Here Ye, Here Ye - Thee Laws of Ye Land

This group is primarily for those of Traditional Craft where it be of the British Isles, The Irish homeland, or the Mountains of Appalachia among others. Welcome are those who strive to preserve the "Old Ways" of their people- even if they would be far from home here.

I. This group serves the mysteries first and foremost. Those who bicker hardly have time to seek the mysteries.

II. Do not covet thy neighbors praxis. Cultural Appropriation will not be tolerated. Being inspired by and learning from other cultures is fine, and we are the summation of all our experiences. There is nothing wrong with being eclectic but if you do not know the roots of a practice you will abuse it.

III. While we strive for a non-baneful atmosphere this group is not limited to discussing only the more comforting side of nature and praxis. Topics may include but are not limited to: blood magick, the use of remains and means of protection, whatever the means. Not everyone here recognizes the three-fold law, and if they do they probably don't have a black and white division of what is good or bad. We can't ask that people agree with our ethics, only that they are true to their sense of ethics.

And the problems many traditionalists often have with any notion of retribution is a) there are always consequences for any action regardless of it being good or bad, but the moment you make assumptions that the universe agrees to your sense of morals moment you start to expect others to live by those morals. To some this is merely a matter of cause and effect and they have no place in their worldview for moral absolutes and/or a karmic judge. Either way, I think we can all agree not to pee in the swimming pool. And b) Ever wonder why 3 times what you send out? There is a reason for that number but if your unsure why it is, you might want to consider moreso, the long term affects of any action.

IV. I'm sure I forgot something,

May these rules be ever Five.

(The following is for Wiccans, if you don't consider yourself one you may ignore it)

Being the kind of group this is, when one mentions wicca they are probably talking about Traditional Wicca of some form or another.
Now it would be great if we could keep this simple.
there's Wicca and then there's Wica and while it's true proper spelling was unheard of there is a difference.

Wicca is a term that predates Gardner, means witch, and I see no reason why a witch can't adopt it if they so chose (but a a point on that in a moment.)

Wica is an egregore, maintained by praxis and requires initiation to access. It is named after the archetype of a Wicca, a witch in that it would become an oracle in that image. The Gematria (37) was carefully chosen, that is why it only has one C. note: those of his coven did not call themselves Wiccans, but Witches. "The Wica" was the Coven egregore or group mind that bound them. It's not a hard concept really, it's like the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. It contains the collected wisdom of their line. Many esoteric orders have such an egregore. It was a magickal means of pulling everones witchyness together and hoping that it they all died, the egregore would haunt the s**t out of somebody and what they knew wouldn't be lost... well.... something like that.

As long as nobody is claiming to be something they aren't I wouldn't worry about it... but while the term Wiccan is pre-gardner didn't refer to any specific tradition consider this:

a) Sorcery was implied, and by that I mean a complex form of conjure whereby you pit higher forces over lower ones
b) It was Sabbatical (granted Sabbatical craft has change allot )
c) Working in a liminal fashion, between light and dark, conscious and subconscious, sun and moon, masculine and feminine. as well as between the mystical and carnal. It is a crooked, alternating path as lightning and you might be surprised to find here it isn't what you thought it was.
Of the word witch had these inferences as well so...

We can only ask that you consider whether this actually describes your path or not. Often people eventually leave the kind of Wicca they find in bookstores to something more suited to them, perhaps something ancestral. As it should be. Others look deeper into Wicca instead, or aswell, and that is a rewarding path all the same. Still others may not find anything specific and stay with a outer-court archtypal template of Wicca. Can we really blame them for seeking the same kinds of relationships we have found so fruitful. Maybe some day they will have a gift to give the egregore.

I ask the traditionalists here that you give them a chance and guide them as you know how without breaking oath. I ask non-traditionalists to at least hear out what traditionalists have to say.
