WTH IS GAIA DOING WITH MY MONEY

We do not store, nor can we charge, your card. We don't know your credit card information. If you do notice that you are receiving multiple charges, then please let us know by filing a ticket or calling our billing line. We would be more than happy to investigate any cases of charges like this and figure out what is going on.

I purchased $10 worth last night with my debit card from bank of america & i just checked my statements after reading this thread. It seems fine, but just in case, i won't purchase again, ******** that.

A few weeks back my friend bought like 10$ of cash and suddenly random charges from Gaia started showing up on her account. No kidding they added up to over 1000 dollars before she was able to get it fixed.

She hasn't yet but Paypal is aware of the situation and is working to resolve it. They have to send her a paper check because she cancelled her bank account to stop the charges.

By any chance, do you know which form of payment your friend used (Paypal, etc.)?

It's unsettling to hear these kind of things. Though, one Admin took the time and initiative to ask if I had been having payment issues a week or so ago. It was a nice gesture.

It's Paypal. I don't necessarily think it's Gaia's fault but frankly all of the charges on her statement said "Paypal GaiaOnline."

She even received extra cash from one of the charges and was like "WTF...I didn't buy any GC..."

Thank you for making this thread. It made me curious since I had purchased GC recently. Checked my bank statements andsomething is seriously not adding up.

Just messaged a moderator to resolve and get to the bottom of this issue.

Update: Checked and compared my paypal/bank statements again and it was just the processing dates were different - making me think something was off since it was made to appear as if everything was processed on the same day. My mistake.

A: Just for future reference, as volunteers, moderators do not handle billing issues. You have to contact an Admin for those kinds of issues. (Thank you, Teabo Milk Tea for answering that!)

mine does that its rather odd but its not purchased on the same day it takes a few days to settle which is frustrating. im from new zealand.

Me, too! Bank of America! I bought cash a while back, and suddenly I got like 16 charges for it on my credit card. I called them and got every charge refunded

Is it possible that someone just stole information from Paypal and somehow made it seem like they were still purchasing from Gaia? I don't know any terms for it except... Tricking the program into thinking the money was going to Gaia, when it was going someplace else

I agree, I don't think it is necessarily Gaia's fault. Glitches might be a possibility, too. Though, it is wise to take extra precaution (as with anything online) to protect your financial information and computer. Install a reputable ad-blocker/anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc. Creating strong passwords and changing them regularly.

For anyone interested, there are some good threads you can find using the forum's search engine on how to protect your account. A helpful sticky from the Computers and Technology section: Spyware/Adware/Virus/Trojan/Rootkit/Keylogger Removal Guide.
The Future Prevention post in that thread was particularly helpful, for me.

However, that thread was posted from 2009 and with the way technology moves, I am unsure if it is outdated. Regardless, it has a lot of fantastic tips and explains how these things can happen.

Likewise, and I am from the US. Just found it odd the charges were processed (not purchased) all on the same day. That is what initially alarmed me.. After comparing Paypal's statements with my bank, everything was kosher.

Do feel bad for those who have been experiencing issues, though.
