I would say, anything by Piers Anthony. For the more fun-loving, or should I say pun-loving, read the Xanth series, a trilogy of 27 books and counting. For a really good mix of Sci-fi and Fantasy, read the Apprentice Adept series. I'll edit this if I can think of any more good ones.

I think nodoby mentioned Terry Pratchett and his Discworld series. I highly recommend those if you like British humour wink

I work at Borders and I LOVE reading. If you want some good fantasy books I would suggest:

-All Tamora Pierce books!!!!!!! LoL I love her books especially the Song of the Lioness series, Alanna is my favorite character ever!
-The Dragonlance Chronicles, Dragonlance Legends, Second Generation, Dragons of Summer Flame, and War of the Lost Souls all by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
-Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkein
-Harry Potter Series

For classical Sci-fi reading I really recommend Farenhiet 451, or any of Ray Bradbury's writing for that matter he writes a lot about the future and puts a really awesome twist on but I won't tell what xd Also the Bar Code Tattoe Series Another good classic is War of the Worlds
