I don't see why not. If you get hacked, they are going to find a way to take your gold anyway, gifted or not.

There is... one... difficulty in this that I have just thought of. One... friggin major flaw to all of this.
*glooms* sad

I suddenly remembered why I hadn't all for this in full.

If these were to be certificates or Gai-Yen or whatever - coinage or something

1) we would need a way to keep these OFF of the marketplace. That means they would have to be soulbound - which would make it impossible for us to store them into our SDBs unless they fix that glitch. And so in the meantime they would clutter up our inventories. (sigh) But at least the soulbinding would protect against hack-scammers (as I call them)

2) Also to keep these OFF of the marketplace, we would need a way to send directly to the gift recipient through the bank itself - which would mean a program or something (hopefully not re-write) in order to do that.
It would say "would you like to send this as a gift?" or some such thing and we would then choose 'yes' or 'no'. Choosing 'no', of course, means the denom stays in our own accounts. Choosing 'yes', the system would then prompt us to choose who we want to send it to and whether we want to be known or be anonymous.

This makes the whole thing more complicated than we think it is. cry
why would it need to be kept off of the marketplace?, mythrill coins are there and there's no problem with it, make it so that only certain amounts can be made, 5k, 10k, 20k, 50k, 100k, 500k, 1000k, 5000k being the max or maybe higher, still doesn't sound like a lot of work.

For the record.. There is NO such thing as 1000k or 5000k. 1000k = 1,000,000 = 1m. 5000k = 5,000,000 = 5m. Just saying.

Most likely because Gaia doesn't want people to turn around and be all "ohey give me 10k and I'll give you 5k" or something. I honestly don't see why either, but I doubt they want those flying around.

I would love to gift gold. Especially if I could do it anonymously.

I figure maybe we could use the Gaia Bank for this? We could buy "Bonds" or "Money Orders" or something. Like...

I want to randomly gift someone gold. So I click on Gaia Bank.

- I click on "Money Order" or "Bond."
- I choose the amount of gold I want to put into that Money Order or Bond. Whatever you wanna call it.
- That amount is subtracted from my current gold count, and is now under the "Specials" tab in my inventory. It'll act sort of like the Mythril Coin.

Now I can randomly gift the Money Order or Bond to someone. That way, they can click on it and get the amount of gold I put in to it added to their account.

I really like this idea 3nodding &You could also stash them away in your inventory as a way of saving gold >.>

Syesta makes a point. This is an implementation of a different kind. TOTALLY different! This is NOT through the CS at all and has nothing to do with the Myhrill coins - just on the concept of being able to convert your gold into a bond or something or gift it directly via the bank to a recipient (anon or not) in the form of a bond - that can only either be saved on one's account or sold back to the shops - for a banking fee. Keeping it off of the marketplace keeps these things from inflating. It's like exchanging your dollars at a store or bank or handing it to someone else. You would not take your RL money and sell it. That is against the law. That said, there would have to be a rule put in place that is RL similar.
If they ever get around to fixing that glitch so we can put our SB items into the SDB... or create a new box or something... (cookie jar)

I made a point? I'm so lost. o_______________________________o What point did I make? Unless you're pointing out the thing I mentioned about the cash shop, but I'm like, pretty sure you can do that with some specific item, and I only mentioned that to point out that you CAN buy it and gift it at the time of purchase, and have it soulbound to them. o_o

Which pretty much sums it up about needing something other than a Mythrill coin and then keeping it soulbound til it i sold back to the shops in order to keep it out of the marketplace. As was said too, though is the problem of stuffing it into our SDBs unless they fix that issue somehow (a different 'lock' on it maybe) so people wont b***h about them taking up room in the invos and all that.

Oic.

In all honesty, I assumed they'd be stackable according to denomination. And even then, it'd go under like, game / special / whatever Trunks and Boxes and gifts and Stickers and Raffle things go under. I honestly don't see the problem with them taking up that one / few spaces, but it'd be so much nicer to shove them somewhere else.. (And other things, for that matter)

You must have missed all the "it messes up my invo" comments. But never mind.

Yeah, no. Under the 'special' tab they would go under. And I would think they would be stacked too.

I thought the main one people bitched over was the avatar one.. if people are going to be that a**l about that tab, it's kind of pathetic, since they can sort it in the main arranger window. >.> <.< Beside the point.

Would you think they'd be stacked by denomination or all of them together? J/w

Denom, of course. They would not be able to do it any other way (proof is in what they can do now).

Call me lazy, but it's kind of annoying to go to Trade every time I want to put gold on my mule (I quest on them). .-. Would there be a way we could like. Gift gold? We can gift cash IRL, so why not gift gold? I know we have some like, 50k sellback items or whatever, but I don't mean that. It'd be awesome if you could put those kind of items in stores or whatever, but that probably won't happen, since you'd waste half the gold. >.> <.<

Back to the point, starting a trade, logging into a mule, logging back in is kind of a hassle to transfer like, 1k. Would there be a way to gift gold / add gold to a gift?

I wanted an idea to pay like 100GG for a piggy bank, and then depositing gold into it up to say 10kGG or so, then 'breaking' it open for the gold to get out of it. The 100GG for the piggybank is lost, big deal, then allowing to gift the piggybank would be cool. Would be DARN FREAKING NICE to have like a 1,000GG piggybank for larger stashes up to say 1MGG, same deal. I'd also be willing to pay 2,500GG for a GC piggybank, as well. OH, and to avoid hackers, option to put a password on each piggybank...if you can PM yourself, send the password to yourself.

I also found a couple items in my inventory I'm unable to gift, hafta use a trade for, and yeah, it's a major P.I.T.A. ta do trades for like one item or a small amount of gold.
Gaia could just create Coins like the Mythril Coins.
You buy them for like 10k in Gold Shops, gift them and other People sell them back for 10k.
With different Amounts. 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, 25k, ...
Easy.

Good idea. Have u start the petition yet?

In fact, wouldn't it be amazing if we could buy Mythril Coins at the bank? Like, exchange X amount of gold for a mythril coin worth the same amount? Geez. That would be fantastic. I could just toss a few mythril coins to a mule and have those tucked away in his Storage instead of having it in the general gold count.

Yes. Yes, it would be amazing. This would be a great way to keep from spending money you want for a quest as well -- tuck it away from plain sight, so you don't get tempted to spend that 100k you're storing for future need. Sort of like the "storage bank" [minus interest of course] petition that's in the Petition sub-forum.
