I hear ya! It's so tough to decide on just one. Simon's theme is great, no doubt about it. I prefer Super CV 4's version a bit better than the DoS version. 3nodding

That's very true. But then again, it has been remade so many times, and the DoS version is a lot more...well less midi than the old ones. I think it ruins it.

(I'm trying to learn Bloody Tears on the piano at the moment, but I get past the intro and get owned ) crying

Actually, "Simon's Theme" appears in PoR, not DoS.

Oh...which one am I thinking about then? I mean the one in the Abandoned Village.

For Soma, it's "Pitch Black Intrusion" (entirely new) and for Julius it's "Beginning" (not entirely new). I think you mean "Beginning". From what I remember, it's from CvIII.

That's cool Alderix. Best of luck playing that one. Will you be posting a video on youtube once you get it right?

Thanks SoraMee! I sometimes get my games mixed up. mrgreen

I hope this would be an appropriate topic to pose the question in, but...
Does anyone know where to get Castlevania sheet music, namely for Curse of Darkness and/or Harmony of Dissonance? Much appreciated if anyone knows! smile

Yes, that is the one I mean. But the same theory still applies, I find that the newer version is just not as good as the old one...in classic-ness anyways.

If I can get it right, of course. But speaking of which, Oregano mentioned an interesting topic. Does anyone know where to find Cv sheet music. I love the track 'Narcissistic Reflection' on CoD, but - well - I daresay I am having some trouble learning by ear.

Hey Oregano! I find it best sometimes to just conduct searches. Take this one for example! It seems as thought there are some good sites on that search but, some of the ones I opened have their sheet music inside Zip files. 3nodding

I have to agree with you Alderix. If only the folks at Konami could just stick to doing new versions of old classics but, without adding weird new accords or whatever to the new versions. Why can't they just release a new version with improved sound only? I like the classic tunes but, I'd much rather like to hear them in actual instruments. Doesn't anyone agree? neutral

Since most of the tunes in Castlevania games are very complex it'd do them great justice to record them with a full symphony or band. I noticed the more recent games have went a little over the top with the intensity of style and left me drained and lethargic. In my opinion, SotN captured the mood perfectly with a distant yet full sound of classical and modern instruments. Aside from the older games which were forced into midis, how do you feel about it? (Across the board)

Actually, if you're really interested in hearing what a good portion of Castlevania music would sound like with a full orchestra, I highly recommend tracking down an arrange album called "Dracula New Classic", where many of the signature songs are given just such a treatment.... and in a fantastic way, I might add.

I agree with Mathian! SotN certainly had great music that felt like it was more than just a midi tune. If the classic tunes could be released in the same style, they would be awesome to listen to. 3nodding

Huh? "Dracula New Classic". Is that found in stores or what?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 07, 2008 3:16 pm
I imagine it's floating around in some stores in Japan somewhere, along with the other arrange albums and OSTs. A friend copied his for me, which is how I got to listen to the album... but the Castlevania Dungeon has a brief page about it:

No wonder... I barely visit music stores at all these days! rolleyes

I'll take a look at that link later, thanks Elliot!

I third that on the SOTN idea. Yes, the music from that sounded so much more....

I'm really hoping to see some of the classic tunes that still haven't been redone, in the new Order of Ecclesia. Did you know that the mag known as Club Nintendo finally included some info on it's section called "Extra"? It's too bad they didn't mention much about it though... I was hoping to read more about what kind of music it would include or something. Oh well, maybe in a month or so... mrgreen
