Since there seems to be some controversy... oO To confirm:

Sentbox: The PM has been sent, but has not been recieved by the person.

Outbox: Has been recieved/opened by the person.

other way around

Almost, switch em around.
Outbox: The PM has been sent, but has not been recieved by the person.
Sentbox: Has been recieved/opened by the person.
Also PM's in the OUtbox can be deleted, preventing them from being read by the person they are being sent to.

Also I might add that Stargazer got this right, the first time around people.
