She was cataloguing what felt like the seventh saxophone when she heard the little door jingle. The cat's lack of aggressive meowing let her know it was likely a regular... or Locke. She spared a glance at the door and gave Locke a small wave as she returned to finished the catalogue. "Welcome, welcome," she said quietly as she focused all her efforts on the computer screen in front of her. At least being tech savvy meant she had learned how to handle all this within minutes. While Locke was good, he wasn't at her level, it felt like. And he most certainly wasn't going to be dragged into the chaos of working the online store.
Nat rolled her eyes as Locke mentioned he was just checking up on his favorite boss. "Am I not your only boss? I was under that impression when I saw your availability," she said with a slight chuckle as she reset the cameras for the day. Well, synced and then reset. It was a pain they didn't cycle every night, but she got what she paid for. And she couldn't have anyone coming around asking how she could afford the lease, paying people out, and high-tech security when people barely came through her doors. Anything new? Nat finally left the small booth in the back and nodded over at the instruments, “Some new guitar. Looked it up online and it’s roughly worth $700, used. Obviously, only paid $450 for it. Poor man seemed desperate. Sell it off to you for the associate’s discount for $550.”
It wasn’t his scheduled day was it? Nat looked over at the little calendar she had by the desk to keep track of when Locke was coming in and frowned when she heard his next request. Days off? “You barely have hours already,” she grunted before sighing and leaning on the desk, facing him, “What do you need? A few days off to go to a concert, go on a bender, and recover? Or are you donating to that little cult over by the woods? I have eyes and ears Locke, not everywhere, but paired with common sense… Are you okay?”
She hesitated before staring at the cat that came bounding towards them once again, and Nat continued, “You know, if you need help, you can just say so. It’s not like I haven’t gotten mixed up with idiots every now and then. Absolutely useless cops here means you have to do everything yourself. Quiet peaceful place, right?”
