Hello there visitor, and welcome to Dragon Kyns. Here at the Kyns Shop you will find majestic breedable dragons of all origins and appearances, including Japanese Kyn, European Kyn, Lunar Kyn, Gargoyle Kyn, and even mixed breed Kyn. Owners may even choose to purchase accessories, including magic tomes, for their Kyns. Please scroll down for more information on how you can obtain your own Dragon Kyn, as well as additional information on how to care for your kyn and other rules and regulations of the shop. 06-29-09: The flatsale was a success! Colorists have already started working on the eggs for the July flatsale, too, and we have another colorist who can do mixed breedings now. Catch-up is coming along slowly, but it is happening.

06-22-09: June flatsale is coming up soon, hopefully Friday or Saturday night! Growths are happening, and we still have some taggings to get out there, too. Looking to the future, we have RP, the Corrupt plotline, a rehoming event, and the introduction of two new familiars!
05-03-09: Still working on catching up on things that haven't been finished. Some of the colorists are opening breedings to help you guys keep interest while I work on other things. Elder event RPs are underway in the Guild, two new familiars are going to be released soon, and many other things are happening behind the scenes.

11-18-08: Just about all the Pokemon Event Kyn are tagged, we've got the Corrupt lines shaded, the Elder Lunar lines complete and shaded, and we've already started working on some Winter Events! Stay tuned!
08-04-08: The July flatsale went very well, and we're in the process of taking care of all the tags. August looks like it's at least going to see the beginning of the Big Event, so stay tuned for the opening of the Event thread!
07-28-08: July flatsale will take place this week on Wednesday in the evening by Eastern time. Also, the Pokemon Event is in the works in earnest now! This does mean that there will not be a normal flatsale in August, however.
06-06-08: Kyns from the flatsale are almost all tagged and out, and we're looking with interest to what lies ahead for the Kyns! July and August are going to be busy months for shop, we hope, with closure to the Moon Event, the beginning of the Black Island arc (plus a new species!), and plenty of opportunities to get Kyn!
05-19-08: School's end means a new start to activity in the shop! We look forward to making your summer as Kyn-filled as possible! But first, it's about time to finish up on those loose ends we started...
02-03-08: February looks like it's bringing around a different type of event instead of Valentine's Day. We're going to celebrate the Chinese New Year through the month of February this year!
01-06-08: All SS packages are open, and all ButterKyn are tagged and sent off to their parents from the RP Event. Looks like we're starting to catch-up! We're also holding our Staff Search!
12-26-07: There's a lot underway at the moment, and there are lots of Secret Santa packages opening!
12-06-07: Secret Santa is finally open!
11-28-07: Shh! There's Secret Santa coming!
09-22-07: We're still a little bit behind on things, but at least by now it's new things that we're behind with. There's an event in the guild that's already starting to kick into high gear, to boot!
07-01-07: The Lunar Fest went great, but we're still wrapping up some ends there and trying to get through breedings!
05-24-07: Flatsale was finished and all of them are now tagged. I'm still working hard on breedings, and we're looking merrily at the upcoming Lunar Festival next month!
04-24-07: Some basic shop maintenance was handled, though there's a lot more to take care of! Growths occured a few days ago, and there are lots fo changes ahead!
02-11-07: The flatsale went amazingly quick for the Valentine's Day theme! Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to everyone who showed interest!
01-27-07: The Gwee acution ends today, and the Valentine's event is entirely set-up. There are free breeding competitions, special amulets for sale, and even some strange plants!
01-07-07: The Gwee Auction is open for bids. Waarufu also wants everyone to know that she will be gone on vacation from Tuesday the 9th through Friday the 12th. She may have internet access during that time to check up on things occasionally, but might not have the time. She will be taking her laptop with her to work on customs and breedings if she has the time.
01-04-07: Waarufu got all the kyn models up for the items.
12-25-06: Kahyou will be going on a trip to visit relatives starting the 26th-30th. So all Christmas themed kyn namings will be delayed until then, when she gets back. Happy Holidays everyone!
11-22-06: With December close by and christmas on it's way, the thread will be having another Secret Santa event this year(only much more orderly and the kyns actually look good unlike last years batch. n.n ).

11-06-06: An auction for three Princess Mononoke cosplay kyns has officially begun. The auction ends on November 25th, so if you don't have the gold now, you can start saving up. You can visit the auction thread here: Princess Mononoke Auction Thread
11-05-06: The Halloween Flatsale is well on its way, and the raffle has reached a conclusion with its winners. The owner's list is also being updated.
10-16-06: The country kyn flatsale for the event thread has been concluded, and a Halloween themed flatsale along with free raffles are planned. The two last dog breed raffles are in effect for the Festival Thread, and will conclude the Festival this Thursday.
10-04-06: There have been lots of little updates around the thread, and a lot of general clean-up of things. Customs were opened and promptly filled as well. ^.^
8-17-06: The kyn festival is well on its way, and there have been a lot of taggings and growths recently. The item section is undergoing renovations, and we're sad to see Kahyou leaving us again. Waarufu wants everyone to take note of her period of absence while she moves into college.
7-22-06: Owner's list has been updated. There is an RP contest in the future for eggs in the guild.
6-03-06: Waarufu will be gone from today, Saturday the 3rd until Wednesday the 7th.
5-25-06: Kahyou will be gone from May 27th until June 4th. So any growings or kyns under her care won't be growing until she gets back.
5-13-06: There is a free raffle currently being held until the 20th. Go and enter, cuz it's freeeeeee. x3 The prize is a second generation japanese koi. This raffle is thanks to Nicky McCloud and Xennik Droid. Raffle Thread
5-4-06: Lots of things being planned now that summer has come!(For some of us at least) So I felt, since it's been over a year since the shop's openning(We officially began on 4-14-05!), that it's time for some serious redecorating. So over the next week or two, some of the shop banners and posts may change in either a big or insignifigant way! x3 ~Kahyou
Flatsale Event! - 4-26-06: A flatsale will be held on this Saturday at 3PM Eastern Time. All of the eggs in the sale will be nothing but gargoyles, In celebration of the breed's new release.
4-25-06: New! Gargoyle kyns have finally made their way into the shop. The next flatsale(date not yet set) will definitely have some of these new arrivals. Until then, gargoyles are only available through customs.
04-22-06: The Kyn Event has finally been judged! Winners are posted in that thread on page 9. Kahyou is still working on finishing the gargoyles in time for a spring sale of sorts.
03-02-06: Waarufu is still adding more items, and Kahyou has put up familiar customs! Both are slowly working through customs and/or breedings and the kyn tournment's first rounds are wrapping up.
02-27-06: Waarufu is adding new items while Kahyou works on the familiars and the new breed of kyn.
01-21-06: Waarufu PMed everyone on the Mailing List with the new thread link and the guild link. Everyone on the owner's list with broken linnked kyn have been PMed, and it has been updated accordingly. We are still missing kyn owners' responses, however, and two of the owner's of kyn showed up as no longer existing. The thread is now fully operational, save for the affiliates section.
01-31-06: Waarufu updated the kyn owner's list some more. We are still missing a TON of secret santa kyns' new addresses.

Second Kyn Thread Announcements

10/16/05 - I'm randomly growing the FS Kyns xD. Refresh to see if yours is grown yet, if it's not, it will be soon =3
10/6/05 - FS ended today. Growings/breeding slots/customs will open soon, most likely on the weekend
10/1/05 - A flatsale is scheduled for later today, at noon PST actually.
9/21/05 - Due to personal issues, Kahyou has decided to gift the Kyn shop to another person (me xD). The transfer has goon pretty smooth and I'm currently setting up the new shop. I'm relatively new to shop owning, so please be patient with me. And also, my skills are not nearly as good as Kahyous and I'll try to improve. Now... enough ranting about me...

The shop will stay pretty much the same in terms of layout and such. Sale prices will not be changed, but I -might- make a new cert. Some events will be happening in the near future. In most likely choronological order: FS > breeding spot open > Custom Openings > Event of some sort? Nothing is set in stone yets... so stayed tuned ^^

First Kyn Thread Announcements

9/19 - A new owner has been found(Torpid Panda) and so I'm no longer making anymore kyns. All adults have been deleted from my image host, so if you still haven't saved your adult kyn, PM me and I will re-upload it for you to save. Once the new shop is up, I'll put a link to it from here. :3

Now that that's all done, I will now start work on my new shop soon. ^^ Although with how long it's taken me to do the complete stage of one pet, and seeing how many pets I plan on having, it may take well up to a month and beyond just to get everything finished for setup. ;>>

9/11 - For some reason, kyns are getting stressful for me. Aside from my vision getting worse from staring at pixels all day long, it feels sorta like the fun has drained out of it. More like work than something I enjoy, which doesn't get anything done. xP I've decided not to end the kyns, but instead find someone who loves pixel work more than I and may love the idea of taking over the kyn's market even more. xD It'll get you guys more kyns, and allow me to...well...feel good knowing that you guys are happy someone's making kyns instead of just having nothing at all. ^^; Some(or many) may disagree but I've made up my mind and feel that this is best. You guys convinced me the first time to continue with the kyns but it wasn't really what I wanted so my heart wasn't into it.
Just so ya'll know, I will try my hand at a new, non-pixel, growing pet. Yes, it is one reason I'm leaving the kyns but not the main reason. I origionally made the kyns as a substitute of earning gold while I attempted to get a new photoshop program for non-pixelated pets. Never had I thought the kyns would be so popular and also never did I intend for them to go on for as long as they did(I suspected they would have lasted a week before everyone got bored). My artistic love, I guess you could say, is with photoshop. I do enjoy paint but it's nothing more than a past-time for me that I outgrew long ago. I am a growing artist and I want to take my art to the limit and even to a higher, more respected scale. So anyways, the kyns will be on pause while I find someone to take over and thus do a better job than perhaps I ever did. ^^

9/10 - Ack!! Forgive me!! ;-; I disappear for what...3 week with no word? Taking time to settle into college life, summer days of leizure are over...Kyns will not die!!!! They're just very, very, very, very...very...slow due to my college life. Although today I'm gonna devote myself to kyn updating and...stuff. Trades and customs and I'll take a few customs as well as breedings and quite possibly plan a flatsale. A normal one. xD Haven't had one of those in a long time. icon_razz.gif
8/14 - Kyn growings, whoot.
I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to be on much any more. College has come up now and I'll be putting more time into studying instead of internet fun. Slots for customs and breeding won't be open for awhile, sorry about that, I've just been really busy, plus a bit stressed. ;>> So, have fun and I'll try to be on as much as I can. ^^;
8/8 - After a long week and a short trip up to the longest garage sale(got dragged along and had nothing better to do anyways) my connection is fine again!!! icon_biggrin.gif So guess what? Yes! Growings!! Many hatching babies. x3 Although since it took so long for some of the kyns to hatch, I'll just go along with their normal growing pattern I had them scheduled for. ;>> Which means some of those babies are gonna be adults a few days from now. If anyone wants their kyn to stay a baby longer, just PM me. x3 No payment necessary.(This is only available for the special ocean kyns.)
Also, when your kyn grows into an adult, please DO NOT post the new image on the boards, PM me with the link to your image host. I used to PM everyone personally and tell them to PM me back with the link when I notified them their kyn had grown, but I don't do that anymore due to my short term memory and some people's mail would be flooded with, Adult Kyn, while some people didn't get any notification. ;>> So please, PM me the new link and do not post it on the topic because it gets lost and I end up not even noticing it.
8/3 - My computer's been having trouble staying connected lately and around Monday it completely cut off my connection while I was growing kyns. -.- Since my computer, for the time being, absolutely refuses to connect to the internet I have to postpone growings since I can't update the kyns at all. *rappidly clicks on internet button* Nuuuuuuuuuuu!!!! ;-; btw, I'm on another computer typing this, so no, everything has not been solved. ><
Just wanted you guys to know so ya'll don't go rioting or anything... ;>> *runs from angry mob of kyn owners holding pitch forks and torches*
7/25 -Flatsale Event Yeay, after much absentness, I'm gonna make it all up to you guys by having a special flatsale. Since summer is nearing it's closing point for most of you out there, the theme will be ocean kyns. :3 Summer beach ocean related stuff...Sandy kyn, tiger shark, stuff like that. This flatsale will take place on Friday the 29th at 2 P.M. Central time. Be there or be...a wet beach towel. x3

Oh yes, also, the european kyns have been changed. Their eggs no longer display the color of the kyn within. They will simply be a silverish-white color from now on. For flatsales the color of the kyn will be below the egg kyn as usual.
7/17 -Many growings!! icon_biggrin.gif Haven't been on much to do anything lately due to storms and life events. I have no flatsales planned since I'm still working on finishing other art as well as a custom and I need to make the flatsale kyns first...
I'm also majorly stressing due to the fact that I need to find a job, college is on the horison, I don't have a car, and I've been gorging on snacks lately. o_o; Needless to say I'll still attempt to keep up with kyn growth and such(I'm also giving up on all hope of ever even opening another shop, since I can barely run this one. -.-; ) despite all other odds. Peace! xD
7/1 -Flatsale Event Flatsale for wild cat themed kyns on Sunday at 2p.m. Central Time. ^^

5/14 -Important Due to the roll back, everyone who participated in the raffle will have to resend their money. The amount of tickets you bought are still up, so just add two zeros to the end and send the trade.
Please be honest and re-send the trades or else I won't trust ya'll enough to do another raffle again. Plus I was counting on most of that gold to start a Kyns Guild...
5/8 -Updated half the shop. xD Breeding now costs 3k if you own one kyn, 2k if you own both kyn.
That auction I was planning on having this month has been changed to a Raffle. ^^ The prize will be a rare Lightning Elemental Kyn. :3 This kyn is born with the knowledge of Thunder spells and at the age of adult will be able to give herself wings of pure electricity, something that isn't available as a custom. She's black as the storm clouds and has markings of yellow lightning all over her body.
5/3 - Updating the shop...It's messy. xD
5/1 - I don't think it's anything to really worry about, but I recently checked out the status on my photobucket account and saw that 19,700 of 30,000 hits has been used up for the month. Bandwidth is a confusing thing for some people, but to put it in simple terms, if that number reaches 30,000 all the kyns show up as red x's till the new month. o_o; I never expected the kyns to be so popular, so I didn't think the issue would ever present itself...
So to prevent everyone's kyns from going poof! I'll prolly have to make it where everyone hosts the adults on their own server. ^^ Adding any items would be simple, just pick up the new pic in the Pet Pickup. So...if the kyns do suddenly turn into x's(goodness forbid...) DONT PANIC!!!!
4/29 - I've lowered the price of spellbooks to 100g, since I thought about it and realised 200 would be a bit steep for those just looking to rp some spells. 0_o Also, since the spellbook is so big, gems of the same color/design of the book will be put in the items box of the kyn's area, an item more appeasing to the eye than a clunky old spellbook.
4/27 - Spellbooks have been added to the item shop. They're mostly for roleplay but non-rpers can buy them for show if they want. If you're going to rp, be sure to read the instuctions and rules.
4/24 - Flatsale EventA flat sale of nine kyns will begin Tuesday, 4/26 at 5 P.M. gaia time, to help give the specie's population a big boost. Four of those kyns will be rare, special breeds of European and Japanese Pearl kyns that will not be available in the future.
Auction EventI'm planning the shop's first auction, a rare European Lightning Storm Kyn, for sometime next month. Not that I count on people bidding very high, but just in case, save up your gold if you want the chance of owning this rare, one of a kind breed. ^^

-Once your kyn has grown into an adult, you must host the image on your own image host and PM me with the new link. If you don't have one, you can easily get one for free at photobucket.com

-Do not Steal!! Anyone caught with a dragon that does not belong to them will be added to the black list and reported to the mods.

-No copying or editing the kyns, or claiming them as something you have drawn! You will be instantly reported to the mods for art theft and added to the blacklist.

-Kyns are only allowed to be used in signatures on Gaia, journal, or pet pages on your personal website. If you plan to put your kyn(s) on something other than something gaia related, I'd appreciate it if you PMed me with a link for approval.

-Do not flame, argue with, or harrass players who managed to beat you to a flatsale, or bid higher than you in an auction.

-If you don't have the money for an egg, don't bid/try to buy one. I do not put eggs on hold for those who don't have the correct amount of gold at the time. This also goes for offering less money than a kyn costs; don't do it.

-Roleplaying is not required to own a kyn.

-No arguing with the owner! What ever I say goes. If you disagree with something I have done or said, please calmly PM me and we can discuss it in a mature fashion.

-If you are confused about something, or have a question, don't hesitate to ask in the thread.

-Do not advertize/post links to other shops. It's rude and annoying.

-Do not post or PM requesting to have a job position for yourself or anyone else. If I am accepting anyone for anything, I will say if so.

-Do not harass, flame, argue with, spam, etc. anyone on the thread or the thread for any reason. If there is an issue, contact that player through PM and calmly discuss it or PM me and ask for a resolution. Kyn Breeds

Eggs will hatch in 2-5 days.
Hatchlings and Fledgelings take around 7-16 days to grow
Females are displayed in red, males in blue. Stages that are shared between them are in purple

European Kyns

European kyns have four stages: egg - hatchling - fledgeling - adult.

European Kyns were the first species discovered, and perhaps will always remain among the most popular. They can easily adapt to almost any environment, and have quickly found homes from the mountains, the island's shores, the dense forests, and out in the deserts. These Kyn, however, are perhaps best known for their keen eyesight that can hone in on a book's font on the ground while they're airborne.

Japanese Kyns

Japanese kyns have three stages: egg - hatchling - adult.

Japanese Kyns are known to grow to sizes far beyond that of other kyns. Although they have no wings, Japanese Kyns can use their own magical abilities to mimic flight via an interesting floating technique. Because of their long bodies, short legs, and lack of wings, Japanese Kyns are excellent at aerobatics, and some males use the most exquisite air dances to impress potential mates.

Lunar Kyns

Lunar kyns have three stages: egg - pup - adult.

Lunars are currently the smallest species of Kyn, and the only species without the natural ability of flight. Unlike all other Kyns, Lunars are covered in medium-length, thick fur for protection against heat loss. This makes them comfortable in most types of climates, extreme heat excluded, despite their tome knowledge. Lunars are also known for their speed on the ground and high loyalty to their family.

Gargoyle Kyns

Gargoyle kyns have three stages: egg - hatchling - adult.

Bulkier than even the Europeans, Gargoyle Kyns were once looked at as hulking Kyns with little intelligence. This is a sad misnomer, as Gargoyle kyns, like all their cousins, are highly intelligent if a little physically slower in flight. Out of the scaled Kyn species, Gargoyles can naturally tolerate the coldest temperatures due to their extremely thick hide.

Mixed/Half Breeds

Stages of a mixed/half breed depends upon the parent it most takes after, and even then mixing the same species may turn up something entirely different every time.

With a mixed breed Kyn, you never know what the hatchling will look like until it breaks shell. Because of this, the growth image is a sample of some of the types of mixed breeds that have been born to this day.

Flatsales are by far the most common way to receive a Kyn. They are first-come-first-serve. I try to hold them on the weekends mostly.

Previews:

1. European male
2. European female
3. Japanese male
4. Japanese female [Royal Fireworks] (staff colored)
5. Lunar male (staff colored)
6. Lunar female
7. Gargoyle male
8. Gargoyle female

Flatsale Rules:
-Eggs are 3,000g each.
-Do not post until I say go.
-Post the number of the egg that you want.
-Each person is allowed to purchase 1 egg per flatsale.
-A person can purchase an egg for a friend, but this is counted as their one egg per the flatsale
-A person may not purchase an egg for themself and have someone else purchase one for them; the first egg bought is the one they will receive
-Payment must be received within twenty-four hours. Trade will not be confirmed until egg is certed, but will not be available until the trade is completed.
-Trade must be titled with the egg number, name of kyn, cert type, and cert color (if applicable).

Custom forms must be sent through PM, followed by the payment to Kyn_Caretaker. Please be as descriptive as you can when requesting a custom. Also note that no cosplays are allowed in custom form anymore. Cosplays are only obtainable through raffles, auctions, and special events.

Kyn Certs
No matter whether you're purchasing an egg from a flatsale, getting a new baby from breeding, or requesting for a unique design that's all your own, you have to choose a cert. I have an older cert, can I get a new one?
Absolutely. Switching from one of the old purple certs that Torpid Panda or Kahyou designed to any of the newer ones is free of charge. Just be sure to PM your request, and include a link to the Kyn you want changed.

I want a different cert than the one I originally chose
I'll do that as well, however I am going to request a 200 gold fee for doing so. It's not easy to entirely recert a Kyn, and it's not something that I want to be doing constantly.

There's something wrong with my cert
If your Kyn isn't an adult and your cert is gone, then please PM me. If your Kyn is an adult and the cert is gone, then it's because you didn't save them to your own server and were direct linking. If it's got to do with spelling, generation, or something along those lines - please PM me so I can fix it.

Dragons Bane
Cost: 250g
Dragons bane is an edible plant that can be eaten by any age dragon. The plant contains chemicals and such that stunts, or stops, a kyn's growth, keeping it at the current stage in its life.

Cow Milk
Cost: 250g
This milk helps stunted dragons grow, reversing the effects of dragons bane.

Dragons Milk
Cost: 500g
Sweetened dragons milk with extra protiens and tons of calcium, this milk can cause a dragon to grow to the next stage instantly. This, however, cannot be used on kyn eggs.

Spellbooks
In order for a kyn to use magic, they must first learn. Spellbooks contain the ancient knowledge used to learn to cast attacks or useful abilities to help a kyn in battle or normal life. Each magic is divided into an element, a spell draws energy from the chosen element in order to work it's magic. It results in an attack or power that looks in appearance similar to the element it draws power from.

Spells of each element are not limited to simple fire blasts or water spraying, kyns create their own spells with their own knowledge. The same attack by a different kyn may look similar, but in fact it is completely different and they may even identify it by another name.

-Learned spells show up as gems in the item box that match the Spellbook's cover.

Tattoos

Tattoos are an interesting and permanent way to alter your kyn. Stamp them with any design available, and create the color combination of your choosing. What makes these a little more unique is that they are blended into the skin of your kyn, meaning that the color will be altered from your original choosing slightly. To see an example of this, the European Male displayed is sporting the first of all three tattoo designs offered. When ordering, please be sure to describe the location where you want the tattoo to be placed, as well as a back-up in case the tattoo is too large for the exact area you want.

There are three-four variations for each design, all related to coloration. With tattoos, you can ask for any colors you want without extra charge. However, when the design asks for more than one color, then the price rises. You can request anything in relation to color for any tattoo, but the more colors you add, the more the price rises. Prices are listed in rising with the number of colors on a design, with a single color being the first price. Examples to the maximum number of colors are shown vertically below.

ButterKyn
These little ones, between the sizes of our modern ferrets and house cats, are very energetic and mischievious as juveniles. When they grow into adulthood, they tend to calm down and can be great aids to your Kyn. ButterKyns, as juveniles, have been known to cause great trouble in the Meadow of Life Corrupting eggs. That's why it's very important to get them to the mainland as eggs, before they cause trouble. That doesn't mean that they can't find enough things to get into around the mainland...

Familiars are all handled as customs. Custom forms must be sent through PM, followed by the payment to Kyn_Caretaker. Please be as descriptive as you can when requesting a custom.

Breeding Information

-Breeding costs 3,000g if two owners are invovled.
-Breeding costs 2,000g if both kyns are owned by one person.
-Kyns must be adults in order to breed.
-Kyns of the same gender cannot breed.
-Kyns do not inbreed, all the kyns from the shop are not related so there should be many choices for a kyn.
-Clutches range from 2 to 5 eggs. The owners may choose one egg each from the clutch while the shop takes the rest. The owners can pay 1,500g per each extra egg if they want them, otherwise they will be sold/raffled/auctioned off by the shop.
- If an owner buys an extra egg to give to someone else, when they PM to say they are giving the egg away (and send the trade), they must include the name of the person who the egg is going to and a name for the kyn. We will no longer accept PMs or posts from other people concerning someone's breeding. Please please please limit your PMs on breeding to one or two per person so that things do not get confused.
-If the two kyns are owned by different riders, then both must PM me with the ok, in order for the kyns to breed.(The pay can be split too, one owner pays 1,500 while the other pays the same. Gold will be refunded if one owner decides not to pay.)

Kyn RP Behavior

When females near that time of choosing a mate, many things can happen, depending on the kyn. Two interested males may fight, with the female watching from the sidelines. Other times a female may just play keep away with any single male interested, running or flying in order to test their future mate's strengths. The one to catch up to the female is the lucky contender. For others it may just be love at first sight.

Some kyns mate for life...others do it simply to satisfy the instinct needing to lay eggs and have hatchlings. It just depends on the kyn.

Hatchlings

When two kyns breed, the resulting hatchling is a mix between both mother and father.

Example: If a Japanese kyn were bred with a European kyn, the resulting hatchling may have the body of a Japanese kyn, with wings and a single pair of horns. Or a European body with a mane and no wings. The markings are also passed on to the hatchlings, either having markings similar to either the mother or the father, or having a mix of the two in any way.

A brief history

In many worlds the dragon is known as a creature of myth and legend, nothing but a simple fairy tale to facinate the attentive ears of listening children. But in this world they are no mere bedtime story... These dragonic creatures called Kyns, are a normal part of everyday life. They are trained, raised, and cared for by human owners who race them, fight them, or just show off their impressive beauty. Some may reffer to them simply as 'pets' but others more serious take their dragon's bond beyond that of a simple house dragon.

But Kyns were not always common knowledge, as on any other planet, long ago kyns were simply rumors and stories told to amaze the listeners. After a time as those few believers told and retold their wonderous stories, one single human believed so much in the legends that he went out himself in search of such wonderous creatures. Upon discovering and stumbling upon a near hatching kyn egg, this lone human had found the very same legend story tellers had talked of, and created a bond between kyn and human.

Many rushed to find such rare eggs to create their own special bond, and the species flourished with their human owners and became a greatly prized part of the world of man.

Roleplaying a Kyn

-A kyn's bond with their human is established at birth, making the kyn a lifetime partner to the human it first sees. They cannot be bought, sold, or traded for another kyn aafter birth due to this bond, one person can however own more than one kyn.

-Kyn are very intelligent, but at the same time they are simple minded. They can understand human speech and even speak the language.

-All kyns have the optional ability to breath fire.

-Kyns hunt any type of herding game, wild or those provided by it's rider/owner. Young kyns not too long out of the shell eat smaller game provided completely by older kyns or owners, until they can hunt on their own. Newborn kyns are completely dependant of their mother's milk or milk provided by owners, unable to have anything else.

A Kyn's Den

Any place that a kyn lives or sleeps is reffered to as it's den. Kyns like to sleep in cavern like areas, large enough to accommodate their size and well beyond for extra comfort. Preffered bedding is sand, smooth rocks/boulders, or the more expensive, gemstones.

Some owners build man-made caverns for their kyns if they cannot find a suitable den in a convenient location. Owners live very close to their kyns, some in fact sleep in the same den as their kyns, having a separate living room somewhere in the cavern so they can always be near their kyn. Others that own multiple kyns or over at least five kyns have a separate living building for humans, that is if they want.

A Kyn's Behavior and it's Rider

-A human who owns a kyn is reffered to as either it's rider, owner, or trainer.

-The bond between a human and kyn is strong. With this bond a kyn will always know where its rider is, and if they are in danger or not. Kyns are very protective of their riders, and think of themselves as the owners of their humans.

-New hatchlings tend to be jelous of kyns that thier trainer already owns, showing off and trying to push themselves to be better than their rider's first kyn. This jealousy dies down when the kyn matures a bit beyond the hatchling instincts.

-In a situation where a trainer owns more than one kyn, the human's first kyn is reffered to by the others as 'The First', or 'Prince(male)/Princess(female)'. This is simply a respectable title given to the one who happened to be their owner's first kyn. Owning three or more kyns makes up a clan where The First is known as the leader and must be respected/obeyed, of course whatever the rider says, even The First must follow.

-If the amount of kyns that a trainer owns is too much for him/her to handle by themselves, another person(roleplayed by either the same user or someone else) can be hired to help care for the kyns. Usually the person is someone who doesn't own a kyn of their own and is trying to save up in order to buy one.(Users who don't own kyns can still participate in rp as these kyn Assistants, or as kyn Assistants looking for jobs.) Kyns don't mind who it is who cleans their hide so long as it's done. ^^

-Older kyns hunt on their own within a specific territory owned by their trainer, depending on the amount of kyns depends on the size of that land. Owners will usually keep game such as cows, goats, or sheep, on the land for their kyns to hunt if wild game is scarce.

-Younger kyns either hunt smaller game such as rabbits or squirrels for themselves. If they are too young to hunt and no longer accept milk, food is hunted for them by either older kyns, by a kyn assistant or the owner.

-Kyns just out of the shell are large enough for trainers to ride them if they are small, but are not strong enough yet to fly. Adults are known to carry several people at a time, so long as the dragon is wearing some sort of safety harness.

Kyn Assistants

-It's the job of the kyn assistant to do whatever chore their employer assigns them.

-Chores inclue: Bathing Kyns(cleaning those hard to reach places), hunting for the hatchlings and younger kyns(Bows & arrows are the most prefered weapon choice), running errands to the shop for the Rider, oiling a kyn's hide(as a kyn grows the hide streatches and peels/breaks which causes a kyn discomfort), or any other chore that relates to the care and health of a kyn.

Kyn Fights

Battles of kyn against kyn are not uncommon, in fact it's much like a sport. Some kyns are trained to fight in special arenas(Gigantic buildings with no ceiling and sandy floors), using any tactics or abilities to defeat their opponent.

In a kyn fight, it is not whether you win or loose, but how brilliantly you display your battle skills. With the instinct of battle, a kyn's link with their owner becomes stronger, making the trainer experience the battle as though he/she were the kyn themselves. The kyn and trainer work as one mind, so it's pretty easy for the trainer to give their kyn a command without having to yell it out.

The battle ends only when one of the kyn is unable to fight due to fatigue or injury, making the other kyn the victor, or one of the kyn manages to pin his opponent on the ground, belly up.

Usage of Magic in Arena

Attack Magic- Magics that mainly attack cannot be used freely, and do not hit every time just because they are 'special'. You must use these in the same way that you make your character perform an action upon another character. It is up to the other person you are roleplaying with weather or not the attack hits their character, or they dodge it.

Defensive Magic- Magics that mainly block can be used at anytime(try not to godmode though.) Weather or not the attack thrown at your character actually hits, breaks through the defense, or is sucessfully blocked is up to you.

Healing Magic- Having healing powers does have an advantage sometimes. Though do not over use the ability. A character that has a healing ability may come in any form, and be used in any way, so long as it is not abused else it may turn into godmoding.(An invincible character who can heal at anytime. BAD and not fun for everyone.) If the ability is used to heal a character that is not your own, you must have the other roleplayer's permission before healing them.(Ask oocly or over messaging or whatever means of communication.)

Feral Kyns

Ferals are wild kyns who usually keep to themselves, but attacks are common if a tame kyn is near or enters their territory. Ferals speak very few words, if any at all. They hate tame kyns mostly due to the fact that they listen to humans. From time to time feral dragons have been known to approach tame dragons of the opposite gender.

How do I get a kyn? - If it's a flatsale, just post the description that's underneath the egg that you want to purchase. Payment of the egg must be done before you recieve it. You can also participate in raffles, auctions, customs, or other special events. Just be sure that slots are open.

Wah!! My egg suddenly disappeared!?/Is a red x! What Happened? - Refresh the page and see if the kyn's image comes back after a moment. It most likely means that your kyn is being updated to the next stage in it's life. :3 The other option is that your kyn has been an adult, and you've neglected to save and host him/her yourself. Please just post and we can get it all sorted out.

Can I loose my kyn? - When you ask to purchase a kyn, If I don't receive the payment from you within 30 minutes of your post, your egg will be returned to the shop to be available for others to buy.

If you have already purchased your kyn and have had it for a while now, you can still loose the kyn if you do something bad enough to get your name on the blacklist. Anyone who owns a kyn that is put on there will loose their privilages of owning a kyn.

Do you do pet trades? - Yes. Please PM all offers to the mule with the subject Pet Trade, and be sure to specify who you want to trade with, in other words who you would prefer your colorist to be. Please also note if you're willing for the other to color in case the first does not have the time or interest to do so.

Can I color/edit the kyns/familiars/items for myself/the shop/etc?
I'm afraid not. If I need help, then I'll be asking for it. It's not that we don't have faith in people more that it could be an issue down the road.
