Dorm 806 Professor Otashi's Dorm

"We have. The school nurse here, flown back to Twilight Town, all of it." Kiru said, tilting his head at a new name. "Yogtz?"

"Who's that?" Lerana asked, interested in whoever they were speaking about. "Is he a doctor?"

"Yog." Yuki said.

Eric put his finger up. "Yogtz is our moogle friend from our days back in Radiant garden. He worked more in surgery during our days with the cleanup committee, but he's a very good doctor nonetheless. He sort of worked here for a while, but it was never really official and he only patched up the few people who managed to get to the infirmary during the invasion. Really nice guy if you don't ruffle his pom pom," he said.

Lawrence nodded. "He taught us everything we know about not dying. Also gummi ships. He was basically my boss during my time with the committee. I trust him more than anyone on that world when it comes to healing people," he said

"So he can help?" Lerana asked in a hopeful tone. "Wonderful!" She then reached to Lawrenced and hugged him tightly. "Oh, thank you so much for doing this."

"We still don't know if she can be cured." Kiru told his wife, still frowning.

Eric looked at Kiru. "Ok, let me just address the elephant in the room here; why the sudden pessimism? I remember you being a happy guy when you first moved in here. What happened man?" he asked. Lawrence stood up.
"Before the inevitable powder keg explosion, i would just like to say that I for one believe that I can be just as effective given time," Lawrence said standing up. He walked toward the bathroom. "I shall wash my hands and then be on my way. Thank you for a wonderful meal and I hope my friend's actions don't mar our current relationship," he said.

Eric looked confused. What the hell Lawrence? Why are you throwing me under the gummi now? he thought.

"Things happen." Kiru replied to Eric. "What I was before and what I am now are still the same." His tone raised, though he remained sitting back.

"He may be right, honey." Lerana replied before Kiru looked at her.

"He couldn't possibly know how I feel. The stress I deal with knowing that my two children are here, at the academy, where one small raid can mean-" Kiru began before noticing Yuki follow Lawrence.

Lerana began arguing with her husband in front of Eric. "You know that I can fight, Kiru! You trained me yourself! Whatever bursts through that door-"

Kiru now stood up, towering over his wife. "Whatever comes through that door, you won't be able to hit. I've fought these things before! You can't just smack them with a broom and hope they run away." He looked towards Eric. "You've fought them, yes? Heartless, Nobodies, Dusks, anything. They don't stop until they're dead, or you are!"

Lerana seemed to be holding something back, but remaining calm. "Then why are we here? We can go other places. You said we were safe."

"That-" "You said that we would't be attacked by those things again." "Honey."

"Why doyou keep lying, dammit! You're always away for most of the day until it's time for bed, een though classes aren't in session. You never play with Yuki like you used too." Lerana screamed at Kiru.

The man let his guard down before sitting down on the couch, hiding his face. "Because I never wanted to come here. I only knew that this was the best place for us to raise Yuki. Safe from everything." He didn't look up for a reaction. "I...I can't adjust like you can. Everything in this academy. It brings back memories. Memories I don't want you or anyone to know about." Kiru sighed, swallowing his pride and explaining. "To be alive as long as I have. Too see every person I've ever loved either die from heartless or from old age. Do you have any idea of the pain I felt holding my daughter's hand, watching as she took her final breathes of life, while I was as young as the day she was born?"

"What are you talking about?" Lerana asked, her tone softening as she noticed Kiru looking quite upset, still upset, but not as much. She stroked his back to try and calm him. "Namine is still alive."

"My first one, before our marriage. It was a couple of generations or so." Kiru shrugged, still slumped over. "When you've been alive almost as long as the headmaster of this academy can remember, you begin to forget about the date and time." He extended his hand as an ancient looking keyblade appeared in it, looking very much like a lance. "I am one of the keyblades knight. Not like the top 3, but close. Our power comes nowhere near theirs'. But we had gained their longevity. Many of my children were wielders. I began to see how it might give us an advantage, but I was wrong."

He looked at Eric again. "Namine's told you why she ran away that day? She said she wanted to be like me. Strong to stand up to the kids bullying her. I couldn't take it anymore and snapped. Told her that she didn't want to be like me." He seemed almost to the point of breaking down, his scowl softening into a furrowed brow. "She ran away because of me. Every night after she had done so, I couldn't sleep. Every dream would be the same conversation. I could say something different each time, but she would still run away."

(i didn't have time to read it this morning, but phew. that there's some writing.)

Eric placed his spoon down and slammed his hands on the table while standing up. "I'm not going to pretend that i know the stresses of marriage and children, but I know that nobody wants those precious to him to die or worse, not be able to handle themselves. My mother is just as capable a fighter as my father and they will protect me and all that is precious to them until their..." he shuddered at the thought of his parents having their last breath in front of him. "Until they can no longer fight," he looked to Lerana. "This is going to get ugly, but you are more than capable of handling yourself here," he looked back to Kiru. "I've seen my share of disgusting, horrifying crap, and i've done the same thing you are doing now. Shut down emotionally and alienate my family and friends. Let me tell you something Kiru," he said scowling. "it. doesn't. work,"

Lawrence cracked open the door to the bathroom and saw Yuki was nearby. After the initial shock of discovering someone had followed him to the bathroom, he quietly opened the door and beckoned him inside. "This place is a lot safer than what might happen out there. Get in," he whispered.

(( Really? It's only like 300 words. Most I've ever wrote on Gaia is like 4,325 words ))

Kiru sighed, leaning backwards and refusing to look at anyone.

Lerana smiled at Eric, now looking towards a silent Kiru.

"So what do I do then? Just forget everything I've been through? Forget everything up until this point?"

Yuki followed Lawrence into the bathroom and sat on the toilet lid. "Law."

Eric shook his head. "Not at all. You need to find a more constructive way of dealing with these things," he said.

Lawrence shut the door. "That bloody fool is using half the lines i used on him when he did this," he sighed. He looked at Yuki. "So kid, is this a common thing or did my friend just set off a chain reaction by running his mouth again?" he asked quietly.

Kiru huffed, crossing his arms. "Like how?"

Yuki nodded at Lawrence before smiling up at him. "Da es sa, Law."

Eric put a hand to his chin. "I would suggest training as i did for a year or so, but now that you've admitted that your basically immortal so that doesn't really matter. I have a feeling we aren't quite the same when it comes to this. just similar," he said tapping his temples.

Lawrence blinked a few times. Crap, even if he is taller, he's still young. He's probably only started speaking recently. Think Lawrence. Think damn you! he thought. He snapped his fingers in an attempt to get an idea on how to communicate with this child. I was never really good with children,

Yuki watched as Lawrence snapped his fingers, mocking what he did in return. "Es Law sa?"

"thank you for helping anyway, Eric." Lerana said after a lengthy bit of silence,

Lawrence stopped snapping. hmm, I may be on to something here, he thought. He heard the arguing had ceased outside. "Looks like it's safe to go out now. Come out a few seconds after I do. If things end up getting hairy again i want you to be able to hide here quickly," he said slowly opening the door.

Eric sighed. "great, I've done essentially nothing but anger a family friend with my time here," he realized what he said. "Oh crap, did i say that out loud? My sincerest apologies Lerana," he said bowing his head.

Yuki nodded to Lawrence and stepped out in front of him.

Namine was on her way to the bathroom before stumbling into Lawrence and her brother. She waved once before keeping her distance.

Lawrence waved to namine. "Don't worry, I rarely get sick," he said reassuringly as he stepped out of Namine's way.

Namine nodded and then just stayed where she was. "I missed you." She said in a very soft tone, coughing into her hands.
