He was taught at a very young age to fight with his bare hands an his ancestral weapon, the machete. His clan was all but wiped out when a millitary explorartion vessel showed up on their shores. After killing and enslaving most of Tai's people, he was forced to flee to the mainland. He was taken in by SSgt. John McArgo (Army).
