so frigging much." Not to mention wishing she hadn't just let so much of her become apparent. Idiot, she berated herself.

Her blunt way of putting things, when she bothered to explain them fully, generally unseated people. Without even realizing it, she had degraded the existence of other people- not because she meant to, but because that was the way she thought. Her prey didn't matter enough to kill- it was that simple. Creating the impression of relative harmlessness of their own accord to the general populace mattered more than did the murder of an unlucky soul. Not for the person's sake, but for their own priorities.

The light of the blue moon . . . .

Damian sighed heavily and sat crossed legged on the ground. "That sucks for you then." He said, resting his chin on the palm of his hand. His eyes seemed to stare off into the ocrner of the room. Why didn't she find someone else to drink off if he had caused her this trouble? It didn't seem reasonable to keep him around if he was just going to keep her hungry. Or thirsty. Whatever. Still, it seemed a bit odd to him. Surely there were others who were near by who were less troublesome prey unlike him. Though, it was only natural to long for death in times like this. To go from a seemingly wonderful paradise to ruins and mutation.

Her face registered no emotion at his spoken comment. Everything was beginning to tint crimson again... damn. Think. Just think. Thought makes instinct go away.

Most of the time.

But, in an attempt to follow her own advice, she forced herself to focus on other things. He had a point- why didn't they try for more than one target? Instinct, maybe? Habit? If anything, to keep their own affairs simple...and while a paradise this world had never been, it certainly was compared to what they had now- openly hostile factions and cities, government nearly entirely disbanded, but for where those wielding power decided to reign. People turned against each other, killing and starvation a given, mutations breaking ties between a once unified race.

Damn. Thinking wasn't any fun. Vision hazing over, she broke from her position of where she had been standing, motionless, in the middle of her room and arrowed to Damien. Ripping off the bandage, she- as carefully as ever- realigned her bite to match the previous one, and sinking her fangs into the same spot as before, again waiting until her saliva took effect, then guzzling. Damn, it felt good...and the bitter-salty-corrosive-sweet taste of blood was welcome. Realigning his head for a less cramped position as she drank, Doro felt walls go up around her mind.

They were her defense mechanism- not much could make them come out on their own- they generally only went up when she didn't want to deal with thoughts of those around her or was thoroughly confused. The steel walls were most common when she had been at the orphanage, before she learned to thin it to a screen when she wanted, sensing only hostile intent and the like, her protection against the world. As far as she knew, while she was shielded, nobody could sense her mind- not the other three, anyway, though their powers weren't much to remark upon in the terms of telepathy. So, it was a two way thing- they couldn't see her, she couldn't see them. Useful, most of the time.

The light of the blue moon . . . .

Damian yeled as she sank her fangs into him again but his eyelids drooped half closed once feeling the same esctasy as earlier. He gave in to her, not even bothering to even try and fight against the false emotion or her. He kept quiet except the sound of his quick breathing since his heart was fluttering in his chest, beating hard against his ribs.

An odd feeling of triumph soared through her, followed by a sudden ruthlessness. Where these emotions had come from, she could only guess at, but as quickly as they had come, they disappeared with all other emotions, and the mind-wall disappeared with them.

Normal again. It felt good, though she was still thirsty...at the rate she was going, he'd be unconscious by the time she finished.

Not that she really cared.

||OoC:: Short post...sorry. I'm wishing I were asleep right now. *yawn* Don't think I'm gonna fix this one, though...||

llOOC: Tis okay, and I hope you get some rest, don't want you to wear yourself out.ll

Damian's eyelids fluttered a bit, feeling as if he had been beaten with a blunt object. He only let out a small moan, feeling his body starting to slump to the right. The wanted to pull himself closer, wanting her to drink more but his body told him to push her away, try run and escape, but he sat there enjoying the false feeling of bliss.

Well. She wasn't thirsty anymore. That was good. It meant she wouldn't go overboard. Withdrawing from Damien, she caught him as he slumped to the side, supporting him as the effects of her overfeeding a little began to reach him. Covering the wound, she carried him to a cabinet at the side of the room, then retrieved another bandage and placed it over where she had bitten. Unceremoniously dumping him on the bed, she went over to her cupboard and began rummaging through it, searching for something that was nearly impossible to find these days- her stash of chocolate. Locating it at the back, she snapped off a piece and replaced the bar. Setting herself down on the bed by Damien, she wordlessly offered him a bit.

Chocolate had enough carbs to help with the loss of blood and nutrients, and had chemicals in it that affected the brains pleasure centers, making coming down from the induced high like walking after running to "cool down". Popping a bit of it in her own mouth, Doro wondered vaguely when the others would get home.

||OoC:: Thanks. I'll probably go to bed early...||

The light of the blue moon . . . .

Damian took what he had been offered, not realizing what it was until it was in his mouth. His mind tried to figure out exctly what this was, but he was too fuzzy minded to recall. His tongue rolled it around in his mouth, savoring the flavor of it, but his feeling of bliss faded, his mind clearing just a bit. He glanced over to the girl, watching her silent until the chocolate in his mouth had dissolved completely. "What's your name?" He asked quitely, his eyes not leaving her face in hope that she would tell him..

Not bothering to sift through his emotions, she answered his question automatically. "Doro. No last name." They had never actually bothered to take a formal surname...why was that? Perhaps...pride in being different? But so many people had no last name, no place they had come from, that they weren't really unique. Perhaps Riordan just didn't feel like it. It was reason enough for her.

Noticing that her fingers had started tapping, she sighed. Her hands needed something to do...

Damn, she didn't keep a gun in here. It would have been nice to just take apart and put back together, increase her already formidable speed. Well, her hair wasn't bugging her anymore...so she pulled the hairtie out, letting her hair ripple down her back once more. wrapping it around her fingers, she absentmindedly fell into a rhythm of twisting and untwisting. Grabbing a lock of her cyan hair with her teeth, she lowly fed it into her fingers, watching as her hand twined string and hair in ever more convoluted arrangements. As her supply of hair ran out, she carefully untangled hair and tie, careful not to break the hair. It didn't matter, but her hair was her last physical defense between her and the eyes of the world. There was a reason she kept it so long.

"Doro? Hmm." Damian let his eyes shut, so tempted to sleep but he opened them once again. "It's unique." Many people had a name you heard before, like Michael, Jessica, Kyle, or some other common name like his own. He watched her play with the long silk strands of her brightly colored hair before he lost the feeling in his body, other than feeling as it he was being pulled down by gravity. He triedto keep himself from yawning, but it managed to escape him anyways.
